Whelp.
I guess nothing to do but sit back and see if they manage to save the ACA funding anyway. If they fuck this up they have only themselves to blame. It sure feels like they just surrendered.
Ah well. We had almost a week to feel like things were turning around for this party we are all stuck with.
Communism just means to increase taxes on the rich by 2%. I am ready to join the vanguard of this radical extreme revolution comrade if common sense conservatism means letting Elon Musk loot 1 trillion dollars from our economy.
Yeah. I don't see any legal basis for killing somebody for knocking on your door. I cannot imagine that would generate much interest in law school. If that is ambigous then society as we know it is dead.
Surely a crime needs to be in the act of being committed before you can "stand your ground"? You can't just have feelings and therefore kill somebody.
Is knocking on a door really unlawful entry? I was not aware there were laws against knocking on doors. So if you knock on a door you are exposing yourself to being legally killed?
I am somewhat doubtful that is true even in Texas.
This interview makes me ragey. George Stephanopolous referring to the billionaires who are all going to flee to Florida as "job creators." Yeah ok we created tons of these billionaires and I have yet to see all these great jobs they were supposed to create. Gig work jobs and some job you are going to be laid off from every quarter. And a ton of ghost jobs.
Both the ladies who won in Virginia and New Jersey seemed very unimpressive to me. But granted I am basing that opinion on their victory speeches, they would have been fine speeches 20 years ago but seemed out of touch with the current moment. But maybe they are actually good leaders. I don't know.
Once we start making things affordable and trying to solve pressing social problems instead of just hoping rich people will magically solve them, everybody will be muslim!
Seems a pretty damning indictment of Christianity.
It was barely temporary. To me the lesson is the election is not the end of the struggle, it is just the beginning. Things have to go well in New York now.
Exactly. Now maybe those numbers are just reflective of those specific states that voted: Virginia, New York, and New Jersey. But if they comparing national voters vs this most recent election it doesn't necessarily mean the tide has turned. Things will be more clear next year. The battle has only begun.
Hope so. I am still getting PTSD from 2008 and 2020 when we thought something great had happened.
The election went better than expected but the triumphalism makes me nervous. This is a bit like beating Sam Houston State on week 1 and declaring the national championship inevitable. My dudes the right still controls all three branches of government and we are potentially decades away from undoing all that they have done even in ideal circumstances. This is no time for complacency.
