Counterpoint:  we have a regular UPS driver who comes in, makes small talk with the secretaries up front, then proceeds to spend about 10 minutes taking a shit in our public bathroom, then will fetch himself a bottle of water from our breakroom.

Are you disgruntled because your office is next to the facilities or the fact this man is most likely using your bottled water as a make shift bidet?

I agree.  I will be sitting down with my 16 year old this year to review my ballot, research candidates and measures I’m not familiar with and fill it out so he’s familiar with the process of how to not just be a voter, but how to be an informed voter.

Or as some would characterize such citizens: a threat.

Apropos of youth voting, I was excited when I turned 18 and got to vote.   Yeah the process of educating yourself is a bit dry, but that mild annoyance was nothing compared to the thrill of legally doing something "The Man" didn't want you to do.  Not only that, they can't stop you!  And they're a bit scared your generation will figure it out.   As a kid growing up in the 70s & 80s I felt it was a very punk thing to do.   Fuck those old establishment clowns.    It took me a few weeks to figure out not many other kids outside of my friend group had thought about it,  never mind shared my enthusiasm.

    As the song says...

    "They say you're stupid
That you're too young to vote
    They say you'll swallow anything
That they shove down your throat
    They say you can't think
That you haven't got a brain
That you're just there to listen
    That you're just being trained"

can anyone not a finance bro give me a 1-2 line summary of why this rate cut is happening now and if it's good/bad and what it's indicative of? wish US economics was on my continuing education list for my license, but sadly it's not.

it's kinda cool after all the iterations of this board over the years I feel comfortable asking this question here. past versions of the cloak room would have seen hyenas pouncing on meat after that question. also loaded with insults. lots and lots of insults.

Video is like 2 mins and will answer all of your questions

    Spoiler

Very bigly good news that SCOWI re-approved drop boxes then.  Best part of voting in CO - ballot shows up at my mailbox, check off all my options and then I'd drop it in a drop box on my way to work.

Counter point.  I did that exact same thing in 2020.  I checked the status on the local supervisor of elections website.  Guess what?   Our first ballots were never received/counted and I had to get replacements sent out.  The second ballots showed received the day after we dropped them off.  I don't know what went wrong with the first set, but this year I'm just going to vote in person @ during early voting.

TL/DR Vote, but if you do vote on an absentee ballot check your status

Yeah, Trump got more votes in California (that he lost by 29 points) than he got in Texas (which he won).

Biden's votes in TX+FL combined is still fewer than what he got in California, and he lost both of those states by not close margins.  California's population is just fucking staggering. 17.5 million votes in California and the next closest was Texas at 11.3 million.  California was 11% of the total votes cast in 2020 out of 50 states + DC

Still only 2 senators!  *Laughs in Wyoming* (pop 580K)

One of my favorite guns to shoot ever. I think this one is a late 40s model 62. I looked it up at one point years ago. I think 1946 maybe. The boys always beg to shoot it.

My father has one similar to that, but I haven't seen it in years and years.

My favorite to shoot is a Stevens Favorite No. 17.  I dare you to shoot $5 worth of .22 in a day.  It'll take forever.   But it makes every shot an investment

My dad purchased a gun because of threats associated with China Virus and concerns about racist assaults. Honestly, he went a little off the deep end, but not without reason. Fucking infuriating.

Welp, I already had plenty of guns and the wife and I both have concealed carry licenses.  I rarely rarely carried, but I do now sometimes (still not often).   I'm not a tactical bro, at all, so I would rather turn the other cheek and walk away than escalate.  But since Covid it doesn't feel like they just want to insult you anymore, it feels like they want to do real harm.  Call me a race traitor all you want, I'll laugh that weak shit off.  During the pandemic I've had a few folks bow up and stare like they wanted to go.

Immigrants and minorities have always been targeted for blame. Hell during the Great Depression we rounded up LEGAL Mexican nationality but American born citizens and deported them. Or convinced Ford to lay them off so America could get rid of them.

Most of my MAGA family members are scared immigrants are taking jobs and their children's future jobs. They are definitely mostly pieces of shit but that's the reasoning. That and 90% of the people around them are Republicans and don't want to be an outcast.
