  1. Incredible piece of business for Wednesday.
  2. He was young and it was Newcastle, but it's hard for me to picture that dude having success in England.
  3. Incorrect. Jet's Pizza is pan-style and absolutely the best of the chains. Not as common as Domino's, Caesar's, etc, but there are def locations in Texas.
  4. Biden will absolutely double down on his previous positions like he always does.
  5. And Harris put/puts on a good show. She told a very personal, if scripted, story that hit a stumbling Biden right in the jaw. I have a feeling more of these are coming, and not just from Kamala.
  6. Love to be terrified of losing my job because it means I'd be absolutely fucked when it comes to insuring my family.
  7. Talented player, complete knucklehead. He should honestly come to MLS but it's probably China.
  8. I mean, I get it. But it's kind of a tired schtick. And shouldn't it be Brendan Rodgers w/ the binoculars? He bought four players from Southampton (Lovren, Lallana, Ricky Lambert, and Nathaniel Clyne) while Klopp bought two (Mané and VvD), while selling one (Danny Ings) back to Southampton.
  9. Yeah, I expect some terrible decisions from Ellis but I think we win in spite of her.
  10. They're far from the winners of the debate, but I was pleasantly surprised with the performances of Tim Ryan and Eric Swalwell. Kamala obviously tore Biden to shreds but I thought Swalwell had the zinger of the night when he got Biden on the "we need to pass the torch" line from 32 years ago. Ryan was super unpolished and fumbled a bit but I liked what he had to say. I really knew nothing about him coming into the debates and while he's nowhere near a contender for the nomination, I think he could be a darkhorse for the VP spot, depending on the nominee.
  11. Can't wait to see the Hoever/van den Berg partnership at the Club World Cup this year.
  12. Liverpool set to make first signing of the summer – 17-year old Dutch CB Sepp van den Berg He's been compared to Joe Gomez at the same age and we fought off the likes of Ajax and Bayern for his signature. In the ballpark of £2M.
  13. Liverpool set to sign coveted Dutch teenage CB (Oh, did you think it was someone else?)
  14. @Firemans4Horn is holding out for his dream move to Liverpool.
  15. Spent about 30 hours in New Orleans on our way to some fishing down in Delacroix. Hadn't been in a few years and was so good to be back. Carousel Lounge – great oyster/shrimp po boys and a fantastic piña colada, great people watching and a fun bar, though the table service sucks. Think there was one server for the whole place and it took forever to get our drinks. Longway Tavern – great courtyard and $5 drinks at happy hour, a block off Bourbon but tucked away from the riff raff. Wanted to try the food but didn't want to fill up before dinner. Felt like a mostly locals-only hangout in a good way. Chart Room – everything a dive bar should be. Good conversation w/ a mix of locals and had three barflies all mistakenly recognize me. La Petite Grocery – highlight of the trip was the blue crab beignets. The turtle bolognese was outstanding and the cheeseburger was very good. One of my favorite meals ever in New Orleans. Curio – solid breakfast on a nice patio overlooking the Quarter Cochon Butcher – always a must-stop for lunch. Didn't venture away from the muffaletta, even though I feel like I should branch out. A damn good sandwich, though I realize there are better in town. WWII Museum – the film narrated by Tom Hanks was awesome. The rest of the museum was great too and thorough as hell, but the film was for sure the highlight. Fishing in Delacroix was fantastic. Limited out (5 redfish apiece) within 20 minutes on our first day and had fun chasing bass and drum the rest of the week. The proximity to New Orleans is great and our group loved it.
  16. Did Alexis Sanchez make the Chile squad?
  17. Villa sign Brazilian striker Wesley from Club Brugge for £18M. Was the young player of the year in Belgium. Big guy, 10 goals and 9 assists in 28 appearances.
  18. I don't know that it would put Texas in play for the presidency, but I do think Beto would help the Dems down ticket, which is just as important. It'd also be funny to see Republicans have to spend resources campaigning for the president in Texas.
  19. Anecdotally, I'm pretty confident in this theory. I've always been Warren-curious, but at the same time skeptical. Once I got onboard, there's been no turning back. Sorry, Mayor Pete. Additionally, I think she's at worst palatable enough to the dirtbag left, and more optimistically she'll also win back a bunch of the Obama --> Trump voters. I really think the winning ticket is Warren/Pete.
  20. Going to be in New Orleans next week for two days/two nights, the book ends of a fishing trip to Delacroix. We have dinner reservations at La Petite Grocery and I'm thinking the WWII museum, as I'll be with some olds who will probably love that shit. Ramos Gin Fizz at the Roosevelt is also on the list.
  21. I don't disagree, but one thing I don't really get is the purported rift in the locker rooms of PL clubs when it comes to wages. I'm sure it would rub some players the wrong way if, for example, De Ligt came in at double the wages of VvD or Mané, but I feel like it's talked about incessantly in the English media, and not so much in American sports. Steph Curry is probably the most prominent example; his per year salary was #80 in the league prior to his max deal, which was obviously egregious, Christian Yelich, the reigning NL MVP, is making $9.7M this year, while teammate Lorenzo Cain is making $15M. I don't hear the American media talking much about discord in the locker room, but rather how "team-friendly" Yelich's contract is. Players signed a contract; in all likelihood they did this of their own free will, and they're making a shit ton of money. I realize that it impacts all of our wages going forward, and that it's hard to tell Mané he's gonna make less than a new 19-year old signing, but I feel like the idea of rifts in the locker room due to wage disparity is way overblown.
  22. PSG apparently offer De Ligt £340K/week which, obviously, puts us out of the running. That is insanity.
