  1. A substantial portion of my area is without power this morning, possibly from the storms we had last night. The power company said it should have been back on by 7:30, but it wasnt. Others on Nextdoor said they were told not until late this afternoon. So I guess this is the first school holiday for all the kids around here.
  2. Oh, I believe you and will take your word for it. I'm definitely not any type of professional or even amateur photographer. But you don't see too many people walking around with real cameras these days.
  3. I thought the same thing. What do they sell there at this camera shop, iPhones?
  4. I'm equally concerned that half of all Democrats polled are planning on voting by mail with all the nonsense going on with the USPS. I'd given up on that idea a while ago.
  5. I think you're right. I felt bad that I couldn't remember season 3's song since that's one of my favorite shows of all-time, and I didn't bother searching because I thought it couldn't have been that memorable if I'm blanking on it. Apparently they did use a bunch of songs, including this one which is hilarious:

    Cobra Kai

I liked the show, but one thing I thought was out of place is how much time these kids seem to spend in their dojos, how much time has passed overall, and how much Karate they know as the series progresses, yet they're all......still white belts at the end??? It's been a couple of decades since I was in Karate as a kid, but I remember feeling like it only took about 5 minutes and showing you know a small handful of moves before they threw a yellow belt at you. The show is kind of corny overall, but also feels intentionally that way. Overall a nice nostalgia trip.
  8. I didn't major in geography and I'm not from there, so you'd probably know better than me and I'll take your word for it. Maybe a weekend trip is more accurate? I guess in my memories of driving to Colorado Springs, the drive always seemed to go by fairly quick once you were on the other side of Amarillo.
  9. Different strokes for different folks. If forced to choose I might choose to live in Amarillo over Chicago if the opportunity was there for me to make a living. Better traffic, better weather, and since it's Texas I'm assuming better Mexican food. Day trips to Colorado and New Mexico. Drawbacks are no pro sports, less cultured, and less opportunities. But let's not act like Amarillo is Vidor or College Station.
  10. There's so much wrong in this paragraph I'm not sure where to begin. Since this is the election thread and not the comedy/Jim Gaffigan thread I'm just going to ignore it.
  11. Yeah, and that's probably deserved, but I don't want to take someone's livelihood away. You have to be a real asshole/terrible driver for me to give you less than 5 stars.
  12. There are exceptions to every rule.
  13. Or coed bachelor/bachelorette parties with the bride and groom present. Nothing says this marriage is a great idea quite like "I don't trust you enough to go out with your friends without me present."
  14. It's rare, but occasionally I'll get an Uber or Lyft with a driver whose car smells like old stale smoke. It's the worst.

    Six Flags 1965

My Six Flags experiences were mainly from 1992-ish through 1998ish, elementary through high school. I've only been a couple of times since. I would ride anything as a kid and loved hitting up the newest and wildest rides, but I've developed somewhat of a fear of heights as an adult. That and reading about that one woman who fell out of the Texas Giant and died whose arm bar didn't lock, I've been much more reluctant to ride those types of rides regardless of how irrational statistically the fear may be.
  16. Pro-tip: If you're unsure of when to use whom or who, unless the phrase is "to whomever it may concern," always use "whoever" and nobody other than 0.0001% of people in America will question it or know when you're wrong.

    Six Flags 1965

I'm assuming this was the cave ride before it became Looney Tunes themed with Bugs Bunny hunting Yosemite Sam? If so, you're older than I took you for from your posts. It's been Looney Tunes themed as long as I can remember, and I'm close to 40.
  18. Last time he wasn't running as an incumbent with the powers of the president at his disposal, nor did he have an army of sycophants inside the government covering his ass, obstructing justice for him, and defending him like their lives depended on it who are already helping deploy measures to disrupt this election. A Biden win is far from guaranteed and everyone should be very nervous about a Trump re-election.
  19. In fairness to Trophy Nissan and the Bears, a lot of rap was pretty corny pre-NWA.
  20. What's stopping these so called poor people from taking the bus to the public library that MY tax dollars pay for, applying on their public computers, and then going home and waiting next to the landline for a call? I don't actually think the above is reasonable, but I've heard it argued during the "Obamaphone" crisis several years ago.
  21. What a gross person. I don't know who to feel more sorry for that they sleep with the other - her or Don, Jr.
  22. A much lesser crime? She walked into a stranger's house and murdered him in his own home. How is that "a lesser crime"? She only got 10 years for murdering somebody and will be released likely before she serves half of it.
