  1. It is all just a big joke to them. I don't really get the joke, but I am sure it is funny to them.
  2. It is just my best guess. There are other possibilities.
  3. That is why the economy is going to have a recession? Man the Trump economy really is weird.
  4. That is not even a joke. He and his allies believe that the best way to achieve immunity to a disease is just to have everybody have the disease. The mass death will leave behind an immune remnant. But of course we have centuries of this behind us. We know how it works. Eventually a new generation will be born without those immunities and the whole process repeats. Taking vaccines achieves the same result without all the sickness and death. And getting treatment for any of those diseases will be enormously expensive for most Americans, so they will attempt to ride it out...allowing easily treatable diseases like tuberculosis to kill thousands and spread throughout the population.

They are banned. The public money part says: So if you do provide or facilitate any of those services, like teaching them at a medical school, you are banned from receiving government money period. Not just funding for those sorts of procedures. So even if you do those sorts of procedures for cash only, you aren't getting public money for other things. You can do gender affirming care to help intersex people conform to be male or female. I guess when nature fails to do the natural thing and make just male and females, then the government can intervene. You know, to make people natural.
  6. If I were to guess based on that information, Hackman died of natural causes and his wife then committed suicide. The dog was locked in a crate so starved to death. Gruesome.
  7. Now Elon is taking a big government contract from his competitors, blaming them for problems he himself caused in the FAA. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/elon-musk-slams-verizon-s-tech-pushes-for-faa-to-adopt-starlink/ar-AA1zVEUm Yeah so...just so happens that the company YOU are CEO of is going to save the day huh? Thanks to the crisis you created by bribing the President? This is the most nakedly corrupt thing I have ever seen.
  8. Donald Trump seems intent on killing the CHIPS act: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/trump-is-trying-to-kill-the-chips-act-that-could-tank-these-2-ai-stocks/ar-AA1zL7Nk And then the article goes on to say INTEL and AMD are fucked by this. So maybe sell those stocks or whatever. Logic and common sense seem to have no place in the Trump Whitehouse.
  9. John Green has been working to fight TB for years. Fighting tuberculosis is waste and fraud I guess according to Elon Musk.
  10. Hackman dying at 95 is sad but understandable. His wife, dying in her 60s, is something else. Something happened there. It wasn't natural causes whatever it was.
  11. If they are lucky. A sad end to a once legendary baseball team. Also: entirely deserved and self-inflicted.
  12. Ironically, of course, the framers themselves quickly fell into factionalism and started gerrymandering to crush local interests themselves. Gerrymanding named for Elbridge Gerry, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The assumptions made by many of the framers turned out to be wrong. But we managed to still make it work until very recently.
  13. Is this where the As are going to be playing next year?
  14. Um...you sure? They had a good team in 2022. Yes. One that could have gone to Omaha but they blew it. But besides that? They had a losing record last year. 2022 is their only trip to the Regionals in over a decade. They aren't that good. Having one good team does not make you a good program.
  15. I think it is traditional to not drop teams in the rankings until they lose a series, but losing your Tuesday game will probably drop them even if they end up sweeping this weekend.
  16. Yeah I don't need to see these guys in the NCAA tournament.
  17. So? Gerrymandering is still bad. And just worse today since you can use computers to gerrymander with shocking precision. I have heard that some states do things a bit better, like maybe Pennsylvania. Supposedly, but I don't live in Pennsylvania and don't know if that is true. Just what I heard. And frankly I don't even know the value of single member districts anyway. My representative is a do-nothing waste of space who just votes with his party. There is nothing specific you get from him you wouldn't get from another member of his party from Florida or Oregon or wherever. Nothing he does that specifically represents my part of Texas. We might as well just assign the representatives proportionally. But I don't know. Maybe some reps actually do pretend to care about the specific needs of their district and are not just party hacks.
  18. That fraud is not in the park service or social security. It is in big contracts for big business and in the military-industrial complex. So fat chance any of that goes away. But, as I have said, even if Elon Musk and DOGE did a great job and massively increased government efficiency while reducing waste and fraud at an almost platonic level...it will all be for nothing because it would be swallowed up in the tax cuts. The debt will continue to grow. But of course they are actually currently making government very much less able to do its job and don't seem to be cutting much actual waste and fraud.
  19. Well no...not those kinds of personal liberties. The liberty to not have anything between the benevolent Bezos and his blessed servants.
  20. I am glad to see Jeff Bezos is going all in on personal liberties. I am sure he is going to start attacking extra-judicial abuses of authority by the police and state surveillance and voter suppression and freedom of speech and the right to privacy. I look forward to him Facebook and other big tech entities for abusing those rights. Should happen any day now.
  21. Heh. I did have this thought that ultimately we are going to rehire all the posts DOGE fired and restore all the departments they cut just much more expensive and less efficient. Because that is just how it always seems to go with these efficiency schemes.
  22. He specifically promised he knew nothing about this. Whoops.
  23. If you are Texas State? No. Enjoy this shit, you don't know when it will happen again.
