  1. Whelp. I guess nothing to do but sit back and see if they manage to save the ACA funding anyway. If they fuck this up they have only themselves to blame. It sure feels like they just surrendered. Ah well. We had almost a week to feel like things were turning around for this party we are all stuck with.
  2. They were terrified that they were winning elections and getting too popular. Can't have that.
  3. Yeah let's have vote when we won't have any leverage and will lose. Brilliant. If they do this we will have suffered for nothing.
  4. Win an election and immediately surrender getting nothing in return. No matter how low my expectations are somehow they disappoint me anyway.
  5. Communism just means to increase taxes on the rich by 2%. I am ready to join the vanguard of this radical extreme revolution comrade if common sense conservatism means letting Elon Musk loot 1 trillion dollars from our economy.
  6. If it was rent, somebody else would fix stuff. Seems worse than renting.
  7. What is the way forward? The same old shit that got us Trump? No thanks.
  8. Interesting to see who San Fran picks in her place. Thank God at least one of these 80 year olds is able to hang it up.
  9. Yeah. I don't see any legal basis for killing somebody for knocking on your door. I cannot imagine that would generate much interest in law school. If that is ambigous then society as we know it is dead. Surely a crime needs to be in the act of being committed before you can "stand your ground"? You can't just have feelings and therefore kill somebody.
  10. Is knocking on a door really unlawful entry? I was not aware there were laws against knocking on doors. So if you knock on a door you are exposing yourself to being legally killed? I am somewhat doubtful that is true even in Texas.
  11. "Indoctrination" is just code for I am tired of losing open debates.
  12. This interview makes me ragey. George Stephanopolous referring to the billionaires who are all going to flee to Florida as "job creators." Yeah ok we created tons of these billionaires and I have yet to see all these great jobs they were supposed to create. Gig work jobs and some job you are going to be laid off from every quarter. And a ton of ghost jobs.
  13. Both the ladies who won in Virginia and New Jersey seemed very unimpressive to me. But granted I am basing that opinion on their victory speeches, they would have been fine speeches 20 years ago but seemed out of touch with the current moment. But maybe they are actually good leaders. I don't know.
  14. Once we start making things affordable and trying to solve pressing social problems instead of just hoping rich people will magically solve them, everybody will be muslim! Seems a pretty damning indictment of Christianity.
  15. People got to eat.
  16. Energy costs are way down? LOL? Maybe he means oil prices. Of course low oil prices is bad news for the Permian Basin.
  17. It was barely temporary. To me the lesson is the election is not the end of the struggle, it is just the beginning. Things have to go well in New York now.
  18. Yeah well Thomas Jefferson also dated a black woman.
  19. Exactly. Now maybe those numbers are just reflective of those specific states that voted: Virginia, New York, and New Jersey. But if they comparing national voters vs this most recent election it doesn't necessarily mean the tide has turned. Things will be more clear next year. The battle has only begun. Hope so. I am still getting PTSD from 2008 and 2020 when we thought something great had happened.
  20. Yeah well...we'll see. Let's see those kind of results in Texas or Florida among Hispanic/Latinos then we will talk.
  21. The election went better than expected but the triumphalism makes me nervous. This is a bit like beating Sam Houston State on week 1 and declaring the national championship inevitable. My dudes the right still controls all three branches of government and we are potentially decades away from undoing all that they have done even in ideal circumstances. This is no time for complacency.
  22. Glad to see Lina Khan's name there.
  23. They are so sure this is a massive bubble they want to secure their bailout beforehand. Smart. I hate them all so much.
  24. Ah good. That was ridiculous even for him.
  25. He refuses to pay even with it is with our money. Amazing.
