  19. Someone's gotta go yard today. My money is on a Semien leadoff smash. Or Seager. Or Wyatt, Garcia, Joc, Burger or Josh. Maybe Heim. All of which means Leody hits a grand slam.
  20. I read those books to my kids. If You Take a Mouse to School If You Give a Pig a Pancake If You Buy A Pig a First Class Seat to Cancun, etc. There's the moral to all this. Animals in unusual places in story books are cute and funny. In real life I lose out on enchiladas and queso. Life is rough.
  21. Who's attemping to get laid? The friend or the puppy? If the puppy that may violate some laws or policy. Unless it's a service puppy. This shit is getting convoluted.
  22. I'm fine with dogs. We're planning on getting one in the next few months after we finish some home remodeling. We won't be taking it with us to shops and restaurants and grocery stores, even "dog-friendly" ones. But you're saying the solution to dogs being allowed at places I enjoy, that not long ago didn't have dogs, is for me to stop going to these places? I hardly feel my preferences are being catered to in that situation. And yes, if it became a thing where we can't enjoy that environment because of unruly dogs, obviously we'd find another restraurant. A business can of course change their policies without consulting me, or anyone. If it works for them, and there are THAT many more happy customers to offset the loss of customers unhappy with the situation, then it's a smart business move. I doubt they've surveyed their customers on this or have arrived at a clear consensus. They probably just said "Eh, we don't want to confront this problem. Let them stay." But I admittedly -- in the tradition of surly -- have diverted this away some from the original issue. HEB isn't claiming to be a "dog friendly" place. HEB's own policy: "At H-E-B, we are committed to the health and safety of our customers," the grocer told the Chronicle. "While pets are not permitted, service animals are welcome in our stores." The dogs I see there are not service animals. HEB just needs to apply their own policy.
  23. I'm including all stores not just HEB. I also include coffee shops, patios and anywhere else where dogs, a few years ago, were never seen. I'm not a fan of them there either. We went to a busy TexMex patio last week. Two dogs at an adjacent table barking loudly at people walking by. Owners did nothing, just laughed. We moved inside, but only after I had my toddler go over and kick the people in their shins (I wish). Dogs used to just be at home in yards. Or were being walked. Or at a park, maybe. I don't even think dog parks were a thing until the 90s, or probably later. But still dogs were not taken everywhere back then. I don't travel much internationally, but I am curious if the dog culture here happens in Europe or elsewhere. Feels like a uniquely self-important American activity.
