  1. The way it appears to me with a cursory look: A. Won’t apply. B. Won’t break tie. C. Won’t break tie. D. This may sort out who plays and who doesn’t.
  2. Cumulative conference winning percentage of opponents might be the first criterion that weeds out teams. Which probably doesn’t help Texas.
  3. Agreed. Given how fundamental they are to what Sarkisian wants to do, improvement there seems pretty important. I’m pretty confident it will get sorted.
  4. Again. As well as he’s done for his first real action, he’s missed a couple of throws that were easier than some of the ones he’s hit. Really looking forward to seeing him once everything has slowed down for him. He seems good at football.
  5. According to Sarkisian, that was exactly the plan. He wasn’t scared they were going to drive the field for points four yards at a time. He didn’t want to be RPO’ed with quick throws. He wanted passes to be drop backs. Take away the TD on which there was holding and they scored six. None in the second half. It was frustrating to watch, as was some of the tackling, but they made Mississippi State do exactly what they wanted them to do.
  6. The run defense was frustrating to watch, even given the circumstances. “Epic fail” is more fitting for a drunken rant in a game thread, though Sacks come out of rushing yards, so that skews the picture a little.
  7. I feel like the success rate of “Book it” posts is probably somewhere lower than 10%. On the upside, “book it” is shorter than “I’m an idiot throwing out a hot take I wish would happen but that everyone will forget when it doesn’t.”
  8. It would be annoying hearing the yapping heads yap about it, but I wouldn’t be especially heartbroken for Texas to drop. As a practical matter, it’s irrelevant. As a philosophical matter, despite the clear buy-in on culture, humans are humans and a little dose of “maybe you’re going to need to double down on the focus — and do better against the run” heading into a bye week and OU wouldn’t be the worse thing ever.
  9. Especially after the ticky tack stuff that had been called the other way. Be strict, or let them do whatever, but be consistent.
  10. And, yeah, the metallic blue pants, not silver, and royal blue jerseys, not navy.
  11. I’m sure you like the gif, but I’m good to go in the “Blue” part. I thought it was JAY-den not jay-DEN.
  12. Hell, I’ve been saying Blue’s first name incorrectly, apparently.
  13. I wonder if they game the seeding to try to avoid that. I mean, I get you need to may need to beat them anyway, but even the networks realize 15-0 Texas and 15-1 Alabama, e.g., is a better final than semi. Will be interesting.
  14. Who knows how it evolves over time but, at the moment, the 5th seed looks like the loser of the SEC championship game or, perhaps, the SEC team that lost a tiebreaker and didn’t play in the game. Maybe the B1G instead of SEC, I suppose. What am I failing to consider other than a random banner year for the ACC or Notre Fucking Dame?
  15. And, imo, Sarkisian has made it pretty clear that he knows the polls mean nothing and that having depth for the kind of run he thinks this team can make means everything. Combine that with awarding snaps to those who buy in and make the effort and you’re looking at a guy who feels no need to curb stomp for style and is content, and confident, in playing and creating depth with the dual benefits of preserving starters and keeping more people’s heads in the game, while adding one at a time to the win column.
  16. I think both fan bases realize their team has been supplanted and it’s kind of a buzzkill for them.
  17. Agreed. 41 points looks like two field goals and I don’t see two drives stalling. IMO, if Texas doesn’t hit 40+ it will be for much the same reason Texas only put 31 on Michigan: it will be more than enough against in incompetent offense and just getting out of there will become the goal. If, god forbid, Texas needed 40+, Texas could get 40+, imo. I don’t see OU doing much with the ball. Barring turnovers, Texas is likely to have a decent number of possessions and decent field position against a D that realizes it has no support.
  18. Zero down, two to go. Unlikely to get both this season, but not impossible.
  19. I didn’t see anything indisputable to show me that VT didn’t come down with the ball in bounds for the winning TD. I didn’t see anything indisputable to show me that VT didn’t bobble to ball at some point until it was touched by someone out of bounds. Either call, TD or not, should have stood. But, I’m just some random guy who watches football with no stake in the conference.
  20. Joey Aboussie. Not everything I remember is something I want to remember.
