  1. I doubt UTSA could beat Florida, but Florida does come to Austin, so that should be fun.
  2. Self-awareness seems not to be a strong suit.
  3. Hunter vs. hunted. I question whether it actually makes any difference, but Texas needs to get used to meeting or exceeding expectations.
  4. Sarkisian will try to win by 2 or 3 TDs? Seems pretty unlikely.
  5. Not technically. Top 4 conference champions.
  6. I mean, they “matter” in a broad sense, but the bye comes with winning the SEC and not having four conference champions ranked higher.
  7. At least he’s not month to month.
  8. So people really do think Manning can keep a healthy Ewers on the bench? Good times.
  9. ULM isn’t good. For the most part, Sarkisian runs the offense even with backups, rather than simply grinding clock on the ground.
  10. Looks like a missing vote, which is probably the only thing that would make sense.
  11. UGA lost 8 first place votes and gained points. Seems odd.
  12. Were there a lot of Pipp references when Murphy took over for an injured Ewers last season? I must’ve missed them.
  13. No A&M? Hard to take him seriously.
  14. At least Gehrig and Brady accomplished great things. What a shitshow being Romo’ed would be.
  15. Both imply Ewers lost the starting job. My question is whether that’s actually being implied. Because “he got hurt and he’ll be back when he’s ready” is SOP and doesn’t require a reference to Pipp.
  16. Wally Pipp got replaced for all eternity. Wally Pipp opted out for a minor injury (according to the story, which isn’t true, either). Neither applies here. Apparently it’s not as clear a reference to you as it should be.
  17. There’s a much better scenario for moving up than this one. I’d rather see the better scenario play out.
  18. No, I’m not emotionally invested. I’m asking what your opinion is. Wally Pipp didn’t take over for “weeks.” The “if Ewers can’t go” is the crux of the issue, though. If Ewers can’t go, of course Manning plays. A photo of Wally Pipp doesn’t imply “waiting for Ewers to be good to go,” though.
  19. You don’t really believe what that photo implies, do you?
  20. Agreed. I mean, Sarkisian says that’s never what this offense is going to be, but it’s something they have in their back pocket. Honestly, though, if I’m in the position and Manning is the go-to guy, if I call anything like that Manning slides at the first sign of impending contact and I have a pass built off that look.
  21. And I’m agreeing with you other than the claim that the DCs at top programs are scared by that run.
  22. Quinn isn’t a statue, either, though, so I’m not sure how much actual difference there is other than one looks to find secondary receivers better.
  23. I doubt it scares the shit out of any good team. If I’m playing Texas, I’d much rather have him trying to run the ball so we can get shots at him than have him looking at second and third reads from the pocket. He’s no Wingo, Bond, Cook, Golden, etc. It’s not a look they’d see with Ewers in the game, so that’s something, but I doubt it’s going to keep anyone up at night, especially knowing if Manning is in Owen is probably next up.
  24. Ewers has shown enough mobility and Manning isn’t going to be featured in the running game. I think “try to keep them in the pocket” covers both.
