  1. They'll certainly try. But there's lots of 'case' precedence. Most recently when LBJ drops out in effectively April of 1968. If the change occurs before the convention, most state party language is pretty clear. The party just has a placeholder spot on each state's ballot and fills it as they so desire. There's plenty of instances in both parties, in the last 50+ years where the VP candidate was not revealed until the convention, or shortly before. But certainly well after the deadline to file for the top candidate to be listed on most state's ballots. Because it's the only two-person election in the United States federal mechanism, later this month the DNC couldn't just declare the Trump campaign can't be on certain state's ballots because he didn't reveal his VP running-mate until within 90 days of Election Day, or 60 days before registration deadline in most swing states. So there's some questionable spacing in there, but parties have changed horses late in the race but this one is way more visible---to your point. There's three things to remember here: 1. Doesn't matter what the Democratic ticket ends up being, even if legally valid (and I think that it is). It is way to fucking late to be playing around. This should have been sorted out months ago. 2. Registration is going to close in most states within just 90 days, some even less. So it's not really 4 months to the election, it's more like three. 3. With likely no legal basis for removing a new candidate off a party ballot that already has "clearance" to appear on a state ballot. Here's a "glitch in the system." A few swing states controlled by GOP legislative houses and/or high courts. They rule between now and registration deadline (Sep/Oct) that mail-in ballots, early voting rolls, absentee ballots should all be sent in early with a broader than ever window of opportunity in the name of Democracy and voter access. You get a few hundred thousand people to vote via one of those three versions before the tickets are finally set by November (in case Biden resigns in Autumn)...that state turns around and says all those early/absentee/mailed ballots don't count. tens of thousands in 7 seven crucial states go up in flames. And Trump beats whoever the D's set as their 2-person ticket. In a stroke of irony, they actually make voting easier and earlier so they can torch them when and if Biden makes the switch too late. Perfect judicial and legal cover. SCOTUS would affirm it, and I almost wouldn't blame 'em. If only we'd had 3+ years to plan for this.
  2. Brookings, far left as they are, has gotten more cooperative and less extreme lately. Is it Center for America Progress? Those folks have only come here to do two things, chug absinthe and hand over the election over back to Trump. And it looks like they're out of Absinthe.
  3. Pro tip, Mr. Boyce. When heading off to genpop for child porn...don't make your lips so shiny and pouty in your photographs. Especially when it involves toddlers. I don't know if he's going to the clink in Utah or Idaho. But the transfer lockup in that part of Idaho has a lot of white power sympathizers working it and locked up inside so he may get some help. He gets put away in Utah and he'll be in the infirmary with a few months. And then back again. Shit, our luck---it'll be Northern Idaho. Even with toddler porn, his Patriot Front exploits will get him protection. If anybody has any social mediate updates (I have zero accounts) on this guy's case, post 'em here. It's been 2-3 months since I had anybody hurt and I'm kinda going through withdrawals.
  4. Yeah, this makes me surly. It doesn't have to be binary. You don't have to have just the one plunger that people just trek through the house over and over again because you worship the patron Saint of Carbs. Likewise, you don't have your bathroom area defaced with a toilet brush and plunger just sitting out in the open on the floor by the sink. If people are coming over. You hose it off, let it dry, put it in a plastic bag and stick it under the sink so it's there if people need it discretely. And you do it for each bathroom so nobody goes Band Leader Baton style, marching with it like the fucking Whiz from Seinfeld. We don't stay with family much, but when we do---the plunger situation is like this bizarre little inside secret that nobody talks about. Like you have to give the last 4 digits of your SSN and mother's maiden name to lease one for 3 minutes. You got redundant stuff all over the house, just spring for one more plunger and hide it under the sink so I don't have to smell it while I'm brushing my teeth. I get that I have to ask for the alarm code to go outside or which light switch operates what. But you don't make a fucking Escape Room game out of a bowel movement.
  5. He looks like the brother of the "Ermahgerd, fry-ball Goosebumps!" chick.
  6. I thought their whole deal though was their "body armor" was impenetrable from our weapons, save for missies and ICBM's which everybody probably figured out wasn't a great idea to just launching en masse, all willy-nilly style around a bunch of civilians. They also never explain what those things eat/drink and how they "breathe." It's like "War of the Worlds" with Cruise, Krasinski immediately gets how they operate as a plot device. In hindsight, the idea was pretty original but has clearly played itself out. That HBO series "The Last of Us" was an interesting premise on the usual zombie trope. Earth gets a little hotter and the fungi adapt to using us as incubators. I think it was the TOS. Can't remember the name and my google searches are proving futile. But somebody mentioned this book or short story about how zombies and aliens and all that are just fictional fantasy. But that we are embedded with a virus to contain our numbers. Organized Religion. That is implanted into us by Nature when we first started forming states and cities and societies. After which, we no longer fought one another for food or water as was the way of every other species on this rock. We fought one another for our gods to thin the herd. And the failsafe built in is that anytime something else of actual natural origins kicks in (space invaders, mushrooms, Covid, or plague)...the religious zealots will come out of the woodwork, claim divine punishment, and as a result---we've had roughly 1 billion deaths over religious disputes over the years. The concluding theorem is that is a virus placed into us by Nature herself to control our numbers and our consumption of the planet. If you notice in most dystopian/post-apocalyptic movies/shows lately, there are no mass worshipping scenes, no hordes of dead in churches, nobody preaching from the rooftops. No wrath of god, nor return of the Messiah. The book goes to conclude that just as religious allegory has been used as campfire storytelling for millennia, we use these modern day films and books and zombie tales and alien invaders and body snatchers as a way to express a suppressed memory. The real invasion comes from inside of us, when we turn on each other for a different religious practice. If you question it, you might make too much noise and the armored monsters might get you. Happy Sunday.
