  1. @Buzzrock Do not skip season 1. The show is good from the start, even without Devito. You'll be doing yourself a disservice. Season 1 they're still kind of finding their groove, but the chemistry is good from the start and the consistency is better than the majority of the last 4 or 5 seasons where many episodes are very hit or miss. It's not like it's a bad show just because Devito isn't there yet. The underage drinking one where they all go to prom is a classic, and like AI_4_ISU said, you'll miss a lot of world building with the characters' origins.
  2. Oh, yeah, he's a great actor. Game Night was one of the best comedies of the past decade and he was hilarious in it.
  3. He did. Dunst isn't a knockout, especially by Hollywood standards, but she's pretty cute and I've always liked her. Landry is Landry.
  4. I watched it the first time it was streaming on Netflix around 2014ish. I really liked it and will probably eventually run through it again some day. Loved that most of the high school cast turned over and the show didn't miss a beat rather than forcing people to pretend the same group of kids were playing football together for 5 years. The whole "there's an entire second high school in our little 4A town nobody talks about and they haven't had a football team until now" storyline seemed a bit unrealistic and out of nowhere, but it worked.
  5. I'm thankful for vaping in a personal selfish sense. I'm sure vaping is harmful too and may have bad side effects we don't even know about yet, but switching from smoking to vaping saved my dad's life. His O2 levels were low enough to the point that it would wake him up in the night and he was getting close to needing an oxygen tank. He switched from smoking to vaping and his oxygen levels returned to the normal range within the first year. I mean, yeah, he should have just quit smoking a long time ago, but he'd been addicted for 50+ years. I don't think that quitting was ever in the cards for him. He's absolutely better off vaping though. Agreed though that it's probably not a bad idea to try to discourage youth vaping along with smoking, though.
  6. Not gonna lie, that looks really terrible. I'm kind of disappointed that Seth Rogan has settled into this formula of "Let's just throw a bunch of bad words into animation and shows that look like they would otherwise appeal to kids" and thinks it's automatically funny.
  7. You just lost your life as far as your job goes. Agree with you on Ball Hog (didn't think it sucked, but it wasn't as good) and the more recent YMH episodes, but I prefer Tom's standup at his worst over Bert. And I don't have anything against Bert's standup. Tom's just a better comedian, IMO. Bert's just more of a funny personality. YMH is funnier with guests and too many have just been him and Christina rehashing the same bits ever since they moved to Austin. 2Bears1Cave has suffered too, though. I think they've been banking and saving up too many and going through the motions with all of the change and upheaval the past couple of years. There was one weeks ago where they were talking about seeing No Time To Die at the theater, and the next week Burt made some additional out of the blue comment on it without context. It felt like they recorded both podcasts back to back on the same day and Burt had forgotten that they were talking about that on the previous episode. That's just one example, but the both of them trying to marathon through episodes back to back to back and save them for weeks later I think is making the quality drag. I'm trying to find some new similar comedy podcasts to mix in, but I'm not having a ton of luck. Tiger Belly is okay but I can only take so much of Bobby Lee. Any other recs?
  8. I brought up the chopsticks thing too somewhere on this site or the old one and got pushback from a poster or two that I probably wasn't using them right. Wrong. Silverware is just more efficient and enjoyable to eat with. Food doesn't taste any different or better with chopsticks. I used to be self conscious about using silverware at an Asian place, but I finally quit giving a shit. If I'm at an Asian restaurant and they only set out chopsticks, I'm sending the waitress back to bring me a fork. The watch doesn't really serve a specific purpose anymore with always having a phone on me, but there's just something I like about it since I've always worn one. It's just a comfort thing and I like the way it looks. Luckily I don't work for big hay.
  9. The president getting photographed on private property behind a sign saying "masks required" with his mask under his chin when he is struggling to get half the country to follow simple guidelines is at a minimum a gaffe and looks bad. I stipulated that the Post sucks, but it's still not a good look. Even though Trump was terrible beyond belief it's still okay to point out things Biden could do better. He's not above reproach and criticism, no matter how big or small, even when it doesn't meet the level of storming the capitol. But message received. Consider me firmly put back in my place.
  10. There's real criticism warranted here if he's actually walking around with his mask on his chin. Not sure if he was or if someone snapped an ill timed photo when he maybe pulled it down for a second for whatever reason. This is the first I'm seeing of the pic and the New York Post isn't super reliable. I'm pretty sure plenty of us criticized the hell out of Trump for not wearing a mask or ever taking it seriously. I'm not going to give Biden leeway on something just because Trump did it too. When the people who do supposedly take it seriously and tell everyone else they need to mask up are caught not practicing what they preach, it need to be called out. There have been numerous photos of Democrats standing around talking and hugging in groups maskless just before putting them on for the photos and TV cameras, and it's a problem. Either you believe masks work and you follow the same guidelines you tell others to follow, or it's all theater and you're setting the same irresponsible example as Trump.
  11. I mean he's 52. He's not exactly a spring chicken. Although it is a two and a half decade head start on the age to run for president and win in this country, so who knows?
  12. Just going by the eyeball test and when looking at the season as a whole, let's not count Ohio State out of the top 4 playoff spots just yet. - some playoff committee member, probably
  13. Still makes the most sense geographically. We'll be in the same conference with our three biggest historical rivals. The top 3 programs of the SWC will be reunited. It's a positive for those reasons. It's just going to suck getting our asses kicked by everybody if someone doesn't figure out how to quickly turn this ship around. I'm also still not sold on the idea of super conferences. I'd be more than happy if someone could wave a magic wand and conferences go back to the original 1998 BCS conference affiliations.
  14. I just want to take this opportunity to thank Sleepy Joe for single handedly building the greatest economy the world has ever seen.
  15. Are y'all sure he wasn't talking about someone paying for BJ Foster to get playing time because he's black? Imagine seeing a team full of players lacking talent, most of whom are black, and your first thought is, "A couple of those who are also playing shitty are white. That has to be some conspiracy."
  16. I don't have any daughters, but I enjoy Taylor Swift on occasion because I like good music and she's pretty good at making it. She also collaborated with Aaron Dessner of The National for two albums that came out during the pandemic just before she started re-recording all her old ones. They're pretty good.
  17. I'm a year older than you and had internet from the time I was in 7th grade. I didn't have my own cell phone until college, but many my age had them in high school. I also had an Atari, and every system after that growing up. I'm a millenial. Not a single millenial grew up with a smartphone, which only started becoming ubiquitous in society in the last 15 years. A few of my millenial friends did briefly have pagers, though. Millenials are defined as people who would be graduating high school on or after the turn of the millenium or the year 2000 -- hence where the term "millenial" came from.
  18. Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays!
  19. It's strange seeing these guys suddenly pop up on SNL now. I went down a Twitter rabbit hole and discovered some of their skits and followed them last year. This was a good one from a while back.
