  1. In regards to those advocating sports being completely co-ed and solely based on performance. I'd think about the psychological damage that would do to girls starting about the age of 13 when they will inevitably in large numbers get demoted from the advanced teams. From my personal kids sports viewing I would think 100% performance based teams to be quite mixed gender until around that point.
  2. Can we get a running list of the people who have predicted 50 of the last 1 pandemics?
  3. certainly not. Just a bit of push back on the "last chance negotiation for labor" comments.
  4. Is there anything in that article that doesn't appear to be simply factual? or are you asserting the forfeits didn't actually happen?
  5. 1.) No way the Chinese port runs as smooth as presented in the above video. Every single warehouse/logistics automation project I have ever encountered is a clusterfuck of workarounds that include WAY more labor, often high paid to deal with software, than presented in the sales pitch. I would love to hear any Surly real world experience anecdotes counter to that. 2.) Even if PO's were cut today and earth was being moved its decades to automate all US ports to the level of that video.
  6. Uber has reported net profit each quarter for the last year. Lyft had its 1st profitable quarter in Q2 24.(most recent report) I believe Uber and Lyft have had some sort of vehicle subsidy at certain points in time(i'm basing that on chit chat with Uber drivers), not sure on the value of those programs. The value proposition for Uber drivers is drive as much as you want when you want. I would say in my interactions with Uber drivers about 50% are happy with the deal and 50% are bitter/hate it.
  7. Everything else aside it is kind of pleasant to listen to a debate in mostly complete cogent sentences.
  8. If the NBA played with scabs it might actually be a watchable product
  9. Per John's son, the Emmy-nominated actor died of natural causes in Los Angeles back on Aug. 21.
  10. who advocated for this? PLUS toilet paper doesn't come from overseas.
  11. They can enforce a 90 day "cooling off period" where work has to resume. Mr Goldchains has said if Taft Hartley is invoked they will return but instruct members to slow down work.
  12. from your link The company continued to monitor weather conditions. When water began to cover the parking lot and the adjacent service road, and the plant lost power, employees were dismissed by management to return to their homes in time for them to escape the industrial park. At no time were employees told that they would be fired if they left the facility. For employees who were non-English speaking, bilingual employees were among the group of managers who delivered the message. What exactly does a union get done differently in this case? A no-work when it rains clause in a contract?
  13. lol, man of the people right there.
  14. IMPO the media is overestimating the willingness/ability of businesses to stockpile inventory given the realities coming out of the pandemic. They are also underestimating the amount of time it will take this to show up significantly in the consumers purchasing reality.
