  1. Yeah but with wind and solar farms you can lease that land instead of purchasing it and especially with wind farms you can still use it for other productive purposes. And just like gas plants, the location of a wind farm or solar farm will have to be close-ish to transmission assets. But oil and gas production takes a shitload of electricity, will be done often in very inaccessible places, and will require large transmission projects as well. As we are currently doing in Texas with our Permian Basin Project at a cost to ratepayers, that's you and me, of 13+ billion dollars. That is a lot of transmission.
  2. Yes. That is how they work. I think everybody understands that wind and solar are not operating at theoretical max production capacity. They need wind and sun to generate power. I presume anybody working in that industry understands how basic engineering works. Next you will tell me coal plants require a constant stream of coal and operate by lighting a giant fireball in a boiler.
  3. If fusion works out everything else would be forgotten, not just renewables, for sure. But that isn't a certain future. Whenever we go for conventional nukes some disaster always undermines the effort.
  4. I feel bad because I started watching his show way back at the beginning because I was a huge fan of Newsradio. And I defended and supported this dude for years. But in 2021 he lost the plot entirely. Covid I guess. Amazing how a thing that Trump managed so badly ended up benefiting Trump a ton.
  5. Well the problem I have had with the Democrats is that we do have this core of corporate Democrats and a depressing amount of just straight traitors who get elected saying they are going to help the poor and advance progressive causes just to betray us. Obviously Obama is the main example of this with how he bailed out the big banks instead of the people back in 2009. The social issues are a great way to obscure this. Which is frustrating to me because I do care a lot about those issues, and they get hijacked by big business to distract us from their regressive actions. Even Elon Musk pretended to be leftwing this way. I disagree that progressives have necessarily done this, but rather that is the corporate and moderate game to pretend they are still allies to the left. But despite all of this Joe Biden did do more pro-union and pro-labor things than any President in a long time and things like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau were good for the working class. So despite everything the Democrats are still better so I vote for them. But yeah they have largely been bad on working class economic interests. The party is loaded with traitors, turncoats, and false friends.
  6. They do. But renewables have their good points. Much lower entry costs. You can put solar panels on your house, but harder to get a generator to run constantly during daylight hours or set up your own gas turbine in your backyard. And that extends to larger scale as well. Easier (well...less costly) to set up some wind turbines or a solar farm than a coal plant, presuming you have access to the transmission network. Though obviously if you do have gas plant money that is a better investment. But I do like that there is an access point for small business in energy generation. And renewables are getting better all the time. Though the wind turbine people are always going: OUR NEW PRODUCT HAS AN EROI OF 44!!!111 Yeah ok guys, just hit 20 first ok?
  7. Duplantier on to close it out.
  8. Farmer got a hit and suddenly he is an All-American! Oh wait you mean the other two guys.
  9. And the Inning finally ends. That right fielder must feel great about himself.
  10. Wild Pitch makes it a 8 run two out rally. 12-4 Texas
  11. Can we mercy rule them in the 5th?
  12. A little seven run two out rally.
  13. And he can score from first on a double with two outs! 9-4 Texas
  14. Yeah Farmer! You did it!
  15. Man you got to score from first on a double with two outs. Come on.
  16. Look at all these little league runs!
  17. Come on Galvan, move him over!
  18. What a wasted chance. Farmer has got to put the ball in play in a situation like that.
  19. Damn. Wish we had scored on that.
