  1. Biden is not a Christian. He serves at the Altar of the Great Whore of Babylon. Not sure about Irish-Americans, but until the last decade or so, Ireland had by percentage the most teetotallers in Europe, which is why Ireland tended to finish in the middle of the pack among drunkest nations in Europe. Only half of them were pulling their weight, so the result was still pretty impressive. Now that more of them are getting at it, they are fifth in the world, trailing only Eastern and Middle European countries. Basically the women started drinking as hard as the men in recent years.
  2. This level of outrage is bizarre to me. I mean dude attempted a pathetic hoax and everyone -- black and white -- is laughing at him now and his career is destroyed utterly. IDGAF if he does any time. He could be sentenced to a month and I wouldn't care. If he gets probation I don't care, either.
  3. I work in the profession and if I had power over a newsroom any reporter of mine who spouted off about a case like this on Twitter before the facts were in gets two weeks unpaid suspension. Second offense is the end of your employment in my fictional newsroom.
  4. The faeries lovest thou anyway, though they struggle with trilling r's
  5. From Vulcan's Shadow he came, the lost prince from das Neu Welt....born in the settlement of the beautiful view, graced by faeries and honed by fire.
  6. Re "culture," not all Yankees are created alike. There are numerous breeds of Yankees. Les Miles is a Pennsyltucky hilbilly type. That type is common from central PA west through Ohio, Indiana, Illinoiis and up into Michigan. Only their fucked-up vowels and shitty taste in food differentiates them from Southern rednecks. People think Saban is from Ohio, but he is from small-town West Virginia. He is also an "ethnic" -- Croatian. I've spent some time in his hometown and it is not Yankee by any means, though that part of West Virginia has lots of Italians, Poles and Slavs like Saban. If he were a Yankee he'd be in that Ditka / Namath group, but he's not. And he voids out an concept of culture fit through just being he who he is. Now Kelly is from a well-known archetype -- suburban Bahhston Shanty Irish. Famous for drunkenness and fighting and raging out. Also, many are teetotallers who also fight and rage out. They lack Southern-style social graces. I guess he is what people call a Masshole these days -- my definition of that term was that it was for the yacht club set up there and he is not that. I get the feeling LSU's bigwigs want a stern taskmaster to whip their athletes back into shape and get them back towing the line so they hired this drill sergeant. It is not going to work.
  7. To their credit, the very best LSU fans took very little pleasure from that 2007 NC. A buddy of mine is as Tigah as they get and he didn't even have a party for the game and shrugged off the win as something like an old-fashioned tie.
  8. JUst get up at a team meeting and say something like "Guys, you know, maybe God didn't really create the universe in seven days. I mean, he's God, right? So what is a day to God? It could be like, a billion years or something..." I heard that's what Cunningham did and then Easterby nailed him in the ribs with a tranquilizer dart from a blow gun. Cunningham was carted off and woke up in remedial Bible class. Pray for him, y'all.
  9. "Standoffish with the press" is putting it mildly with Allen. IDK how much of it was a hostile media or his own personality, but my understanding of the reasoning behind Allen's exclusion is that he was a clubhouse cancer on every team he played for. Bear in mind this was an era when Astros GM Spec Richardson pissed away Joe Morgan and the Astros shot at being the Big Orange Machine of the 1970s by pretty much claiming same, so I dunno.
  10. Cunningham must have been late to church -- again. We all need to pray for him but he just doesn't seem to fit on this team.
  11. Going way back to Akers days we had a freak named William Harris who was as talented as any TE we've ever had on campus...He flunked out, wound up at Bishop College, and still got drafted and spent a few years in the league, but I think he had some bad injuries too, and there are weird holes in his resume that suggest other problems. He reminded me of a slightly bigger Jermichael FInley.
  12. I swear that position is like Spinal Tap drummer or Grateful Dead keyboardist. If the guys we recruit stay healthy, that means they suck, but if they get injured, they were looking like good players. Who was that dude we had whose knee pretty much exploded against Rice? He was the last guy we had who looked like a player and I remember the knee injury was so bad there was no real talk of rehab. Just gratitude he would walk again.
  13. It wasn't easy, but I had to tell my butler I was selling of the yachts I provide for him.
  14. In a previous life I had to take a Bible class at Belmont, a Baptist college, and we spent most of the semester talking about what was Q and what was not. I have no doubt that at least some of these idiots believe there is a connection.
  15. I've often wondered about this -- is it just a coincidence or did the Watkinses choose it for its double meaning? Or is it because Q is really Jesus telling us to spruce the place up before gets down here and administes that long awaited beatdown on sinners everywhere? Big if true.
  16. Hugo's high rep total is simply a function of the fact he has posted 32,000 times. His rep average is a little over .5/post, which is nothing special. Yours is higher than that, Johnny -- if you only posted as much as he did, you would have him beat by 10000 points.
  17. Is it required by law that every mid-major to dynasty coaching vacancy be accompanied by message board chatter than Lane Kiffin is going there? I thought we all agreed that he and Ole Miss were a perfect match.
  18. I hereby cancel my prediction Napier will succeed at Fla.
  19. Yeah all this wailing and flailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of garments from some of our fanbase on how we and only we managed to miss out on a "sure thing" coach must be the same people who never listen to the disclaimer at the end of every ad touting an investment vehicle: past performance is no guarantee of future results.
  20. Nick is donwnlow cool in a way Kelly is not. https://youtu.be/L6v8dldaEA8
  21. For such a douche, he really really cares about rep. Not just his own, but yours, mine, everybody's. More than once he has called out the boards because he hates me, and yet my rep is higher than his, and he thinks y'all are idiots for not liking him more. And this goes back long before the Charlie Strong wars. He's just never liked me. We are kind of bizarro versions of one another. I am Houston and he is Dallas. I think our dads were in the same frat at the same time (Sig Ep, UT early and mid 60s) and my dad has always said "the Dallas bunch" took over and ruined Sig Ep, his dad presumably being one of them, so I guess this goes back a generation, with our dads also hating each other. And we were at UT and he was SAE and I was Kappa Sig and we, as frats, did not get along at the time even a little bit. But we both dip on airplanes and I agree with a lot of his football takes. I've probably pos-repped about 5 or 10 of them recently, but he never returns the favor, even if I know he agrees with what I am saying. It's sad, really. He only wants to be loved but he is incapable of not being a total prick to everyone.
  22. Y'all do know some of these "proven coaches" are going to fail at their new gigs, right? Not one of these moves is going to bring the assured success some of y'all think is in store. LSU ain't going 11-1 next year and anything less than eight wins will have Tigah growling and he seems unlikely to be as beloved by the base as Orgeron was however briefly...Riley has inherited a tirefire and nobody has a clue if he's capable of turning a program around....Jimbo has brought aggy to new heights not seen since, well, statistically, pretty much every season they've ever played...Mullen was regarded as a sure thing when he went to Florida and now he's unemployed. On the other hand, maybe Napier gets Florida back on track and DeBoer revives Washington into its traditional spot as a Pac 10 power.
