  1. there are people of all political stripes willing to give up what little they have for their cause or absence of cause. Democrat or Republican, armed or unarmed. What makes this one weird is they think they're fighting for a messiah-like figure who doesn't even know they exist. Those are the corner-dwellers I fear. The rest I have dealt with all my life. When you're convinced the man who doesn't love you tells you it's gonna be different this time around...that's when shit gets weird. He's not building a cult. He's raising a brigade of insanity.
  2. Yeah, I know. Lame attempt at humor as per usual. I just mean while she may like that position, the first female VP in U.S. history could run any university she wants. Nothing wrong with Howard or brand loyalty, but she could helm Yale or Stanford if she wanted to. I like her, but she's not having a great tenure from what I glean internally. If she took over for an ailing or dead Biden one day in the next term, I'd be there with bells on at the swearing-in with my girls in tow. But putting her up top for 2024 is just trouble.
  3. Yeah, I'll be over there with my messy bowel movements. I don't get it. My mom has lovely handwriting. My father could write in calligraphy with his eyes literally closed. I take longer to write out a grocery list than it does for me to buy the actual fucking groceries. Ever since my elementary school teachers wrote "See me about your handwriting" on any assignment I turned in, I've been screwed ever since. The only thing I can draw accurately is Akbar & Jeff by Matt Groening (the Simpsons guy). Last summer, I did some chalk art of animals with my girls on our driveway. Wife comes home and says, "Oh, she's getting a little better with her drawing I suppose." (in that polite mom voice) I didn't have the heart to tell her it was my work. Back to the thread topic. 20 years after it launched, I still don't have a facebook account. csb/ Ten years ago, a good friend invited us to tour the campus while we were in the area for a wedding. The place was amazing, got to meet a lot of top brass. Before we could enter, we had to fill out these waivers/NDA's because we were getting a "behind-the-scenes" treatment. It was on a tablet. I get called back by Facebook security, "Sir, this signature doesn't match the one on the ID you showed us and scanned in." Yeah man, none of my shit matches anything, I don't know to fucking scribe letters. I got some free pizza later on though, that was nice. /csb
  4. President at Howard? littleracist.gif I want a woman President for my daughters to look up to. Call me whatever names make you feel better, but Kamala is not going to carry the top of a ticket. She may assume office in 2026 if Biden dies, and I'm sure she'll continue a competent administration filled with capable problem-solvers. But the facts remain. Biden remains vulnerable. Trump remains malignant. 2032 is the only glimmer of actual, effectual change in this country when lines are redrawn and demography shifts from that census. 2028 is a giant fucking question mark which will actually make this cycle look like a walk in the park. But all that matters is getting through to November/January and taking back the House and keeping the Oval and Senate (or at least a tie). SCOTUS ain't going anyway anytime soon. Do whatever the fuck it takes. And hopefully Trump dies somewhere in between 2024-2028. Otherwise, everything goes lights out until 2032.
  5. This one hurts. Late in the school year, I told my oldest to work on her typing skills and print letters. I have to block print upper-case almost everything so I can actually read it later (I take a lot of notes or write out talking points, etc.). Anyway, her handwriting is about as bad as her father's. But I didn't realize, they still slip in some cursive lessons in elementary school, and her's is actually pretty decent. So couple weeks ago, I drop her off at Vacation Bible School and have to sign her in on a clipboard. And there's nowhere to put it down to write all the info down. Everybody else on the list has signed all the shit in cursive so I don't want to look like a block print illiterate, so I scribbled all the shit down in cursive. Wife picks her up and sees all my check-in information on the clipboard. Asks me if I had a stroke because the handwriting looked like I was having a TIA. I can still type 100 words a minute with 3 or less errors. But I have to really focus with a proper pen or pencil to write out an idea. And if you ask me to write a name out in cursive while standing, it's like watching Stephen Hawking trying to make a portrait in a Japanese dry garden.
  6. Yeah, I know he "attended" a military academy for a portion of his high school tenure. And I was surprised to learn he still owned 2 or 3 handguns after he was convicted. But I've never seen him do anything athletic or competitive, other than cheat at golf. So good point, with those tiny hands, no range time because Secret Service won't allow him to be in a venue like that, and wearing that goofy ass ladies sports-watch, how the hell would even handle a weapon properly? I mean, I guess maybe get lucky and he accidentally shoot himself on the toilet..
