  1. You know what is in a lake? https://www.cdc.gov/naegleria/about/index.html "Typically, fewer than 10 people a year in the United States get PAM. Nearly everyone who gets PAM dies from it." ameba > shark
  2. baked bean balaclava
  3. I think this about sums it up... "I'm fed up of personal agendas and jockeying for position," he(Sir Robert Buckland) added, warning that the upcoming Tory leadership contest was "going to be like a group of bald men arguing over a comb".
  4. now at 410
  5. tooth decay or push/pull doors
  6. Got it stripped down to the frame. PSA if you are going to install stuff on a bike use some %$@#!$% grease! The cranks and the drive side BB cup did NOT want to come off. I might need to use the vice to get the peddles off too. Here she is... she's got a fat ass, but she's light AF. I tried to find a place to Hot Tank the frame and just start over on the paint... but that's a no go so far. I think I'm going to prep and rattle can over the bare spots. No dings or deep scratches, but this factory paint job is absolute shit. Some of the paint is just flaking off. meh... it'll add to the character.
  7. want to bet? Klein was known for his funky tube shapes also the stamped the logo near the dropouts see image below Bike thieves are in the running for the fucking worst humans on the planet. I just don't want to give them a reason to even think it might be worth pinching. I want it to look like a beater walmart special, but ride like dream. I'll keep it locked up, but I don't want to have to worry too much about it either. Just don't want disk for a casual bike. I have some nice light old levers laying around. less weight, less rotating mass, less unsprung weight, less hassle (bleeding), less noise, shorter cable runs. Do they stop as well as disk? nope but that's ok. Yup gonna use the Klein. Have a Salsa fork I'm going to put on it and see how stupid it looks. But it'll tame the geometry.
  8. CSB: Back in the early 00s I put together a company in Grenada and was looking at buying some of the smaller private islands for development or resale. White Island just SE of Carriacou was one of the targets. Fucking beautiful and remote but ultimately the geology wasn't right and the politics, welp that's a whole 'nother thing entirely. I can assure you that everything but the volcanic plug was under water... Very flat and low Still for sale... $9.5 mill (IIRC it was ~1.6 back in the day)
  9. Good source. ymmv
  10. Thinking about building a light weight fully rigid 26" mtb for fitness rides, heading to the beach, or grabbing a coffee. I know this isn't cost effective but I'm looking for a character vintagey cool ride These are the goals: Bullet proof / simple Great ride/feel light weight a bit stealth (much better ride than how it looks) These are my choice of frames (I have both bikes hanging in the garage not pictured below): klein Pulse (Trek) but made in the USA... I love this frame and have ridden one a fair bit before. PROS: Fast Efficient Light Cheap (Trek Kleins aren't collectable like the originals) CONS: Chain suck Klein dropouts Even debadged it's not stealthy (chainstays and seatstays give it away) Frame transmits every bump or pebble straight to your ass RIP TINKER Rear hub axle broken Very aggressive geometry Giant XTC SE1 Made in Tiawan... Never rode this exact frame, but it looks well built (overbuilt) PROS: Frame looks a little funky and already has cool patina Debadged it'd be unrecognizable Funky rear braded hydraulic line (if it can be salvaged) More laid back frame geometry CONS: Requires disk brakes (for this I prefer simple linear brakes, less noise, cleaner cable route) It's already a franken bike and I'm not sure how much can be saved Don't know the bike, it might suck What say you Surly?
  11. But have it performed by Pitbull DALE!
  12. I was today years old when I learned that Ineos Grenadier is an SUV... go figure
  13. free Florida lobster tail
  14. They added a single day season (if you are a Florida resident with a permit) to take lobster before the normal 2 day "mini season" that comes prior to the commercial and regular seasons. Mini season is a shit show, because everyone with something that can float will descend from Dade/Broward to be out on the water fighting for lobster... and I do mean fighting. People will get run over, shot at, left behind, and arrested. The boat ramps are swamped, the reefs and coral heads have thousands of boats on them. Think Floridaman + coolers of beer + free lobster + Bumper boats. The Keys are JAMMED with people and boats for a wild west style lobster grab. The locals (who are also insufferable) are pissed because their towns are overrun with people just "raping their" natural resources! So the GOP decided to spring an extra day of mini season on them, unleashing the hoard with no real economic benefit to the locals. The Keys are basically populated with salty blue collar rednecks and rich folks from parts north. tl/dr It's a conflict generated by good ole fashioned Florida overtourism and the Keys evolving into exclusive playground for the rich.
  15. oh man, I am so embarrassed to say I liked that song when it came out (not really the ska/wrap thing) and I still kinda like it... association and whatnot. If it gets the girls gyrating and in a certain frame of mind though... I struggle to argue otherwise Never knew his name or any of their other stuff. I was shocked by the music store video above and the fact he was 49... Ho lee shit the power of decisions!
  16. Florida a spanish name that is clearly 'male' jfc so Florido now? On a side note, shorty has been doing all sorts of weird shit to win back good will. A conservative leaning friend who lives in the Keys said all the locals are pissed about his special one day pre mini lobster season. Something no one wants, no asked for, and will punish a deep red part of the state. I think even the kool aid drinkers are starting to see him for who he is.
  17. Yeah I got the point and concede that the states were admitted via a political process to balance various interests (most long since irrelevant) But I was going more for a blame the red state morons approach. Which I think everybody got... but if not read on My comment was meant to convey There are effective controls on the courts (despite hyperbolic posts to the contrary) Those controls are largely wielded by the senate in the form of approval/consent (I know the house is needed for impeachment) The fact that the senate has not wisely used (or used at all) those controls is an indictment of their constituents because... Senators are sent via a state wide election so that local level fuckery is not an excuse for shitty, unethical, hacks diddling the levers of power instead of wielding them
  18. Yeah I get that, but my point is that Florida and Texas have bat shit crazy senators... you can't just blame the game (politics) you've got to blame the player (our fellow iggit countrymen)
