  1. That was always my thought. We just lift the sanctions and we would bring down that regime with our money and crap in no time. But it is what it is. I do hold out hope that once that regime does fall then certain Cuban immigrants go home and find their roots.
  2. I thought the Pahlevis were usurpers who only ran the country a short time before they got booted out. But what do I know? My only concern is that monarchy isn't just a mascot like in Sweden or the UK or something in that part of the world. They tend to actually want to control things. But really none of my business. If that is what the Iranians want, may they get it.
  3. The murderers had been in lock down and had a backlog on their "to kill" list.
  4. Of course.
  5. Just to clarify I don't care about the fall of the Venezuelan regime. I would just rather we didn't do it. The idea I would shed tears over any of those assholes is laughable.
  6. I wish the Iranian protestors well and hope for their success. I also hope we stay out of it. Fortunately we don't have anybody in the country who could be taken hostage this time.
  7. I don't know about all that but Maduro sure did look weirdly calm and happy about being captured. Granted it was probably machismo and not an indicator of anything but it was striking.
  8. That was the most kurt article ever written. Just backhanded compliments everywhere. Like what kind of losers allow the Michigan Wolverines to ever have the lead in a game?
  9. Well yeah. That is the thing. Walz failed to stop a massive fraud. He wasn't the corrupt asshole doing the fraud himself which seems to be what Republicans do.
  10. Trump can get away with it. We'll see how well this super power continues to work without him.
  11. Walz was basically done anyway. He wasn't going to be able to run for President or VP after being a loser. He had one more term as governor and then he was done right? So it wasn't like he had some big political career ahead of him. Franken on the other hand...
  12. Yeah well I would rather Schumer step down because of his repeated failures, but what are you going to do?
  13. Yeah well Walz isn't going to jail. He is taking personal responsibility and not wanting to be the reason the Republicans win the governorship of Minnesota.
  14. He fucked up though. He let some big fraud happen under his watch. Now granted I don't live in Minnesota so I don't know the details. I don't know the extent he personally was responsible but the buck has to stop somewhere.
  15. Hell I wish plenty of our other Democratic politicians would step aside once they become a liability.
  16. Well he had a good run. Nice that a scandal can still take a politician down. And he didn't even commit the fraud, it was just committed under his watch. Hope we find somebody good to replace him.
  17. You are reflexively non-interventionist but you want us to start acting like a big powerful country that invades any country that interferes with our national interests? I think it just may be that somebody can, in fact, possibly be more non-interventionist than Matt Walsh.
  18. Well yeah. Congress is irrelevant and powerless, unlike the oil companies.
  19. Yep. My best investment is just sitting around in my safe. Though the stock market was great, which is good since other things did so badly I had to pull lots of money out of my stock portfolio...and still ended up with more money at the end of the year. The Markets are insane and make no sense. Just glad I can benefit.
  20. That was all I was saying. For the most part they aren't harming anybody. Except the pooping lady. We haven't made being poor illegal yet in the United States.

Denmark was one of those NATO allies that usually supported our stupid military adventures. Fine way to repay them.
  22. Rents have gone down recently. That might be helping with the homeless issue. I don't have a problem downtown at all. But granted I am a native Austinite and I lived downtown for years before eventually moving north as I got priced out. I certainly would have raised my family there if I could have. That does give me a certain perspective. I always enjoyed and chatted with the weird Austin guys you would find in parks and just hanging around on the streets. I certainly remember Leslie. In the 1990s I used to buy cigarettes just to hand them out to weird Austin guys. I didn't even smoke. So maybe the homeless people just don't really bother me much. I haven't seen any injecting themselves to be fair but for sure plenty of those guys' brains are pretty fried. They usually don't make me feel unsafe except for the occasional screamer, but that's pretty rare. Today things just seem much nicer than they used to be. If some city regulation is causing some business some issues then that should be addressed but it is hard to be convinced it is really hard to build or renovate anything when everything has been radically built up and renovated in the past few decades. But I don't know. I am up here in Cedar Park now so I am a little out of touch with city political issues despite being downtown several times a week.
  23. Dude really really hates Tim Walz
  24. To the people who say the US is only interested in our oil...you are absolutely right. Wow. really got them there.
