  1. If you're open to a bit more "life", you should check out the McMenamins hotels/pubs all throughout Oregon (but particularly Portland). Old buildings (libraries, old schools, banks, etc.) renovated into bars, restaurants, performance spaces, and hotels. The ones I've stayed at in Portland often have two or three live music venues. And McMenamins all have breweries with really good offerings. Some of the spaces on the coast or out beyond the city are more subdued- If I'm not getting a VRBO, we're staying in one of their properties.
  2. Sorry if I've mentioned this before- my FiL was working at ODOT when the whale got blowed up (his phrase), and has some amazing stories about the dude who was in charge of that decision (who only ended up in that role because everyone else in the department called in sick because they didn't want to deal with it.
  3. He brings one of those peppers back into the booth and gives it to Chris Spielman... who immediately pops it in his mouth to eat it and doesn't even blink or miss covering a play.
  4. Well, they also cut off access to the API for a ton of third party apps without warning over the weekend. So, they're intentionally pushing people away from their platform, which seems smart.

  21. Snowboarders are the worst... (but "blondesided" and username and so forth)
  22. On the topic of international strangers and weather related hospitality They Traveled From South Korea. They Got Stranded Near Buffalo. A South Korean tour group’s van became stuck in the snow outside a house in Williamsville, N.Y. They spent the weekend with the homeowners — who luckily had a well-stocked kitchen.
