  1. They’ve consistently been either favored or the second choice to win the MAC.
  2. I read somewhere, but am insufficiently motivated to look for it, that Earl feels bad for Robertson for the ubiquity of that video. He said that Robertson was a good LB and it’s a shame that his name is basically associated with that one play, now.
  3. I think they have a decent number of good songs, but stuff like Rock You Like a Hurricane props them up more than merited, imo. I like their semi-older stuff — No One Like You and The Zoo, e.g. — more. I’m not saying they’re bad by any means. They’re like a top twenty team that somehow made it into top ten.
  4. They’re both o-ver-ra-ted clap, clap clap, clap, clap. Still, the Aggies will always have 1938 and Scorpions will always have The Zoo.
  5. He’s right but he somehow doesn’t grasp that Aggies are the fucking scorpions. It is their nature. They wouldn’t be Aggies, otherwise.
  6. Could != would. You’re talking about Earl Campell-level players. There aren’t many of those. Having an NFL future isn’t the same as being NFL ready. That your two NBA examples, where the NBA is nothing much like the NFL, were two of the greatest players of all time shows how ridiculous the concept is, imo, as far as having any meaningful impact on anything.
  7. How many 18 year olds do you see being drafted, even if they were available? The idea that having talent valuable at the college level means they think they’re already pro material seems very poorly thought out.
  8. Neither one will start tomorrow; it’s a Friday.
  9. I mean, there’s a lot to unpack there, but Lebby likes Texas’ inside linebackers? “Likes” as in “covets” or “likes” as in “sees them as vulnerabilities”? It feels like the only way that post could be more wrong would be if it were longer. Every word squeezes the maximum stupidity per syllable.
  10. Texas would absolutely run the Farm/Ranch conference.
  11. They only maybe want to hear about the sips on game week because otherwise the focus is too much and like a little brother. How long did those clowns spend building a bonfire?
  12. Totally fair. Like I said, I may not even be reading it the way he meant it. I don’t want to rehash Sarkisian’s trajectory. I think he was stuck with a rotten culture, a roster he didn’t like, and probably a little stubbornness about how he wished things already were than how they really were, but that may just be my post-hoc rationalizations. But, yeah, a grown-ass man getting paid generational money every year is fair game for criticism, imo.
  13. I didn’t read it that way. I think he’s referring to people who almost resent that they were wrong about Sarkisian and might even low-key prefer that he fail so they can come out with the I-told-you-sos. That is, their feelings and egos are more important than Texas’ actual success. But I may be misinterpreting him.
  14. I get the concept, but I struggle to imagine street car Lamborghinis without the aura of cool, trendy, and hype, regardless. Maybe for some company trying to get into the supercar/hypercar market, yeah. Lamborghini is, afaik, already basically a cultural synonym for that market. Maybe it pulls people away from Ferrari or something. Interesting question.
  15. Perhaps this has already been answered, but how do you put the NIL genie back in the bottle even if there are other avenues for payment? The NFL salary cap, for example, doesn’t purport to limit a player’s advertising income, does it?
  16. Letting 18 year olds be draft eligible isn’t going to change anything.
  17. If all conferences were equally strong, sure. The 7th best conference champion over an 11-1 SEC team is almost certainly going to be nonsensical.
  18. OU doesn’t need to focus on boring stuff like the offensive line. QBs are the lifeblood of a program and they can elevate the entire team. A steady flow of QBs in and out of Norman is the way to achieve the desired outcome.
