  1. Time to send Bevo to do Albert’s job. Well, almost time.
  2. He really likes to say that trust is built with consistency over time. The hard part is making the progress in the meantime while learning that the results of the trust are positive. During that process, you can get Iowa State games, or even Arkansas games, and you have to have a plan in place to weather those. At this point, I think the results speak for themselves, both from a team and individual point of view. Add in the ability to recruit for personality as well as skill set reasons and you strengthen things even more. I think it’s pretty clear that this is a top-down scenario but Sarkisian and the staff can’t be everywhere, all the time. It feels like he’s building a “if you want to beat Ohio State…” mindset not just in the superhuman QB and team leader, but in almost everyone. Obviously, you have his success in planning and development, but a decent number of coaches have that. I think, as cheesy as it sounds, his redemption arc and his willingness to share it goes a long way toward getting buy-in and trust in a way doesn’t run the risk of self-immolation the way a totally hardass — and I get that he’s a hardass when it comes to expectations and coaching hard — approach might. He seems really driven, but maybe not psychotically so. I think he, especially in the era of NIL, has a chance to build a program that rivals or even exceeds Royal’s machine at a national scale. A lot of that, I think, is not just his accountability but in the accountability his approach builds in his players and the way they see themselves as part of a team — the QB room, the receiver room, etc. — but who can still shine individually when it’s their time. At least, you know, with my orange glasses on.
  3. Cool, thanks. That’s what I thought you meant, but I wasn’t completely sure.
  4. For the 70-80% who return, it’s basically a two year process to get back to (approximately) where they were?
  5. El cáncer, por supuesto.
  6. Probably so, but I think Texas could try to frame it around big performances in big wins, rather than kicking poor teams when they’re down. Putting up numbers against Michigan, OU, UGA, A&M, and in the SEC championship game says more than continuing to pummel CSU or UTSA. Still, an uphill battle.
  7. Do you know what they call cancer in Spanish?
  8. Or the defenses getting gashed all the way down the field who make a stop on one play and dance.
  9. If it can be used for marketing, it has meaning. How are you distinguishing “useless” from “meaningless” here?
  10. It’s like saying “begs the question” when he means “raises the question.” It’s a signal to stop listening.
  11. How does Baxter’s rehab timeline fit with the portal timeline? Is there going to be time for a definitive positive outcome before a portal decision must be made?
  12. Which is it: meaningless or used for marketing?
  13. 127°, imo, if you’re going to do that. And with a thicker cut.
  14. I wish I had more faith in Missouri. Following up these “but muh 12th man” posts with empty seats would be nice. I just don’t think Missouri is much of anything, wherever they play. It looks like a slap fight, either way. I hope I’m wrong.
  15. Fair enough. I think there’s nothing remotely special or appealing about it. It’s a 70k generic structure. Mckinney or Allen would be more impressive if they needed 70k seats.
  16. It’s a glorified high school stadium but, yes, I agree with the rest.
  17. Medium and boneless and butter basted? JFC, will someone, anyone please commit or talk about committing. Please.
  18. He can only fuck their football team figuratively, though.
  19. He said, “Words” can fuck right off. But, yeah, I’d prefer he not say it.
  20. Agreed. Blue’s fumbles and Cook’s drop allowed them to stick with the run more than Texas’ defense did. Protect the ball, and catch it, and Texas may have gotten 10 sacks.
  21. You’re telling me what I want to believe, too, so I like to see it. If I can get the bottom of the order out without showing the top of the order that I have a curve, why wouldn’t I? With my burnt orange glasses on, the appearance that Texas had the confidence to stick with the generic plan is encouraging in that they didn’t see MSU doing anything that was going to threaten the outcome even against a defense that was designed to encourage them to do what they were doing.
  22. 14-14.5 seems about right to me, the guy who knows he’s too much of a dumbass to make money betting. I think Texas covers and I’m not sure OU is even capable of a back door cover against Texas’ depth.
