  1. Also speaking of Regional Sports Networks or RSN's, I read the other day that Bally's was about to go bankrupt. Or at the very least couldn't make their interest payments on their debt. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/15/sports/diamond-sports-debt-interest.html
  2. The End of “Succession” Is Near The show’s creator, Jesse Armstrong, explains why he has chosen to conclude the drama of the Roy family in its fourth season.
  3. Thanks for this. By all accounts David Zaslav has absolutely been the man for this messy, difficult job as the link outlined. He's been killing it.
  4. Hence the rise of Shein and **checks notes for htis week** TEMU.
  5. @Captainant Justice Clarence Thomas defended recommendations as a vital part of the internet. “If you’re interested in cooking, you don’t want thumbnails on light jazz,” he said.
  6. Well put, I think it's a very difficult problem for all the reasons you suggest and am following to see what sort of consequences any ruling has.
  7. Brisket, we get it. Point made, and taken. Thanks.
  8. As a technologist, are you for or against 230?
  9. The case, Gonzalez v. Google, was brought by the family of an American college student, Nohemi Gonzalez, who was among more than 100 people killed during the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks. The plaintiffs allege that YouTube failed to take down some ISIS terrorist videos and even recommended them to users. They say that makes Google liable for damages under the Anti-Terrorism Act, although they haven’t presented evidence that the terrorists involved saw those videos.
  10. This is really old. Which reminds me, because I heard a "Worldstar" in the background. Whatever happened to that site? You don't hear people yelling that anymore or since Covid really. I guess shelter in place really ruined them.
  11. Is that printed on a tortilla like in the movie The Menu? Or is that a tattoo on gross flesh?
  12. One of the few that 85-90% of Americans can get behind for sure.
  13. I don’t understand; maybe if I knew better I could do better by your standards.
  14. Thanks for your last response. This answer gets to the heart of my question with a little fify: I think the confusion was that I don't care why we American's think it's cool and righteous and just, I already get that, I was trying to zoom out and that seems to be a struggle for folks. Fair enough. Thanks for the responses and I think we can tie it off now and I'll keep reading and lurking.
  15. Half of your post was interesting, before you decided to hand-wave. Switching gears, but I'm wondering to myself today: If China, in it's legal rights and power as you said, were to aid Russia, what do you think America does? What do you think the end game will be?
  16. The question I am asking is not for you or me or daysoffsadguy or any one on this website's personal opinion or moral/ethic reasoning. I'm not even asking what America thinks, because we are all American and I think we are all in agreement and get it. I'm asking from an international, geopolitical standpoint. How does a country like India, for example, who toes the line and does business with Russia, USA and a lesser extent China, see one country giving X, Y and Z in a war conflict and then say, "but you can't give X, Y, and Z to the other side!". I'm sorry this question hit a nerve, I just saw the headline and it got me wondering. I am pro-Ukraine and don't care about the money or aid we are sending.
  17. Exceptionalism aside (and I think you were kidding), but the main question was not meant to rile anyone up or get people like daysoff emotional, but it was to understand from people who study or are involved in geopolitics and diplomacy and such-- how is it that we can reasonably or justifiably do one thing (active support via money, armaments, munitions, etc.) and also condemn others for doing the same thing, but on the other side. Think of my question through the jus ad bellum and rules of warfare lens. And I don't mean justify from an emotional or values point of view, I think we ALL GET THAT-- Russia sucks and Putin sucks and we want them to lose and Ukraine is our friend. But can we be adults and have adult conversations about realities that exist in reality outside of our idealism and exceptionalism? That was the ask. I haven't followed this thread since nearly a year ago when some really informed and awesome posters were giving us these awesome updates and experiences, so if it's devolved into sad old union pilots getting bent out of shape for no reason, then I can see myself to the door, don't bother getting up.
  18. Someone smarter on the geopolitical and diplomatic front answer me this: Why is fair game when we provide arms/money/tanks to Ukraine, but then when China (a known enemy to US and friend to Russia) signals they will do something similiar, we take it personal? I feel like this is escalating into an Allies and Central Powers type escalation soon which would be very bad:
  19. User name checks out? Or doesn't? I don't know, haven't read Judges 16 in a while.
  20. Dove lease is in Rising Star, so this hits close to home.
  21. I thought I read last week that Russia had 96% of their army engaged. And this is the result. He's gotta be getting desperate.
  22. It did great at the box office, despite early bad reviews.
  23. There's a miracle in the works I can feel it There's revival in the church I believe it I believe it Reignite us, reawaken Breath of God, come breathe again Like the dry bones started shaking All that died will live again Oh, the miracle You're making The beginning not the end Eternity is waiting To see Your church alive again
