  1. I didn't fast last week and had some carbs a couple days, so I gained some weight back. I haven't eaten since Tuesday evening. Seeing if I can fast until I hit about a 15lb loss, then do subsequent fasts at 10lbs a pop. Not sure if I'll be able to do that. We'll see.
  2. Keto is the easiest diet. I don't think it's crazy at all.
  3. Kick back some salt and potassium. Keto Flu is bullshit. It's just low electrolytes resulting from your body releasing all that water with the glycogen.
  4. NBC News just had a short story bashing Keto with Jillian Michaels. Everything was the typical misinformation. "You need fiber!" Nope. That's a myth. "Without one of the food groups, you're starving your cells!" Nope. Our bodies make glycogen when it requires it. "High fiber/whole grain diets lower risk of diabetes and heart disease!" This claim has been addressed by many doctors and scientists that promote Keto.
  5. I lied. I did lose another pound today. 18 total. 26 hrs into my 3rd fast.
  6. I read that LAR is giving up 5.07 ypc to opposing backs this season. Zeke averages 5.07 ypc on 1st down alone. Grind it out. Play D.
  7. I lost another 4 pounds on Sunday. That's 17 in 2019. I broke my 2nd fast of the year at 60 hours and had 1 pound of fatty brisket, 1 sausage link, some cheddar, pickles, and slaw. This was at Terry Black's. I did cheat a tiny bit with some of the regular and spicy sauces. But I didn't use too much. I'll probably gain a bit on Monday's weigh-in. That meat was extra salty, and I ate a good bit. I'd be surprised if I lost any. I waited about 10 hours after eating to check my blood levels. Ketones at 0.8 and glucose back up to my typical range of 99.
  8. Anybody else get a bit more constipated/harder shits than before? Personally, hell no. Most Keto folks get the runs.
  9. Since we're talking about restaurant options, here are 3 I like: Mighty Fine "Beast" in a bowl 2 half pound patties, cheese, add bacon
  10. For the sake of dicussion, I looked up the nutrition for that CFA Spicy Southwest salad: Calories 450 Total Fat 19 g Saturated fat 4 g Trans fat 0 g Cholesterol 75 mg Sodium 1,070 mg Total Carbohydrate 37 g Dietary fiber 10 g Sugar 8 g Protein 34 g
  11. It could also be that being strict keto for ~10 months last year has me fat-adapted. My body produces enough ketones to run itself, and my body is good at using them. There aren't many superfluous ones floating around. Another factor could be testing only about an hour after waking up. Ketone levels are usually lower in the morning. Today I waited about 4 hours before testing and it was higher.
  12. A high body fat is the point. If I'm not eating, and my body has burned through glycogen stores, then my body must burn fat stores. The fat is converted to ketones in the liver. Thus, I'm in ketosis. High levels of dietary fat are not needed for someone with high body fat. I tested again today. Ketones 0.9 Glucose 79 (lowest I can ever remember) GKI is 4.8 which is moderate ketosis. I've lost 13 lbs since Jan 1.
  13. Tebow claims to have been keto for the last 7 years.
  14. While fasting, you are obviously eating no carbs and no fat. You have to survive, so you burn stored energy. Glycogen stores, then body fat. Ketones start to show. You're in ketosis. Eating high fat is not necessary unless you are already a lean person. Nobody on this thread is that lean. We're trying to lose weight. Just removing carbs will get your body to switch to ketosis. It has to in order to survive. I fasted 72 hrs, ate a very low carb/high fat meal, and have now fasted another 44 hrs. My blood ketones remain around 0.3.
  15. Another one my roommate and I both loved was a pork sausage, egg & cheese casserole. 24 oz pork sausage 4 cups sharp cheddar 12 lg eggs 1 cup heavy cream salt pepper paprika jalapenos Fry up pork with butter. Whisk eggs, cream, spices and cheese together. Add pork and japs to eggs. Bake 45-55 minutes @ 350*. I served it with sour cream and hot sauce.
  16. This came from a chicken cordon bleu casserole that I didn't really like too much. Swiss is just not sharp enough for my tastes. 1/4 cup mayo 1/4 cup heavy cream 8 oz cream cheese 1/4 cup parmesan cheese 1/2 tsp garlic powder Dash of black pepper 8 oz swiss cheese 16 oz ham 20 oz chicken 1/2 cup chicken bone broth 1/2 cup crushed pork rinds (this was the casserole topper)
  17. My go-to late last year were just quick casseroles I could throw together without measuring too much. I'd get the Tyson pulled chicken from the frozen section. It's about a 20oz bag. Mix up cream cheese (1 or 2 packages depending on dish size), a bunch of shredded sharp cheddar, mayo, salt, pepper, and sometimes garlic powder. Mix in the chicken (I usually defrosted it first). I would typically add a 2nd meat (ham, sliced smoked sausage, bacon, etc). Bake that sucker up. Serve with some hot sauce. Good protein. Lots of fat. Almost no carbs. Filling.
  18. I eat pork rinds with cheap ol' ranch dip you find back in the sour cream section of the grocery store.
  19. Ha. I probably just woke up neighbors with my yelling and playing Puck Off as loud as possible.
  20. I am much fatter than you. I could last weeks if I really had to.
  21. I broke my fast last night at 72 hours. I had a 16oz lean steak, some cheese, 3 eggs, some pork rinds and some ranch dip. And a bit of A1. Very keto. Pushing 2,000 calories. I ate it in about 35 minutes. Then immediately began my next fast. I'm going to try for a bunch of 72-hour fasts in a row. I'm 17 hours into my 2nd one right now. I've lost almost 12 lbs since I started.
  22. Almost 67 hours into 2019. Haven't eaten anything yet. I did have some chicken broth (5 calories) last night to get some sodium in. I've also taken a few swigs of Louisiana hot sauce for a 0 calorie flavor burst and some sodium. Down 7.x pounds. I'm dropping about a pound of mostly water weight every 10 hours so far.
  23. I had put out of my mind what visits to the toilet are like on a water fast. I was just reminded.
