  1. That's what my parents wanted to do. Turned into just doing what you see above. A lot of expense went into making the property livable: cut a road, bridge the creek, install electric poles, dig a well, septic, gas, etc.
  2. Interesting. I believe all the little nooks have a spray foam in them. I'll have to check. My dad is 72. We've had a couple of family/friends that build a house and then kick off when they finish. My dad has already told the builder that he'll just never finish. Keep going. Add a barn. Add a pavilion with outdoor kitchen. Add an above ground pool. Expand the tank. Funny guy, but I like the way he thinks.
  3. It's very modest, but the views are nice. It'll be a nice retirement spot for the folks, and a place to get away for me.
  4. Washer & dryer will go in the shop under the stairs along with a sink. The wall opposite the stairs in the shop will have pegboard from about the 4' to 8' level. From 4' down to the floor will be something else - maybe corrugated steel or more of that tan siding you see under the stairs.
  5. My parents are doing something similar. They're getting close to finished. Picking out flooring, lights, fans, etc right now. 1st floor living space is about 1200 sq ft (living room, kitchen, master bedroom, master bath, 1/2 bath. 2nd floor is another 600 sq ft (2nd bedroom and bathroom). Shop is 1200 sq ft and pretty tall. There's a 15' breezeway between the shop and living space. Each end will eventually have glass-panel garage doors. Above the breezeway is a 600 sq ft bonus room for storage and man cave. If you include the breezeway, porch and carport area in front of the shop, there's about 3000 sq ft of covered outdoor area. Lots of 42 will be played.
  6. This sounds like an Onion article. Recess in 7th grade? Virginia?
  7. Colorado Bend State Park A guest even caught a couple white bass in the Colorado at our airbnb cabin at the Lampasas/San Saba line.
  8. Westlake goes down with Baker sitting out. Steele beats them in OT. Bowie upsets LT with a dominant 2nd half. They outscored the Cavs 31-6 after trailing 23-15 at halftime. Coleton Benson went off for 20 in the 2nd half.
  9. Does @Horn21 live out in Midland as well?
  10. I know a woman in Eldorado, a couple guys in Canyon, a couple in Abilene, and a bunch in Clovis, NM. Haven't heard of any in Midland, but I can ask around. I bet you're not the only one out there. You could start a weekly 42 group easily, I'm sure.
  11. I finally won my first sanctioned tournament 2 weekends ago up in Irving. I actually won both the Friday and Saturday tournaments with different partners. Friday was a 6-game round robin. There were 20 teams. We were the only one to go 6-0. Saturday had 31 teams and a 10-game round robin. We were the only team to go 9-1 and took 1st.

  13. I hate posting on this site from a phone in a place with bad reception. Forget it doesn't mesh with imgur, then by the time I put the pics on tinypic, the post won't embed them because it's too old to edit. fml

  17. Had blood work done on Valentine's. Total cholesterol is still only 123. But my free testosterone is up to 773. Highest I've ever seen it. It's been as low as 170s. Fasting seems to have helped jack it up. HDL is really low at 24. Trigs are high at over 230, but that's to be expected if I'm fasting and burning body fat constantly. My weight has just been bouncing around the same 12 lbs because I haven't been strict when eating. I'll eat way too many bad carbs and pack on the water, then lose it.