  7. I dunno, but there's an Ice Cube part 4 franchise in here somewhere. Which will certainly feature whichever criminally insane cosmetologist does Casey DeSantis' eyebrows.
  8. Well, is it like one of those fine-tip ones or like that big wedge shaped ones that's painted all industrial style like? Wait, what were we talking about again?
  9. If Trump wins or attempts another insurrection, believe me---this whole website is going away. Without a trace. No way in the fucking world can some of this shit about Abbott, the Board or Regents, or Trump show up on search engines. I'll forget how to speak Spanish, go back to my more anglo-sounding name, and blend in again with the establishment. I'll wait it out until we get correct paperwork for either Israel, Portugal, Mexico, or Costa Rica. My wife won't like it, and her family will certainly give me a ton of shit about taking my daughters to a "shithole country", but I can bug out personally in 36 hours, my family in 36 days. The thing you have to worry about isn't the GOP in charge. They're predictable and easy to buy. I don't worry about the survivalist hoarding supplies and ammo, they're cowards in the end. There will be no Mason-Dixon line. No Gettysburg or Fort Sumter. But there will be a few million that simply don't accept another Trump defeat and won't know how to react, they'll just take to the streets and act out. And they're the stupidest of the stupids. I have been around truly evil people all my life. Only person I fear though is the one in the corner, with nothing left to lose. I've grappled with 'em all, but the truly destitute and marginalized who believe in their core that somebody stole their validation. And multiply that by several million. That's when the movie gets unsettling. See y'all on the dark side of the moon...
  10. Let me guess, you're a "Student of History and/or the Constitution?"
  11. So the guy in saltwater wading boots extends Lobster Season only to then turn around and make sure ex-felons can't use a blow dryer as a weapon? All while trying blow Donald Trump to maybe get an Deputy AG post from which he'll be forced to resign from after 18 months after it's revealed he ate a lab-grown hamberder. Yeah, Life? It's been real. But this is ridiculous, even for our timeline.
  12. There's gotta be a prison shower joke in here somewhere if the soap on a rope has the courage to do what's right.
  13. Well to be fair, he generally comes in about 15 minutes late, using the side door. And just kinda "spaces out" for about 15 minutes.
  14. Yeah, good luck with that "intervention speech" with a sober 81 year-old. Worked out super for America when y'all tried it with Ginsberg. It just makes your party look disconcerted and chaotic. Enough with your naive "Hey, maybe college educated suburban women will come out for Biden because of the Roe ruling" -or- "The Youths and Blacks will sure turn out in greater numbers!" You have to punch Trump's middle voter bloc just enough so a few million stay home, but not so much they get out to vote to spite you. The rest of this is just performative nonsense. Oh yeah, that neighborhood canvassing effort can really turn things around. Everybody is locked in, even Biden. Only thing left to do is to ignore the first rule of voting, "Turning Out the Vote", and go the other way, "Keep People at Home." Nobody's changing horses 4 months before the election. But you can get people to stay in their stables.
  15. She sucked in 2016. Trump has sucked his whole life. Biden is on the brink of sucking for the short time he has left. As a precautionary measure, I contact Consulate General Gonzales to seek dual citizenship with Mexico as is my birthright. In addition, Consulate Schustermann in New York with the Israeli UN group to claim my right of return (along with my family). Other option is Portugal but it will take much longer. I suggest the rest of you keep buying ammo, or canned food, or whatever the fuck moronic shit you have planned. Because even if this goes the correct way, I'd rather prefer a war where people actually knew who they wanted to shoot and where. Versus what is coming, disenfranchised people who feel invalidated in myriad states just shooting to shoot with no clear end-game. Have it folks, good luck. See you on the dark side of the moon.
