  1. You’re right. It’s playing for the win (or at least lead) in regulation rather than playing for the tie and OT.
  2. Because if you lose THIS gamble you still have a chance to make up for it, and based on the odds you are likely to convert once out of the two attempts. Go for two after only the second TD and you may not have time to make up for it. I get that most coaches play for the tie and don’t bother with it because it puts themselves in the crosshairs if the first attempt doesn’t succeed. John Harbaugh, among others, uses this strategy.
  3. The odds of converting a two point conversion are roughly 50%, so over two attempts, odds say you’ll make it once, to at least tie, which you’d also do by kicking both times. You’re gambling to make the first attempt and get the advantage to take the lead in regulation. They didn’t so now they’re at the disadvantage but over both attempts that’s what analytics say is the correct play. I know most people don’t like it.
  4. You go for two because if you make it this time, now you are down 6 and can take the lead with a PAT. They missed but can still tie by converting the next two point conversion.
  5. Love the 2 point attempt. Should have just run Howard though
  6. Who is the third best team in the Big 12? This game really says to me that there’s a very high chance of a RRS rematch in Arlington.
  7. Anyone know for sure if you can enter the fair on the Pennsylvania Ave side; gate 7, 8, or 9, for example? I assume you can, they are listed as "gates" after all, but the parking map shows only shows gates 1-6 as pedestrian gates, so maybe those other gates are exit only? I'm parking on that side and Gate 6 on MLK was a clusterfuck last year (admittedly we got there later than usual) so considering strategies to avoid and expedite entry.
  8. I park for free on the street around there every year. Occasionally you'll get a resident claiming the public street in front of his house is off limits, but we've had no other issues.
  9. Not displaying the headlines from articles linked in tweets is incredibly annoying.
  10. Respect to the fan who took a game ball launched into the north stands around the 85th minute, sprinted up the steps and bolted out of the stadium. Couldn’t quite see from 316 if he made it all the way out but I assume he did.
  11. I recall one year, 2008 I believe, it was also strewn with bags of dicks.
  12. Just walk around the fair, try some of the interesting food (new items here: https://bigtex.com/new-foods-map/), maybe get on a ride. There's also the Auto Show area to check out new cars and trucks, or the livestock area, if any of that is your kind of thing. Check out the state fair website to see if anything piques the boys interest https://bigtex.com/plan-your-visit/map/
  13. Could be that OU fans just didn’t care to show up there last year.
  14. I know why they were doing it. I’ve been to the game every year since 2002 but could have sworn I noticed recently they stopped putting that OU section there. It’s possible I was just drunker than before.
  15. I'm pretty sure the last few years they haven't had OU fans in that section opposite the tunnel.
  16. I feel good about our chances in this one, but this game has a tendency to go against expectation (several times in our favor), so I'm definitely nervous. ESPN Gameday has been to this game in 01, 02, 08, 09, 11, 18, 21, and 23, which is a decent indicator of the "biggest" recent matchups in the series. I couldn't quickly find what the point spreads were in 2001 and 2002 (assume they were pretty close), but other than 2009, Texas was the underdog in all the others until 2023. So it's an unusual feeling going into Saturday of a "big" RRS as the clear favorite.

  18. Might be a bit longer walk but gates 3 or 4 are usually pretty quick. I walked right past the huge crowd at gate 7 today and pretty much got right in.
  19. Yes and Rod Gilmore didn’t even look at it the one time they showed the full replay.
  20. Yeah has to be intentional grounding if not down, right?
  21. Quite a few players carted off with injuries in these evening games tonight, two for WVU.
