  1. I get that the three primary colors are in the rainbow. But what about the other four? How’d they get the gig? Plenty of other secondaries out there to draft from, what made Orange, Green, Indigo, and so damn special. Was it that Roy asshole ?
  2. Well, we’ve got a prairie. And a swamp. Swamp might be better for you. -oh yeah, natural springs. I’ll take anything. Go ahead and play through, I’m just gonna clean up this disaster.
  3. Probably because it's run been run by people much smarter than me. I just volunteer every now and again. You may appreciate this as a Seinfeld fan. Speaking of the University, Under the Bass Concert Hall stage where Jerry typically plays, there's all the dressing rooms and load-in areas and all that. I was at a meeting one building over and thought, "Ah, what the hell---I'll walk downstairs and see if I magically run into Jerry (he was playing that night). Obviously, he wasn't. But ran into a woman who was clearly with his team/agent/manager/whatever. And sometimes the UTSO will play there, or other visiting orchestras. So there's a dressing room specifically labeled "Conductor", even though there's nicer, bigger ones. And she's putting up this sign for Jerry with a run-of-show schedule on it. And I had to ask, "Why does he pick this dressing room out of curiosity when there's newer ones closer to the stage?" She said, he likes that it says "Conductor", reminds him of that episode with the Maestro---he picks it everytime he's here." Thought that was pretty funny and saw myself out. Was just giving you a hard time since you wrote "Receipt to prove", just seemed like a weird flex. Hope you have a great time. At some point soon he's gonna hang it up and get into the grandbaby business, so we'll all be glad we got to see him.
  4. Biden at LBJ on Monday. "It's great to be here at the University of Austin, Massachusetts." (checks notes) "Boston, that's what I said."
  5. Oh there's a "Viva SchlossVegas" walkup song in here somewhere.
  6. Look on the bright side, this makes it easier for his inner circle to tell him to step down before Election Day and onboard another ticket. Trump still wins, and we'll all be trying to access Surly whilst living underground come 2025, but we'll have a few laughs between now and then. Maybe another CFP appearance and a nice Holiday Season. It was fun America, I'll be abroad. Jokes aside, every President of any age gets foreign leaders names mixed up. Shit, I get my own children's names mixed up. But when it's NATO and you're there to pledge support for the guy from Ukraine whose name starts with a "Z", you can't slide over to "Putin"---the guy invading his country which is the real reason NATO is meeting beyond the ceremonial anniversary. This is a landing you gotta stick.
  7. Or so the German Shepherds would have us believe. /ripNorm
  8. "It's an older Joe, Lord Vader. And he's checked out."
  9. Biden, "Did I say Putin? I meant Zelensky. You people all look alike to me. You know...Soviets."
  10. Oh for fuckssakes, anybody have the clip of Biden doing that? NOT GREAT BOB!
  11. I pictured you sending a carrier pigeon to DKR with a note attached, "Mr. & Mrs. Armybrat request validation of accommodation for two seats in the loge area, away from the unwashed, where we may festoon our sunhats and enjoy an afternoon of intercollegiate football leisure. Please have our lemonades and parasols at the ready. Make haste, and defer any question of detail to our valet as we will arrive in a fortnight. Good day."

  13. Some of these folks, mean and dumb as we think they are, have towed a delicate balance fairly well in political terms. Haley, Rubio, Burgum, and most importantly-Glen Youngkin have done a deft job of challenging of Trump's insanity without insulting his MAGA base while keeping the CoC/Country Club GOP traditionalists in their rolodex. They'll have their time, and even if they lose a few million MAGA lunatics, they'll pick up some moderates who sat out 2020 & 2024 Trump cycle because he's fucking insane. DeSantis, Christie, Tim Scott, and Hutchison are either too weak, too fat, too Black, or too old for 2028. In the end, everybody doing Trump's bidding in business or politics gets fucked so somehow, Haley is fucked. Burgum is kind of that periphery, as is Rubio (who still has age on his side and could serve as a VP to setup his own bid one day). The one who got the least entangled, by far, with Trump was Youngkin. Between those 4, those are your two ticket names in 2028. Assuming we still have elections.
