  1. Hendo looks okay. Walking gingerly but looked to just be a knock on the kneecap.
  2. Biden's numbers w/ black voters is crazy to me. Then again Hillary, who employed mostly black slave labor while in the Arkansas' governor mansion, cruised to victory due to minority support throughout the south.
  3. And to the demographic formerly known as the middle class.
  4. I understand the not-gonna-get-my-hopes-up mentality, and to expect the most gut wrenching result possible, but Leicester is in damn good form (16 points from the last 21 available). I question how much Rodgers genuinely wants to help his former club – he didn't leave on the best of terms – but I doubt that will have any real impact on the result. Vardy in particular seems like just the kinda prick who would relish playing spoiler.
  5. Generally loathe ESPN but Wright Thompson is a helluva writer and he did a great piece on the title race, as well as general history of the city and club. A lot of it is Liverpool 101 kinda stuff but still well worth the read: Liverpool Rising by Wright Thompson
  6. To be fair, that criticism isn't unique in their household.
  7. You're absolutely correct. Part of it is just *how adorable!* it would be to have a gay First Gentleman, part of it is Pete's (and Chasten's) status as the media darling, and part of it is the blatant strategy of the Mayor Pete campaign to put his husband more or less front & center. While I do think there's some sexist reasons why the women in this campaign don't get/make much mention of their would-be First Gentlemen, I also can't even think of any of the other candidates' spouses being mentioned. I had to look up to see if Julian Castro was even married. For good reason, Bill Clinton took a backseat in Hillary's campaign.
  8. The media absolutely loves the term "First Gentleman".
  9. Made another donation in the form of some merch purchase:
  10. Gave money to her campaign this past weekend. If I could choose one candidate to become president, it would be Warren. I'm worried less about her electability the longer her campaign goes on, but it's hard to discount the misogynist idiot vote.
  11. At the risk of derailing the Mayor Pete thread, I think that the way a public-service-for-student-loan-debt-relief would work is not in a pure dollar-for-dollar sense, but rather wiping out a percentage of your debt. 50% relief in exchange for one year; 100% for two years. I don't know, just spitballing, but I agree that it shouldn't be a trivial amount and that it should be the equivalent of a high-paying job.
  12. It's the debate I have with my wife all the time – and my stance is that more experience as a legislator does not a better executive make. There's some benefit to having familiarity with how the sausage gets made, but ultimately most Congresspersons don't have a ton of experience in being the one who has to make the tough calls.
  13. Curious what my fellow Buttheads think about this: Pete Buttigieg Fired South Bend's Black Police Chief. It Still Stings. On the one hand, it's a very difficult situation for a young mayor, and if a ton of pressure was indeed being applied by the feds, I'm not sure what else he could have done. But I do feel like he should have been more sensitive in handling a number of aspects of that case. In some ways, it does make me doubt his readiness for the job – not necessarily how it all went down, but more so that the more someone is put through those kinds of tests, the better for everyone, and I'm not sure he's been through enough yet to be ready for the presidency.
  14. Pete is absolutely Page-side rage side.
  15. Doesn't Don Jr. know he's alienating 2/3 of the Republican base by suggesting that the moon landing was real?
  16. The player who had that incredible, miserable goal drought is joint top scorer in the league, despite not being Liverpool's penalty taker.
  17. Ha. I wasn't trying to be a dick, I honestly forgot Karius existed. And then I couldn't for the life of me think of who our 3rd-string keeper was and got very confused.
  18. I'm confused. Waffles is Mignolet (he's our keeper, our Belgian keeper), so who's Migz?
  19. Notice Pete's use of the phrase "sex worker". Not only is the call to look after sex workers a bold (and very much the correct) thing to do, framing it in religious terms is even more impressive. I guess calling Stormy Daniels an "adult film actress" would have been more sensitive, but getting up in arms over using the term "pornstar" borders on ridiculous.
