  2. This is the best day of my life.
  3. I am sure these people are thrilled that Phil is dumping millions to high school kids through NIL. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2024/07/08/nike-layoffs-top-positions
  4. That is the absolute bullshit narrative being pushed by guys who like to feel important by flexing their internet nuts around here. If you believe what those people have to say about NIL, I can get you a sweetheart deal on the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge in Matagorda.
  5. Obviously, you are correct. What happened decades will factor into Oregon's potential for success this year exponentially more so than their current coaches or roster. If they beat Ohio State & Michigan and go undefeated into the B1G title game, they will do so knowing that the playoff committee likely won't let them into the playoffs because of what Oregon football did in the 50s & 60s.
  6. Oregon is a stepping stone job until it isn't. If you look at their scedule and their roster, they have a real shot of making the semifinals. They are a legit title contender. If Lanning wins it all there, everything changes.
  7. If they beat Ohio State at home & Michigan on the road, they are likely going undefeated into the playoffs. The truth. And that gets you negged around here.
  8. What % change takes an ask from reasonable to absolute insanity? Is there a conversion chart? If we lose this player, with this background in our state, at this talent level, at this position, with the QB room we have......something is officially wrong with the people in charge of our NIL apparatus. I know this is upsetting to you, but it is the truth. Fire off some ad hominem attacks. I know it will make you feel better. However, we aren't aggies. We can objectively analyze all aspect of our program.
  9. I wonder how many important guys we will lose to teams "paying above market" before we are at least open to the idea that we might be below market.
  10. Are we on a 30-year NIL plan? Just how long term is long term? With Arch-mania going into full effect next season, I wouldn't mind some reckless spending to gear up for the next couple of years. But that is just me.
  11. Saturday 9/7, Texas Tech plays Wazzu at 4am on FOX and will prove to all 13 people watching that they are the dominant college football program in Texas that is west of the Brazos Rover and east of the Rio Grande.
  12. Oregon won the bidding war. Either they are being reckless (which I doubt) or they found a way to manage things regarding existing players on their roster. Either every team who is recruiting future NFL starters at d-line is out of control and doesn't know what they are doing, or maybe, just maybe, we aren't properly accounting for the impact (or lack thereof) of our d-line coach hire. Time will tell. We are supposed to be the big swining dick when it comes to money. I would rather error on the side of overpaying for elite talent and saying adios (if necessary) to guys who have no interest in making weight.
  13. People need to stop posting ridiculous things like this. If Oregon can figure out how to deal with the blowback, then we can do the same.
  14. “The key to the game is capital reserves. If you don't have enough, you can't piss in the tall weeds with the big dogs.”