  16. So 2010 was the year that politics started getting corrupted? Good to know. Starting in 2006 or so, I would give bags of cash to staffers so they could go out and buy pre-paid Visa cards from myriad stores. Then pass them out to known folks who would use them to donate online to a particular action group or candidate. All hidden under the auspices of "under the campaign" limit. It's nothing compared to Citizens United kinda corporate money, but this has been going on in some form or fashion for centuries. I've had money wired to the account of regulatory and elected officials off-shore accounts more than once. When both entities know the other won't rat them out because they're both on the hook, mouths stay shut. Citizens United, unjust as it may seem, actually shed sunshine upon what we do every single day. At least it's out there for FOIA requests. Why risk a $20,000 grift with a 20% skim when you can get $200,000 in plain sight and nothing off the top? Think of Citizens United as Disinfectant. the horrifying truth of Citizens United isn't corporate donations to candidates or to oppose Democrats. It's real power lies in the fact that it's primarily used to suppress voter turnout in certain states and districts. People see XYZ corp or ABC political action group raised this much money for Mr. or Mrs. Senate Candidate. A lot of that money is donated and siphoned off to support efforts to get DA's, County Clerks, Secretaries of State, Judges, et. al. to make voter registration/early voting/election day activity more difficult. You can't do that through a state-approved line item budget. they push money through PAC's with a wink-wink, nudge-nudge understanding that it gets funneled down-stream to grassroots efforts to suppress voter activity. Give me $5mm dollars to get Ted Cruz re-elected and I'll fix Tarrant and Hidalgo County for a dozen other candidates. We've been running this scheme for decades.
  17. Capitalism is the least shitty system we've come up with yet. It has lifted more people out of poverty, out of illiteracy, out of underbanked and underserved than any other economic model in human history. Corporate donations aside, What our Federalist Democratic Republic did not account for is a failed 'Capitalist' game show host would convince tens of millions of people that he, and he alone, would save their financial futures. Capitalism sometimes crushes people unnecessarily. Sometimes Courts make rulings that run against the foundations of Democracy. And on occasion, the private sector & the government & the body politic are all to blame. But this, what has been happening for 8 years and will last another 8 years. This one is on us. We watched friends and relatives turn away from the light. And we just took solace in the idiotic notion "Well, at least their more civically engaged now..." Our prize mistake, a stunning lack of imagination. It's not capitalism to blame, it's not the ruling on corporate dollars, or Fox News. It's never just the one thing. We watched, in real time, people we love and admire, get hooked onto a drug of validation and we didn't do a fucking thing to prevent it. Think about that at the train depot when you're waving goodbye to your darker-skinned relatives.
  18. Well then dibs on ‘’Metamore’ for my 80’s cover band name.
  19. Just defending himself and his home. castle doctrine and all that. Doesn’t really fit the pattern to shoot yourself in the head afterwards, If you’re just exercising your rights. But hey, let’s get him a bigger gun next time.
  20. I know the term. It is my understanding it’s spelled “metamour’ like ‘paramour’, not metamore.
  21. So you mean ‘metamour’ not ‘metamore’? We all mistype but I thought it was like a new term I was Not hip to. Gotcha.
  22. Pos rep. Wasn't he supposedly the guy that she wrote that song about? Or an I thinking of "You're so Vain" by Carly.......the name of the next hurricane that's totally not gonna kill thousands of people? I bet you think this storm is about you, baby.
  23. Pos rep. I imagine an alternate introduction, "Thanks for tuning into KILL, channel 32 this evening. KUNT has the night off."
  24. Spoiler alert dude, they weren't gonna vote anyways. We're roughly the same age and have been hearing from MTV to pop-up ads this "Rock the Vote"/"Turn out the Youth" bullshit for 25 fucking years. Every cycle, a new wave of voters gets more access to more socio-political/geo-political information than ever before. And they still turn out in lower and lower numbers. It's a fucking non-starter. We're not special, but we're different. We've been hooked on politics since we were teenagers. Yeah, part of it was to seem edgy and cool and get laid like faking interest in the Dave Matthews Band. But we were genuinely interested. This whole fucking forum is an outlier. We're just nerds who have the luxury of sitting back as educated people with some modicum of success and freedom with which to onboard legitimate socio-political information. We're not stupid, but we're not smart. We just have the luxury to read and think critically and not have to protest shit we don't even comprehend on the off-chance it may result in a hand-job behind the paddy-wagon. The delicate balance is the most nuanced in American elections since the Civil War era. How do you ridicule enough middle-bloc Trump voters to sit this one out in certain states while not being so offensive to their snowflake self-compromise that they vote him anyway just to spite you. Fuck college aged voters, they never a fucking thing. And when they go home for Thanksgiving, it'll either be the best meal they've ever had in their lives or the start of a civil war. Thanks be to God, hallelujah, holy shit.......pass the gravy.
  25. Isn't Climate Denialism-cum-Hurricane Alarmism kinda ironic, don't you think?
