  5. They won't have to; he's in for life, but he's probably going to die in office because he's a fat moron.
  6. I’m guessing that if that happens then we will end up with a couple of aircraft carrier task forces sent in to help defend Russia
  7. Mine was written by H.P. Lovecraft, directed by Wes Craven, and had a soundtrack by Rosanne Barr
  8. Based on my 2024, I’m pretty sure that’s on the list for 2025

  14. Cross-posted from the dog thread I just finished reading this book, about an English Pointer named Judy. It chronicles her fascinating life, which began on the streets of Shanghai just before WWII and continues as she becomes the mascot on board an English gunboat on the Yangtze River, her three years as a POW (the only canine officially recognized as a POW) in a brutal Japanese camp in Sumatra, and her eventual liberation along with the English airman that she bonded with in the POW camp. Judy survived the sinking of two ships, once by Japanese bombs and once by torpedo from an English submarine. She was also wounded in action. If you can finish this without it getting dusty, then you aren't really a dog lover.

  16. I think my favorite Longhorn football memories are camping out for OU tickets in the 70s and getting wasted on Commerce street the night before the game while fucking with okies
  17. I was kind of hoping we had our own Louisville cheerleader and Blacklab could change his avatar
  18. I only thought about CU for one week a year (maybe two in certain years) when UT was in the Big 12 and before CU bolted. Now I don’t think about them at all and don’t understand why any of you care one way or another.
  19. If both engines were out, they wouldn’t have had any electrical power for thrust reversers etc. it takes a little while to start the APU to regain electrical power so they might not have had time before landing. Dead stick landings are very difficult in modern airliners.
  20. Yes, that would all been in the landing checklist, but possibly the gear failure was a symptom of a more widespread system failure. Will all be in the NYSB report in a few months. Inability to deploy flaps might be why they were forced to land at a higher speed to avoid stalling.
  21. Sebastian and I went over to my mom’s house to make dinner for her tonight, like we do almost every night. She loves seeing Sebastian because she misses having a dog, but knows she’s not able to take care of one now. Anyway, when we got there she was asleep. I started making going through the kitchen making a grocery list and then I realized that Sebastian had disappeared. That’s when my mom screamed. Sebastian had gone into her bedroom and jumped into bed with her. I think he did it because he wanted to make sure she was awake for dinner since she always feeds him scraps no matter how many times I tell her not to.
  22. Flaps aren’t used to slow the plane. Flaps are designed to increase the wing’s lift and prevent stalling at slower speeds, which is why they are deployed during landing. Speed brakes are used to slow the plane down at landing. Flaps are on the trailing edge of the wing and extend downward. Speed brakes are on the surface of the wing and pop up. At least it’s looking like the tv series Air Disasters is going to have plenty of material for the upcoming 25th season
  23. we should all strive to protect corporate CEOs with our thoughts and prayers since that seems to work for school children
