  1. I like roofing. I don't mind the asbestos. I put mustard on it, I eat the fuckin' shit. We're near 2244/1, coming up on .8" already. Radar shows forcefield kicking in about 90 minutes though despite that massive deep orange/red wave coming from the NXNW.
  2. Gretchen is only 52. Michigan Governors are term limited to 8 total years. She's almost done with 6 of them. Not my own bullshit, but there's not going to be two women on a ticket. I don't make the rules. So she could be an heir apparent at 60 when Kamala terms out. Between 2026-2032, Gretchen can take on a prominent cabinet role and rise to top of ticket in 2032. She is eligible for a federal judiciary appointment by Harris, but we rarely draft candidates directly from the bench because their stances on most issues is clearly delineated and they can't pull some "Well, I never said quite that." (Ma'am, I'd reading straight from your concurring opinion, verbatim). If Harris loses though, Gretchen will be at the top of the list in 2028.
  3. thank you squish. Near-in SW austin. air is getting stiller, barometric pressure is dropping every-so-slightly, and humidity ticking. Clouds are about the same but coloring is changing. I figured this for later tonight, not mid-afternoon. Intermittent gusts suggest it is speeding up any word on hail on this deal?
  4. They're working their ass off on it as we speak. Trouble for them is she was born in a run-of-the-mill big city hospital at the end of the baby boom which kept just as good of records as any other like it. Not the fucking Marshall Islands or USVI or on her mom's trip back to India or some shit. Mom was born in India. Dad was born in Jamaica. Met in academia and moved around, to coastal elite liberal bastions like Urbana-Champaign, IL. So yes, her mother was an immigrant from across an ocean but she was born on U.S. soil-just like Don, Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and Baron.
  5. Is she doesn't open up a debate or press conference by holding up this FEC donation report and saying something akin to "...And finally, I'd like to thank Donald Trump. Without his generous support in 2011 & 2013 when I was running for AG of California, I wouldn't have become Senator, and eventually Vice President. In the interest of transparency, I have posted my donation records as well on my campaign website, and encourage him to do the same. But I had to give him a special shout-out for helping me out when I was getting started on higher office. It's the same people that report his yuge donation numbers so I'm sure there'll be no discrepancies."
  6. Okay, I'll stop. Nothing bad can happen with ammo vending machines. Got it.
  7. Dude, I was just throwing out a popular handgun as an example. Wouldn't be Surly if we didn't get bogged down on weapon type and caliber. It's a metonym, placeholder, for something common in aggregate. Just like "assault rifles", obviously there's more than just one type. "Russian Armor", well there's 16 primary vehicle platforms with dozens of variants. "Fighter Jets" could mean any of two-dozen fixed-wing types. "Smith & Weston" or "Colt", make many kinds. But people just say "S&W" as shorthand in a casual gun conversation. "12-gauge/sawed-off/Uzi", just terms people use as a stand-in for the broader range of weapons in that sorta category. If we spend our day using terminology down to the model variant of every single object we're discussing, we'd never finish a conversation. You only get specific when money is on the line, until then shorthand is just easier. You've never heard some weapon type used as kind of a descriptor for a whole host of similar weapons? Though the term may have jumped the shark when I heard and APD officer describe a homeless machete attack in South Austin last year, and assured us it was unrelated to a similar attack prior. And he starts getting into the difference between the two machetes, and somebody had to cut him off like, "How the fuck you know so much about machetes, Doug?"
  8. What if the criminal already has the gun illegally, right? What about Chicago and all that? Okay, sometimes those guys run outta ammo and need to buy more. They can send in a strawman to a sporting goods store, pay a 50% markup to an underground dealer and hope it hasn't been "stepped on/repackaged" in a different box, etc. These guys pull that shit on one another every single day. This is just easier now, "I have a 380 and we take it out to the forest to shoot in prep for the big gang war or mass shooting. I am out of ammo but am on a felony registry, plus I ain't got no ID or credit cards. I go buy a pre-paid debit card in cash, and then go to the ammo vending machine for 380-ready ammo direct from manufacturer and nobody knows I was ever there. I'm not losing any sleep over it, and I may try it out for novelty for my own handgun, but of all the crazy gun stories in this country---you're telling me my scenario could never happen?
  9. Why a lot of underground gun salesman don't both to offer ammo because of the myriad complications. The vending machine solves for that, that's all. Sometimes bad people buy guns illegally and then have a challenging time getting the ammo for them. This solves for that. Not always, but sometimes. I could never buy a bag of chew or pack of cigarettes when I was 15 at a convenience store. So I'd walk across the street to the vending machine at the mexican restaurant and buy it there. Every now and again, they'd ask, "Why do you need $3.00 worth of quarters." To which I'd reply, "For the Galaga video game"
  10. Yeah. Most of the black marketeers I know through colleagues, sell firearms but they don't sell ammo. Too tough to maintain proper inventory, margins are for shit, take up a lotta space, raise a lotta eyebrows. Having one handgun on you is one thing, having rounds for 20 different kinds of weapons is kinda of a question mark. Just the volume of storage they need is a pain in the ass. Obviously the sales still happen but not as much as people think. Plus, just from a market standpoint...why bother getting deeper into the ammo business when next to the stuffed animal claw machine at Brookshire Bros. grocer, you can just pick up the boxes you need for half the price?
