I wonder what would happen if aTm made critical thinking a required freshman course. As it is, those idiots have no idea what confirmation bias is, something which I think the average person learns in high school. It all begs the question, is aggy stupid because he went to college at aggy, or were they stupid first and that's why they chose aggy? Chicken/egg/sheep/aggy

critical thinking will take off at aggy when they end fish camp. so, never.

  2. possibly but unless you're tied down by a contract, why would you waste all that $$ on att? i've been on fi since 2015 and can't imagine going back to att. my monthly bill is ridiculously cheap (~$45) compared to when i was on att (~$90).

Others worth considering: Carolina Buckthorn, Bigtooth Maple, Caddo Maple, Texas Redbud, and Cedar Elms.

    thanks @cactusflinthead

i spoke to a guy who seemed to know quite a bit about planting trees in the austin area and he said to avoid bigtooth maple. when asked why, it seemed that he personally didn't like them for one reason or another, but i haven't read about any issues with bigtooth maples in the austin area. other than perhaps his personal preference, can you think of any reason why he would advise me to avoid them? otherwise, it looks like a unique alternative tree for the area.

  4. looking for some tree recommendations.

we have a large area that was recently cleared and it needs something other than ripped up soil and weeds. the space is wide open and won't be competing with any other trees. as for location, we're in nw austin. basically right next to bull creek park. we already have a good deal of live oaks and red oaks, so i'm interested in other species that might thrive. i'll likely plant juvenile trees between 6 and 12 feet tall. medium to large trees when they become adults.

Thinking of upgrading from my Pixel XL to something new. I'm on project fi so I'm limited to about 6 phones.  I'm definitely partial to Pixels so leaning to 2XL or 3XL..or maybe even wait for a 4xl.  Anyone have any input?

i have a 2xl and see no need to upgrade for awhile. as long as google is releasing updates, the 2xl is a solid smartphone.

12 years later she is doing great with her health but has to take days off of work to argue with insurance companies about billing errors, prescription problems, etc. Some of this is probably unavoidable in any system but holy shit if our system isn’t a beating. Her family in England is always shocked at what we have to deal with.

i'm lucky to have good insurance but still have to do this. it's all fucked up and i don't expect anything significant to happen in my lifetime. if anything, you have to learn how to work the system and not how to fight with your carrier/insurance. i certainly don't expect one person/party/group to create the tipping point.

  7. let the kid decide, without being influenced by the cost of attending. he sounds smart and will make it work.

with the creds that you mentioned, i'm having a hard time figuring out how he can't get a decent financial aid package at texas.
