  1. I’m not a professional, but I could use the highlighter on a lot of stuff in DSM-5 about now.
  2. He’s going to do the same thing he does every week, Pinky.
  3. I don’t think there’s any way short of an absolute beatdown or injuries in the championship game that you put a team who wasn’t good enough to get there above one that was. You were the third best team before the game. You’re still the third best team.
  4. That’s exactly what Sarkisian just said. He didn’t use the same words, but he basically said that a guy Bolden’s size doesn’t get where he is without needing a wheelbarrow to haul his ball around. And that that absolutely was a culture play.
  5. Perhaps you’re a little slow on the uptake that no one here gives a fuck about the leagues. It’s about Texas. You want to talk about “at times” from a program that didn’t accomplish an outrageous amount until there was a bag game, well, whatever.
  6. Maybe this staff will double tap the “Texas doesn’t develop players” take, once and for all.
  7. Texas has been big time since before you were born. GTFO with that nonsense.
  8. Yes, there are things to work on. After the well rehashed slow start, there was one possession in which Texas didn’t have its way with a pretty decent defense, so it’s not exactly the end of the world just yet. A-game Texas is, I think, pretty clearly the best team in the country. The task is to produce those A games. Sarkisian, as he often says, coaches the QBs hard. Maybe this week a little more than usual.
  9. Exactly. First, he was following the play the way he was taught. Second, he was actually watching the play and you can see the exact moment he quickly changes his angle to go for the ball. Third, he absolutely busted his ass to be the first one there while the Sooners fucking jogged. Fourth, you can see him come under control to recover the ball and not just slide out of bounds with it. Fifth, he rolls over with the ball and the whole fucking world can see he possessed it in bounds. Athletic skills. Awareness. Hustle. Football smarts. It was a bad ass play and the stories of it will probably outlive him. Any coach at any level could show that play and say, “This is how you play the game.”
  10. I sat next to a guy who wanted Sarkisian to pull Ewers in the first quarter. I just acted like I couldn’t hear him.
  11. I know a guy who was on the team who swears to God he told Akers that if he’s going to leave the D on the field in case of a fake, he should tell them to run off the field as soon as the ball is in the air. I blamed the wrong guy for about 20 years.
  12. It’s even worse. Through some manipulation of space time, they get credit for a peaking team, even if they played them at a low point. See, when Texas beats Alabama early and Alabama improves, Texas’ win must be diminished. When A&M beats Florida early and Florida improves, A&M’s win is only bolstered. They’re so batshit that I’m tempted to create an account to ask them why they get credit for beating later Florida even if previous Florida was bad, but Texas doesn’t get credit for beating later Alabama even if previous Alabama was good. But then I remember you can’t reason someone out of a position he didn’t reason himself into.
  13. Is it stupid aggression and arrogance or is it probabilities? Seems to me that if you need the points, there are plenty of situations in which four downs on offense are more useful. But, sure, maybe he should fucking turtle and kick field goals in the game where he can show Texas doesn’t play a gauntlet, Texas is the gauntlet.
  14. God, yes, let’s all hope he dials back the aggression against a better defense. That should be fucking glorious, Greg.
  15. If the plan always was to use four downs, I’d have expected a run on third, too. I guess that’s the O part of RPO. More points would’ve been nice but the game was functionally over and Texas was just pushing those fucks around for multiple 10/11 plays drives. Curb stomping their O and pulling the heart out of their D made for an enjoyable Saturday. I’ll give them credit for having the better punter.
  16. The sips are so lucky. I wonder if the SEC will even bother having a champion in these down times.
  17. Sarkisian said that all summer but, damn, huevos of titanium fielding some of those punts without a fair catch. In its way, that’s even more impressive to me than his threat as a returner, which is substantial itself.
  18. Routine for Sarkisian or routine for college football?
  19. Yeah, he seems fine. Fred Akers’ late game management was some bullshit.
  20. Hey, it was a hard-fought win, I mean loss.
  21. Montana State 38 Idaho 7 Oregon 24 Idaho 14 They’ll deepthroat Oregon because they’re not Texas but if Texas had beaten fucking Idaho by 10 at home, not one of them would ever shut up about it.
  22. Harbaugh wasn’t building a monster he’d have to get past every season.
  23. As long as the checks don’t bounce, it’s acceptable. Don’t pretend there’s some kind of camaraderie or esprit de corps, though. There isn’t.
  24. And this is how you stack mad skill players to execute behind the large humans up front. It feels like the avalanche is just starting.