  7. Johnny Dickshot, how’re you now? it’s Jimmy Dickson, dammit Wayne!
  8. “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents. In a river. In Texas. At closing time.” -Nicole Bobby Ross.
  9. To be fair to Ted…I’ve fished many times in jeans. But I would never weaR an Oxford dress shirt and child’s medium life preserver to fish. Plus what the fuck with his right hand grip on the reel? I mean I’ve had bad form when I go to wipe my hand of sweat or grab a drink but something tells me that’s how he always handles the reel. I wonder if like carpal tunnel from jerking off Trump?
  10. I came here today to do two things: Crack eggs and take shits. And it looks like we're all outta eggs! /'Rowdy' Roddy SandPiper
  11. I'll pledge my vote for Trump if you can provide just one photograph of him in the last half-century on a bicycle, jogging, swimming, hiking, or fishing. You know...that stuff that "men" do?
  12. Is Ronald Reagan still in the room with you now?
  13. there's no mistake. and don't call me Shirley. also, if early Saturday games at the Disch don't offer a Schlossen-Bagle, we're tearing the program down. And surely I can be serious.
  14. I'm sorry to be so damn prejudice. But if there's a man who wants to be in your child's life and he's shaped like a thumb..........just move on to the next person.
  15. We're all two steps ahead of falling into Town Lake, young lady. Act accordingly.
  16. You just tied a prominent Austin attorney, a prominent Nordic country, a prominent U.S. Senator, a prominent scheduled anti-convulsant drug, and inside knowledge of a prominent string of murders. My advice to you is to stop and head to Bolivia tomorrow morning. I'd offer to help, but before we got on the plane, you'd pull a Murdoch and offer this B.A. a nice glass of milk.
  17. The Pedophile expressway? Isn’t that now the 45 Trump interstate?
  18. Stuart! Listen, mmkay?!? First you take the 90, then to the 94 then to the 43! Wait, are you sleeping with my Honduran housekeeper, Esmeralda?!?
  19. Somebody I know has ‘inside baseball’ knowledge. Tells me APD is getting a an offer together to onboard a significant portion of Barton Oaks Plaza (or whatever that office park is calleD behind salt trader’s and old iHOP). Ample garage parking for their fleet and stables. Obviously expensive dirt and lease buyouts but they can redevelop their current site for a pretty penny. i used to kinda be in the loop about their budget but i resigned. But this Rainey Street “in denial” thing is just fucking weird. I don’t see the angle. Few days ago, some dumbass teenagers on gummies were shooting air rifles by our high school and hit my neighbors SUV. So powerful it went through all layers and into the seat, a few inches from her girl’s head. Took hours and hours to get a response from law enforcement. meanwhile, the Russian guy at the end of my street who is financially involved with the Austin-Putin oligarch who swept up by the FBI a few months ago. Were had APD, WLHPD, RPD, Travis County Sheriffs, FBI, and DPS visiting almost weekly. Moral of the story? You have a problem or are out on Rainey Street, you pull a Warren Zevon and call in “How was I to know, they were with the Russians too?”
  20. We can’t get out here. This is Beryl country. Rain let up so I’m sitting in line at HEB just to grab a few things for the rest of the weekend. Totally spaced there’d be panic buying due to Austin always getting vicious hurricanes. Crowd does really bother me. What bothers me is this place is usually a MILF contest to see who can sport the sexiest yoga pants. Apparently women shopping for extreme weather don’t really care what they look like at my fancy HEB. Woman just saw who is probably a 9 when she fixes herself up for her age group. Wearing 90s sweatpants and a Dokken t-shirt. I wanted to ask her, “that’s what you’re wearing to the end of the world?”
  21. What was her helium quote, “when I was a little girl your age, Grover Cleveland was President?” And people need to give it more credit. It started that conservation on cards deal to express your feelings like 30 years before the internet went viral on it.
  22. We don't know that he gets killed. I always assumed it was another scam he pulled on his family to get some quick cash and he just ends up in another country running confidence schemes. The brilliance of his dynamic with Robard's Dad character was they both knew the scam and went along with it anyway. Contemporary America in a nutshell.
