  1. https://www.etsy.com/shop/HeroPropsStore
  2. I know a guy that makes theatre props for a living that is making Fifth Element Multi-pass holders for vaccine cards, which is how I would go if I needed a card holder.
  3. Given our track record in meddling, might be a spot to let the Cubans handle it themselves
  4. No, it’s that you can’t go custom hire shit done easily because the labor force left in the great migration. Doing everything yourself is expensive and time consuming if you don’t have the network base to do stuff. Sitting here in Nebraska, I can fill a pen at a feedlot with three text messages, never see that cattle and not have to worry if there there, that they’ll get fed, and that you’ll have a market. It’d probably take me 5 text messages if I picked up the lease on farm ground anywhere in the state to get it farmed with me doing any of the labor. If you don’t have that, it’s going to be harder to produce in that area.
  5. Anything existing acreages are being snapped up pretty quick. Haven’t seen much on new development yet, and around here’s there’s enough old home sites, chunks of grass etc that leaves corners around for right now. It’ll be interesting to see how some of new comers do that have shown up lately without prior connections and going backwards in the level of amenities offered
  6. She’s not wrong about network effects. There’s a reason we raise livestock where we do, packing plants are where they are, certain food crops are grown where they are.
  7. I’ll just note that 4-H hasn’t had any issues as far as I know, and has been teaching useful stuff to all manner of youth for a long time.
  8. Dwayne Andreas would be proud of this.
  9. Of course if we successfully shuffle more kids into the trades, it probably isn’t going to do a fucking bit of good for the short staffed service industry
  10. The OWH mouthpiece has him getting fired because he rarely came to work and let his deputies handle everything. Guy I know from church stuff that got caught in the Covid layoffs last year basically confirmed that was the case.
  11. Is Chipotle entitled to enough workers to run a location at low wages? There are going to be less workers entering to workforce in coming years. If you are dependent on that category of worker to make your enterprise work, you are going to have a bad time if you don’t get ahead of that.
  12. Sure they can exist, but you can’t bitch too loudly about not being able to fill them, and probably don’t want to build a business around them in coming years.
  13. If the jobs are filling what are they bitching about then? Also, I'll assume they've done the demographic research to prove that the labor pool isn't shrinking demographically, that'll be facing increased competition anyway coming forward.
  14. If the jobs aren't filling at 2.13+tips, doesn't that suggest the employer is mispricing the market?
  15. Are you under the impression that the Catholic Church hierarchy is in lock step on all issues?
  16. Given that Biden has never at any point stopped being a regular at Mass, how the fuck was he going to come out as a lapsed or former Catholic?
  17. If there that lazy too, why are these businesses wanting to hire them?
  18. If you are dependent on transitional high turnover labor, you probably want to make good and sure that pool is going to stay deep enough for you to push in. Smaller yearly cohorts turning 18 every year into the 2030's aren't going to make it any easier coming forward, regardless of what gov't policy is.
  19. I’d venture to guess that servers in a place like that have to put up with a tremendous amount of bullshit for that up to 120k
  20. I was pretty shocked when I found out that most of the time Catholic communion was just a wafer. Being ELCA Lutheran we make with the wine every time, and allow anyone who wants communion to take it
  21. China buying 8 boats of the PNW helped a bunch
  22. Biggest one day down move in the soybean market today. Corn locked limit too, as did hogs with fat cattle close.
  23. I’m blessed that when my Aggie relatives in Lee County introduced me to Juneteenth while I was down visiting from Nebraska by explaining that it’s when freedom was proclaimed in Texas and then took to some shed out in the country somewhere between Giddings and LaGrange and introduced me to brisket.(the meat, not the poster) instead that Texags mess.
  24. They were dangling ridiculous trade value in front me which if they had something I wanted would have been pretty tempting to upgrade into a less cursed vehicle
  25. I’d been planning on trading in my current vehicle this summer because it’s getting to be time too, or committing to driving the wheels off. Talked the guy I like to deal with, told me that nothing to be had on popular Ford models in this model year, can’t even put in an order. They implied they could probably put me in a Jeep, but I didn’t have them do an inventory search or anything yet to see if that’s true. Might look at a 4Runner but can’t imagine they aren’t in short supply at this point too. Has anyone else tried to buy anything recently?
