  1. We've all seen family members, neighbors, friends, and co-workers break over the years and fall for this ruse. Sometimes it's in person, sometimes it's in their emails or texts or linkedin feeds. Sometimes, it's a slow burn of a process, sometimes it happens in 24 hours. IMHO, we just be happening to see one play-out somewhere in the middle. Over the course of a few weeks, a seemingly normal and educated person just started succumbing to stupidity and is absorbing the negative feedback from other educated people as validation, instead of questioning the path taken and turning around. It has happened to hundreds of people that we know IRL. This is just a digitally documented case, that's all that makes him different.
  2. Most of 'em are good things to abide, but they're not exclusive to Christianity. It was written by a Jewish God, not Jesus. And many of those life lessons of guidance were around tens of thousands of years before Moses professed them to his people. It's not as if after that day, people putting down swords and thinking "Oh shit, I shouldn't be stabbing my neighbor after he caught me with his wife and trying to walk out with his gold." A Catholic standup comic friend had a bit about how the first three commandments are all about God telling us he's totally THE God and then brings up the mass chant of "Always and everywhere to give you praise, O' Lord." Like, is God an anxious 8th grade girl who needs constant validation that she's still the most popular in school? He rarely did it on stage because he couldn't get the wording/timing right, but I think the idea is funny. If Texas really wanted to make it a teaching moment, post the 10 Commandments. Fine by me. But do it their original language/script so at least the kids learn about a world bigger than their state government.
  3. I remember an NBC one when I was about 9 when 'Cheers' was just getting big. And they had on other big show names. I remember thinking it was so cool. Even had some pro athletes because NBC got the broadcast rights to the World Series and the Super Bowl. One of the streaming services would do well to throw us middle agers a bone and do one of these, kind of tongue-in-cheek. Half the actors don't even know this was a thing for network TV for two decades. Obviously there's no defined season kick-off in September for streaming shows like there was for network TV. But you could get at least 1 actor from a dozen of your series or more to show up. Just a 48-hour shoot, learning a dance routine and some schtick/parody each other's shows in sketch format. Nobody under 35 would understand what the hell they were watching, but everybody above that age would totally get it and it would get so much buzz, more than just their spliced-together-teaser videos that all look the same across platforms. Or do a 'Battle of Streaming Stars' and have the AppleTV+ actors compete against Hulu actors against Netflix actors against Paramount+ actors with some animated CGI from Disney and shit thrown in. That would grab the attention of 40+ crowed in a massive way, since we're the demographic paying for the service that our younger family members then use to login for free.
  4. I still don't know what KE/OP was going for here with Longhorn "MushroomHorn" Trump. But may I make one suggestion. That tiny gold lady's sports watch he wears to 'play' (cheat) at golf and tennis? The one that is walking contradiction just like him, it barely fits his fat wrist but compliments his tiny feminine hands very nicely. You know the one. Can you put that onto his wrist instead of that black band thing is? If you can do that, I can promise you'll turn some heads. It will stand out to his acolytes on this site and others. And they'll actually be confused by it. Then you release the hundreds of photos in which he's wearing that actual watch in real life 'playing' real sports. Please Please Please
  5. Not only that but dozens of people were hospitalized for following his idiotic advice. There may be fake news but I don’t know that there is fake bleach.
  6. Friday before OU game in Fort Worth. Can’t tell yet which direction it’s coming from Houston though. Theee different ways.
