  1. People got to eat.
  2. Energy costs are way down? LOL? Maybe he means oil prices. Of course low oil prices is bad news for the Permian Basin.
  3. It was barely temporary. To me the lesson is the election is not the end of the struggle, it is just the beginning. Things have to go well in New York now.
  4. Yeah well Thomas Jefferson also dated a black woman.
  5. Exactly. Now maybe those numbers are just reflective of those specific states that voted: Virginia, New York, and New Jersey. But if they comparing national voters vs this most recent election it doesn't necessarily mean the tide has turned. Things will be more clear next year. The battle has only begun. Hope so. I am still getting PTSD from 2008 and 2020 when we thought something great had happened.
  6. Yeah well...we'll see. Let's see those kind of results in Texas or Florida among Hispanic/Latinos then we will talk.
  7. The election went better than expected but the triumphalism makes me nervous. This is a bit like beating Sam Houston State on week 1 and declaring the national championship inevitable. My dudes the right still controls all three branches of government and we are potentially decades away from undoing all that they have done even in ideal circumstances. This is no time for complacency.
  8. Glad to see Lina Khan's name there.
  9. They are so sure this is a massive bubble they want to secure their bailout beforehand. Smart. I hate them all so much.
  10. Ah good. That was ridiculous even for him.
  11. He refuses to pay even with it is with our money. Amazing.
  12. Yeah if hate could make the Longhorns win we would be getting ready for our 40th national championship.
  13. Yeah well, what else is new?
  14. Sounds to me like it is annoyance at the extent of unwanted attention.
  15. I personally think they should either shit or get off the pot. Having millions of non-represented people as part of our Union is frankly embarrasing. Same with the other inhabited territories (or commonwealth or whatever the fuck their technical legal status is). Being a territory was never supposed to be a permanent status. Except for DC but...that was a special case. So either go be your own country or join ours. But pretty far down the list of priorities. Yes. I am aware. They have technically voted to join the Union a few times, with the caveats that you just stated. However, unless Congress votes to admit them it doesn't matter and I don't see Congress doing that any time soon, even if PR was 100% for becoming a state.
  16. Well it is a double edged sword. If it starves the school districts of funds we will have to increase property taxes to make up for it. So in the long run it might not help us at all. But we will see.
  17. We have been warning the Republicans about this. The more they gerrymander the more everybody will. Granted some Blue States, like Illinois, always seemed to be about that life.
  18. Yeah but he probably won't be the last in the NYFD or NYPD to do some dramatic bitchy shit like this.
  19. This is the most bizarre timeline. Since when does a local government persons position on Israel matter? On the other hand this is what I am concerned about. Mamdani winning is only the beginning. He must be successful. And a lot of the powers that be are going to conspire to undermine him. He will need all his supporters to stay engaged and help him all they can.
  20. The fact that an 18 year old recognizes him at all has got to please Wallace Shawn. That's almost...inconcievable.
  21. I don't believe PR was ever offered statehood.
  22. Yeah. Welcome to the internet. I know people are just fucking around but I do miss the days when shit was just whispered in the corner to your buddies in the bar.
  23. Taylor Rehmet will probably lose the runoff but that is a good sign. Trump trying to cook Texas with more gerrymandering might backfire.
  24. 100% agree. And next year? Try the next three. If the Democrats take control of Congress in 2026, the Trump regime will simply ignore Congress and the Supreme Court will let him.