  14. Some of this honestly sounds like something they'd hatch up at Kramerica Industries. "Darren, get in here! What about a grocery store vending machine at Joe's, that collects your change which you can then use to buy ammunition and mangos?" -Oh I like that idea very much, Mr. Kramer. I remember watching Airplane 2 as a kid, and thinking how ridiculous the premise was of Sonny Bono buying a time bomb at a newsstand along with TIME magazine. It was a corny premise even for that franchise. Just 40 years later, we now sell ammo at grocery store machines using a minor's older sibling or parent's ID to obtain it. Yes, I understand as a gun-user that ammo is worthless without the weapon. But stop and think about how many Americans think that because they keep the weapon unloaded and chamber cleared and the ammo in another location because they just use the weapon for hunting or range time. It's a small percentage of weapons, but that still adds up to several million that a child or mentally disturbed relative who knows about their arsenal can now "empower" the firearm with convenience store grade ammo. Think about the black market for this (WHAT ABOUT CHICAGO?). Having trouble buying ammo because they run your ID? No big deal, for $50...I'll run over to a Ralph's around here, and pick you up whatever you need using my ID. Or a fake one. Yeah, nobody ever used a fake ID at a grocery store to buy alcohol or cigarettes for other kids. Certainly would never happen with ammunition. Not in Texas, but in most states---you can buy liquor at the grocery store. So picture a guy buying a bottle and picking up a prescription. He's thinking about killing himself. But he took precautions on one of his good days and got rid of all his ammo. He's paying the cashier and sees the ammo vending machine. Takes his bottle, his pills, and a box of rounds home. If the first option doesn't work or he vomits it up, he can always shoot himself. There's a 1000 ways this can go sideways. Some of these regional grocers are owned by larger national conglomerates. When the first wrongful death happens because some kid bought the ammo with another ID, or any of these 100 other scenarios. The family will sue the parent company of the grocery store (the vending machine company won't have nearly that kinda money), and it will start a very curious legal path. There's a reason they quit cigarette vending machines, and why there aren't any liquor vending machines. I'm guessing MAGA will continue to doubt the ID integrity of Voting Machines while tout the ID integrity of Ammo Machines, that are literally placed right next to the candy stacks and pool noodles.
  15. What did his dick feel like? Nice blouse BTW.
  16. Even political dorks like us know that a House Member can't be up to speed on every detail of a bill or a regulation or a ruling. Granted, it's gets more granular at the committee hearing level as opposed to the full Floor. And it's a constant rush for staffers to put together briefs for those hearings, in addition to the executive briefings they get from the Committee's overall staff and their party's committee leadership office. But it's just the abject arrogance and doubling-down of stupid with Boebert. I mean, yeah, hit your talking points to curry favor. But at some point in your career, just learn to say "Well, I don't agree. Let's have our offices follow up with one another next week." That was the way this shit went for 150 years. Take Michael McCaul of Texas. You may not like his politics, but man takes his time to get up to speed on committee topics, asks good questions, listens, and if gets out of his element---he simply requests more information down the road and yields back. I mean at some point, with all due respect to their research...we are going to have to seriously consider changing the name of the Dunning-Krueger Effect to the Boebert-Greene Effect. There are 535 members of Congress. Of course they can't all know about every topic. And of course, just like society-at-large, there's gonna be plenty of stupid ones. But it's the brazen cockiness that some of these dipshits speak to real experts with is astounding.
  17. Do you even Spirit Airline, bro? "We can't get you snakes at this price. Best we can do are some sick eels."
  18. 2013? When Manziel left? There's a poor taste John Bonham joke in here somewhere
  19. Congrats, man! Yeah, with our first one-they hold them up so one of the nurses can take a quick photo. But that long walk to the little warming deal and their eyes to start to warm up and you can literally the new air fill their little lungs. It's an amazing process, but damn if your heart rate doesn't double, your butt clench, and you yourself don't take a breath for 3 minutes. You probably already did this, but it was also fun when I got to scrub in and help give baby her first bath. Then you take off all the gear and get to start making phone calls to grandparents. Or I guess in your case, post on Surly We'll leave you to it---a lactation consultant should be coming by in a few to see about baby's feeding. And dammit when they show how to swaddle properly, pay attention!