  11. I'd estimate about 20% of the gun owners I know keep their ammo in a different location in the house than the firearm. Some kinda rifle upright case with glass to show 'em off, with some pistols (or they're spread around the house or garage or vehicles or camper or shed or on top of a bookcase, but again not next to the ammo. All empty and cleared. Then, they keep the ammo in some other part of the house/property. Probably under lock 'n key like a responsible owner. Only they can access it, not the kids or drunk uncle staying with them for the summer. Plenty of time to get it together for hunting or range time. In the case of a break-in, they know where one magazine is locked away on the way to the egress of the home with the pistol already in hand. What if drunk uncle or the kids, whom are unable to access the ammo, decide they need to do some shooting? Break open the rifle case or go find the pistol hidden in the tool shed or in the boat trailer, take along the ammo they anonymously purchased from the machine and go hurting? What if I'm a felon with a blackmarket gun but can't by ammo from a legit outlet because they'll ID me, especially after I pull out a buncha cash? "Say kid, I'll give you $20 to over to that grocery store and pick me a box of 380 ACP rounds. Here's the cash and/or pre-paid visa debit card that anybody can get at a convenience store to pay for the box." Yeah, that kinda shady shit never happens in America. Nothing to be worried about.

Anybody know of any of the details on S2 filming? Apparently began filming last week. Mostly closed-set at ATX studios. But they've to go outside sometime. Would love to take the girls out to the Hill Country go catch a glimpse. Obviously, they're keeping it tight-lipped. I don't want to bother anybody at AFC, but I know some of us some of those folks, was hoping one of you could get drunk and ask.
  13. ...If you think so (puffs cigar)
  14. So when you were screaming to Secret Service, "Get my shoes! Grab my shoes!", you were referring to your 'whole ear', right? This miracle man will be studied by ENT's for centuries.
  15. Dude, it's one page back. also, this pic reminds: "Matt just did this to his face to own a Lib! Point, MAGA!" (checks notes) "My bad, not a Lib, a Liberace."
  16. Cutter Sagers? Cash me Outside, Cash. No Sweat, Bitch. Bronc Heiener TIL, the simulation doesn't become self-aware as SkyNet at NORAD. It first infiltrates the Utah State children's rodeo first as a beta-test.
  17. So like literally a Frank Dreben situation?"
  18. He looks like Wayne Newton fucked Mina Suvari
  19. The Rodney movie? That is beyond weird. I love the movie but they almost always show a movie related to baseball, even if it’s in the background like ‘Trouble with the Curve’
  20. Did she blow the rest of the sports team first? You know, for the bulk discount.
  21. Did Trump just say the Electric Boat/Shark thing was an "analogy?" Is Eric coaching him up on vocabulary? Death by Battery is to Death by Shark as Presidential is to a Fucking Moron
  22. I thought "Midweek Refuel" was like a metaphor for nourishing the soul. But with this Man of God suggests is, what if the fuel was something else? Obviously he's a monster who should be tortured for years. The child is no way at fault. On a weekly basis, one of my kids will seem off emotionally or mentally. And I'll give 'em space, but if it persists---Mom or I will pry. And invariably (and thankfully), it's what so-and-so said at school, or why can't I have this, mundane bullshit. But one day they'll hide something more emotionally trying, we did it, our kids do it, their kids will do it. We over-analyze at times and we also miss blatant stuff all the time when it comes to mental health and communication and routine. What I don't get with these damn parents is, are they just in denial? Are they complicit? Do they feel it's just punishment from God for something they or their children did? Are they largely victims themselves from their own childhood and "looking-the-other-way" is just baked in trauma? Because every parent misses something with their kid almost daily in the mental or emotional plane. But how the hell do you miss your 11yo walking funny for a few days, their undergarments soiled with blood. I mean there are red flags, but holy shit.
  23. There's a Riders on the Storm reference in here somewhere if Jim Morrison has the courage to kill himself again. Wednesday will barely top 80 I bet. Gonna be muggy as fuck, but this is awesome for late July. Obviously we will all pay dearly in September. PSA: dump all the standing water in a week's time. Mosquitoes started out slowly this season but they are fucking pissed.
  24. When de-planing, wish the guy, "Hey, good luck with your P-transition." -the hell you'd say to me ? "Your transition procedure. Seems long and complicated, but if that's who you truly are inside..."
  25. Yes, Cole in 2019---needing just one less inning than Pedro Martinez to take the prize. 326 K's in 212 1/3 innings. Sale's 214 1/3 is honorable mention. None of them can hold a candle though to the great John Clarkson who mowed down 308 batters in 623 innings in 1885. Some say he's still throwing both ends of a double-header in two weeks.
