  1. They can enforce a 90 day "cooling off period" where work has to resume. Mr Goldchains has said if Taft Hartley is invoked they will return but instruct members to slow down work.
  2. from your link The company continued to monitor weather conditions. When water began to cover the parking lot and the adjacent service road, and the plant lost power, employees were dismissed by management to return to their homes in time for them to escape the industrial park. At no time were employees told that they would be fired if they left the facility. For employees who were non-English speaking, bilingual employees were among the group of managers who delivered the message. What exactly does a union get done differently in this case? A no-work when it rains clause in a contract?
  3. lol, man of the people right there.
  4. IMPO the media is overestimating the willingness/ability of businesses to stockpile inventory given the realities coming out of the pandemic. They are also underestimating the amount of time it will take this to show up significantly in the consumers purchasing reality.
  5. I certainly intended to type precedent . A completely unpresidented mistake on my part.
  6. Go read this thread. Fain played hardball and was belligerent in the press. BTW the UAW is currently voting to strike at Stellantis. Now, Mr. Goldchain has certainly taken it to 11 and 2/3rds of ports not operating is a bigger pain point than auto industry. There is also the rail strike as recent president for labor getting their way.
  7. Joe walked the picket line in Detroit and said yesterday he, "doesn't believe in Taft-Hartley". They are who they told you they are. https://www.c-span.org/video/?538805-1/president-biden-speaks-reporters-dover-air-force-base 1:34
  8. His rhetoric and tone are not all much different than Fain and UAW. They got their demands so why wouldn't he put his dick on the table?
  9. Not so bold prediction. The keyboard longshoreman/labor relations expertise hot takes based solely on watching The Wire S2 are going to become exponentially unbearable as this drags on.
  10. Chesney is way, way, way more currently mainstream than KR, so that makes perfect sense. I've heard KC on current country radio in recent times. I can't think of the last time I heard KR on anything other than a classic rock station, maybe clips of his politically leaning songs on AM talk radio?
  11. His current career is actually really interesting from a business perspective. As I understand it after "Picture" and his transition to more country from rap he took control of all the business end of his music and touring. He claims to make many times more money by cutting out all the middle men/handlers/hangers on. Frankly he is marginally famous at best much in the same way bands hand around for 50 years after their heyday and milk nostalgia. Some get a bit of a second act/revival after a few decades.
  12. You solved it....the case cracker!!!
  13. It's astounding how its stayed in the background nearly completely. Saw a few things pop up over the weekend, but I would bet a high majority of people(80 plus percent?) are completely unaware. The hurricane tragedy will probably give cover to anyone who wants to blame issues on something besides labor unrest.