  20. I think it's a little different in kids from what I gleaned from the physicians. She's over a week into it, but they it's not out of the question that it overall lasts 2-3 weeks. We hate giving her prescription drugs, but buckled yesterday and got the antibiotic that they're now finding good luck with. Off-setting it some People's Pharmacy probiotics. Just sucks when you have fun stuff as a Dad to do with your kids during the summer and actually have a little time, and then they get this sick. She knows she's missing out on stuff, that's the gut-wrenching part. But I suppose I'll blink and one day I'll remember her little cough and miss it almost. It's hard for them to understand they still have their whole lives ahead of them and 10-15 more school summer breaks. Remember to hug your daughters extra tonight. and if they cough on you, clean your face with a Chlorox wipe.
  21. For many, sure. And almost all will like the tone. But donors that big, even asshole ones, really don't like it when you don't spend time on the core mission/vision. If he had a press conference to say this, or ran an Op-Ed, or put in the Heritage newsletter---they'd love it. But to know he's just sitting around exchanging messages (there's pages of shit like this), annoys some frugal donors. But what do I know in this fucking simulation. He'll probably send the Furby hacker guy a Teddy Bear with a noose around its neck and get a salary increase.
  22. Interesting. Great school. Only solidifies our notion that Melania doesn't even stay at Mar-a-Lago, she'll stay back in Trump Tower to be closer to Barron. What a beautiful marriage, tremendous. I have two younger cousins that attend NYU. Pretty much the opposite of MAGA. But I'm going to encourage them to invite Barron for a walk around campus and "run into" a pro-Palestinian protest/rally on NYU's campus. And then photograph Barron and post it online to confuse MAGA. Of course, I don't want them to get in trouble, but I think some version of the idea has legs.
  23. Kinda weird that the Executive Director of arguably the most influential right-wing think tank in the country would keep opening messages from a Furry. If you find it vile, Mike...maybe just quit opening them and block it. I'm sure you have a robust IT team. Maybe just go do your fucking job. Or are you interested in that lifestyle? There's gotta be one Heritage donor, they're bad folks but most of 'em didn't get rich being dumb........doing the math and calling Mike, "My assistant scanned the transcripts of all these bizarre exchanges. Given how much I donate to you...we did the math. I'm effectively paying you $100 to threaten Furries per week. We need to talk about my next pledged gift. Sickie."
  24. Yeah, I can't tell if Don, Jr.'s jaw is so clenched because he's so pissed or the drip is kicking in and he's trying to play it off. Also, he's 18 now and on the campaign trail. But he's had such a fucked up childhood, I know he's not anxious to reveal his university plans. But does anybody else find it kinda weird that Pres. Trump hasn't just come out and bragged about where Barron is headed in literally one month's time? It's gonna be public knowledge in a few weeks. And he'll have a security detail. And he's probably known since April when most deadlines pass. It's just weird that Trump hasn't said, "My son is going to the best school. Tremendous college. Fantastic University."
  25. I know this whole "we're not gonna pay into NATO until other countries kick in their share! We're throwing away too much money at Ukraine when we have problems at home." is an American tale told 100 different ways over the last 60+ years (with some other country being substituted for Ukraine). Maybe something Trump, MAGA, and Project 2025 should consider---we have dozens of known military installations in Europe...some very close to Ukraine in Poland and Romania. We do joint air force training missions in their airspace with them. And there 100,000 U.S. military personnel and hundreds of thousands more contractors and just regular U.S. citizens living abroad within striking distance. What happens when one errant surface-to-air missile from Russia's positions accidentally hits a U.S. bird over Poland or Romania. What happens if a surface-to-surface missile kills even one American in Lithuania or Slovakia because they're pushed farther into Ukraine and some dipshit Orc makes a guidance mistake because we're not talking with NATO about where our people are and where the Russian S-missile systems are deployed? Never mind Article 7, what's Commander's Dipshit plan when Americans start being killed because of this. There have been some SpecOperators there to train up UDF and statistically speaking, a handful probably have died. And the DoD sent their family's tragic news of a training operation accident stateside. But civilians or U.S. military personnel get killed outside Ukraine, or a USAF jet gets into any trouble while patrolling/training alongside the Ukraine border. That's not something you can hide. But as usual, Donald really thinks things through.