  7. Yeah, given all the security risks above...I'm starting to think he'll either take a heliport ride from somewhere in downtown Chicago paid for out of "legal fund" or some dumbass donor in Chicago will get him 2-3 jets (his group will need more than one) to leave from the Executive Airport just NW of downtown so they don't have to lockdown an FBO at ORD. Much as Trump would open with, "Can you believe this? They shut down O'Hare for me. Never been done before. Tremendous. No cargo getting through, which is fine because it's all from Chyna...which is in bed with the corrupt Biden family. So I'm actually delaying Chyna's takeover of our country. I have no doubt he could arrange one round-trip, but he's gotta go glad-hand to keep the grift going. So it's at least Monday-Thursday, with Sunday & Friday being distinct possibilities. That's a long burn, even for Chicago. I'm hoping for the heliport option. Because of Great Lakes Naval Station between the two large cities having priority, the ATC volume along the banks of Lake Michigan used as commercial queue for each, Rockford being a decent sized airport in between as well as some smaller strips in between. Helicopter traffic is frequently routed through the Waukesha/Elkhorn/McHenry/NW Suburbs/Loop helipad corridor. Coming back 4-5 nights in a row at midnight. A boy can dream...
  8. If Stephen Miller is around you for over 4 hours, consult a physician. Preferably, Dr. Kevorkian.
  9. Slash goes up to 11? "Yeah, the maths and music check out."
  10. Stephen Miller says "Hold my Beer", but with an erection. What about a "Sharknado" sequel tie-in where all the cancer-causing windmills cause some sort of electrical accident because they spin too fast and cause tornadoes that shut down the renewables grid and we have to choose between a cyclone-filled world of darkness or fighting the sharks in the ocean to establish undersea colonies? With some of Don, Jr.'s stash, I could have a script hammered out by next week.
  11. U.S. House 34, 2 State Senate races, a handful of Courts of Appeal bench elections, and about a dozen competitive State Leg. seats that are starved for cash and could make a bit of a difference. But nope, let's throw $70mm at Allred to lose by 8%+ to a guy who apparently might not be on the up-and-up according to recent news that's part of a 12-year pattern.
  12. Yeah, I think we know which direction it headed. But I gotta admit, I morbidly want to see just how bad it got that even A&M social media team was like, "Eh, we're treading into inciting hate crimes according to our GC."
  13. ^^^ I've been saying for years how much that actor, Michael Wincott, looks like a dark-haired (and more attractive) version of Marjorie Taylor-Greene.
  14. It's not that enthralling of a video given the landscape we're in right now. I'll give 'em both credit, even the officer. Both could have ramped up their tone and body language. the officer while being a little too pushy, at least actually did what he was "trained" to do and didn't escalate the situation. The troubling videos are where the person is either confused, surprised, compliant, declaring rights, or some combination thereof. And the officer just keeps getting louder and louder and more aggressive and is just fucking baffled as to how the situation didn't magically de-escalate itself. It's the equivalent of our new case precedence in shootings. I point my weapon at you because you're protesting or dropping off a pizza at my house. You instinctively try to push the weapon away/down or grab it. I could de-escalate as a responsible carrier of a firearm. Or I could take your completely natural instinct of self-preservation as an attempt to murder me or steal my house, and shoot you and declare it "self-defense."
  15. He covered 60 yards to make that catch (from his stance at bat impact to landing in glove) in just over 7 seconds. On grass, in cleats, while having to look back/up a few times to track the ball-not just running straight ahead. In an itchy woolen uniform, not a sleek track suit. 13 straight years with over 600 PA's and 100 runs scored, among so many other remarkable feats of consistent excellence. For a guy who hit 660 HR's and had over 300 total bases in 13 of his seasons, Willie Mays struck out more than 90 times only ONCE.
  16. ^ that reminds me of that great bit in Eddie Murphy's delirious where he talks about his mom throwing her sandal/shoe all the way upstairs, boomerang style. Comes back to her, she puts it back on and walks outta the house. His sound effects were amazing. Would have been even more funny if I hadn't had so many Mexican aunts throw theirs at my head as a child. Also reminds me of a great bit by Kyle Kinane (standup from 'but what about' Chicago). Where he's touring and in an open-carry state. And the dude next to him in line is carry a pistol in his board shorts and flip-flops. And like me, Kyle had a CHL for awhile (I think when he lived in Illinois or Oregon), but gave it up. Anyway, he's a scrubby looking guy even on-stage. But his bit is basically, "When you carry, have a holster, or pants, or at least a fucking belt. This dude's rocking a desert eagle in fucking swim trunks barely tied together by a wet string buying funyons and an RC cola. He's one margaritaville'd footwear mishap from accidentally killing the cashier. Anyway, check out the two bits online. Funny stuff.
  17. RussH, "Whoah! This guy fucks! This guy right here...he fucks. Amirite?"
  18. I was today years old when my otherwise cultured self learned there was cursive script in their language. Looks like I have yet another excuse not to learn Mandarin. I can't even read my own cursive handwriting anymore. I doubt I can just take up this ^ script in my late 40's to seem "global." I have to block print, slowly, if I want any shot in hell at anyone being able to read what I wrote. Although for some reason, my Spanish looks pretty good in cursive. I'm obviously insane.
  19. I still can't my head around the fact that Trump's sentencing is being handed down on the last day of "Shark Week 2024" I hope Jack Smith is gonna schedule a pre-trial hearing on January 6th. The date they're releasing a documentary on electricity for Benjamin Franklin's 320th birthday. 320, 321....whatever it takes. Also in the simulation: "Mr. Trump, you're now stating you cannot make the debate with President Biden after all. Because you have to help Barron get settled into his new college that week, is that correct?" -Yes, we want to see him off. You know it's a thing for parents to take their son to the dorms. Help them unpack, shop for things they need, take pictures, see them off tremendously. "Well yes, that's customary. Where is Barron attending college next year, sir?" -Everybody knows it. So I'll be unavailable that week. It's well known, it's all there.
  20. You know, I loved her as Paul on "The What the Fuck Years" on ABC opposite Fred Savage.
  21. To some above posts, Seger is holding up pretty well 40+ years later. I listen to "You'll Accompany Me" and several deeper cuts regularly. I didn't really appreciate him when I was younger. I'm sure I've rambled about this before, but in 1981, my dad got a new car with some "upgraded sound system" (he was a motown/blues/oldies junkie). Basically it was a cassette player instead of 8-track with 4 speakers instead of 2. But I used to love riding around with him on the weekends to run errands and listen to "his" music. Kids my age were listening to their parents disco or their older sibling's pop music bands of the early 1980s. And I got to listen to Sam Cooke, Tommy James, Etta James, Bobby Darin, Chuck Berry, and Martha & the Vandellas. He said they were called "Golden Oldies", though I later found out they were made just 20-25 years prior when my dad was older than I was then. "Oldies" were basically anything made between 1950-1965(ish). Ten years later, I hosted a Classic Rock show on 88.1FM. We considered the format to include anything from about 1965-1980. No disco, no pop, no rap, little bit of punk but not much. Just ten years removed from the end of our format, less time than "Oldies" format was removed from its unofficial ending. tl;dr........at what point do we change classifications? "Oldies" are now 60-75 year old songs. "Classic Rock" is now 45-60 years old. "80s Rock/Pop" is now 35-45 years old. Every genre we on this thread listening to has been completely reshuffled by the passage of time. What was once a 15 year old Led Zeppelin album to me is now 50 years old to me. Besides my grey hair, Baseball & Music is how I've marked the velocity of time.
  22. I like the subtle touch that unlike everybody else, he's not wearing a (face)mask. "#29, you have CTE" Donald, "Cognitive Trump Excellence? Yeah, that checks out. Man. Football. Field. TV. Diaper."
  23. I oscillate on which is better---he dies on camera or some public event, or dies quietly at home/hotel. Because the former-there's a record of it that people really can't deny but many will insist he was poisoned/drugged/quietly taken out. The latter, they won't be able to see so they can supplant their own conspiracy theories on top of it, which may cause fractionalization of the whole of MAGA nation. And chaos can be good for business. I picture Jeremy Piven in PCU, "Your thesis was electrocution v. sharks? (hands him binder) This is on electricity cancer from windmills v. electric eels, best I can do."
