  1. Keep that dog from slobbering on my seats. It’s a stolen car Maurice.
  2. When you put it in reverse, things come from behind you.
  3. Found a mic thru a Walmart.com seller. Imagine that.
  4. I went with this one LeadTry 4K UHD WiFi Car Dash Cam 2.4" LCD 6-Lane 170° Wide Angle Mini Dashboard Camera Recorder with WiFi, Night Vision, G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079M6YDD5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There was a vipon discount so I got it for $45 and another $20 for a microSD card. It showed up today and had it up an running in 10 minutes. It came with three adhesive patches and three attachment plates in case you mess the first install up. The instructions are broken english but easy to follow. I got the app downloaded and connected but it isn't 100% intuitive. I'll have to work with that some more tomorrow. The charger cable has a USB slot on the back of it so you don't lose the ability to charge other devices with this. The charger/cable is one piece so you can't separate them if you intend to plug it into something other than a cigarette lighter style power supply. The unit is a mini usb (not micro) powered. You can unplug the unit and remove it if you don't want to leave it in your car. You can also plug the unit directly into your computer via USB if you want but I haven't tried. The microSD card is easy to remove and will be the way I transfer videos. The quality is good. I ran it at 2k today and will run at 4k tomorrow and see if I notice a difference. I can make out plates at a stop light but not while driving. It does record sound. The video settings are customizable, You can change the duration of the video loops from 1 to 2 to 3 minutes. If you want to lock a file to prevent being overridden, you just have to hit one button. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to try and address them.
  5. Back to an earlier question you asked I skipped: no I have not run the room adjustment in this setup. I guess I'll order another mic. I think they are $25 on amazon. a drop in the bucket considering how much I might spend on speakers and I won't be replacing the receiver any time soon. The bookcases are there to stay unless I can be very convincing when we replace the rest of the seating in the room. In the short term I might be able to swap the bookcases and the towers moving them closer to the TV and the speakers on the outside edge. It's a Gehan home, but you get the problems. Windows on the left, no drapes. Half wall on the right. Tile. Slanted Ceiling. Not ideal. I tried wired and wireless (RF and bluetooth) headphones. I do use wired ones late at night when my wife is sleeping. I really don't like it. I went by A&B to listen to the different klipsch speakers they offer. I really like them, but their space is better, so a bit deceptive compared to what I would experience. I like the idea of their RP-250 center and a pair of RP-160 bookshelf speakers with and a 110SW sub they had hooked up as a minor upgrade. Again, the sub I am more flexible on but I might opt for a wireless setup depending on where it sounds best. The problem with the 160 bookshelf speakers is they won't fit in that bookshelf. The RP150 would. A side benefit of moving from towers to bookshelf speakers is I could get those wider than the towers in that current setup. thinking longer term, I expect to have a dedicated home theater space eventually and the bookshelf speakers would make good surrounds when I add proper towers. The setup that sounded awesome was a RP440c center, two RP250 floor standing speakers and a sub. Again, it could all be a waste in my current space. The quote they ran me for a center, two speakers and a sub was pretty good. If I hold off on the sub or look elsewhere, they were all within my budget. But first, get a mic....
  6. So, this is the opposite of an ideal room. It’s a passageway between the tv and the couch. A half wall on the right and a slanted ceiling that slants up from left to right. And I use the system for movies 99% of the time. I’m trying to improve the sound and quality of movies I watch. I feel like there are times when I’m either missing voices or just not getting the impact of the effects. In my last house I had a setup with the two towers, two rear and a sub around a projection screen. I liked that better. I didn’t have a center speaker because I didn’t have room for a console or stand below the screen. When we moved, I dropped the surround and the sub. I was also concerned that my 10 year old receiver didn’t have the latest HDMI tech and I don’t have a wired Ethernet connection so I didn’t have WiFi control options. My approach was to add the components that were missing (center, up to date receiver), and when the budget allowed, upgrade the existing stuff (towers). In learning more, I realized that approach is flawed.
  7. Have I ever listened to Klipsch speakers, yes. I have owned Klipsch computer speakers. They were awesome. And have been to a house that used Klipsch in their setup. Have I listened to these yet? No. But I will before I buy. But if I don't come up with a solid leading candidate that would suffice before I go, I'll end up leaving spending too much money without doing research and regret my purchase later. Along those lines, I like that the Klipsch I am interested in are available at stores near me (Frys, A&B TV, Best Buy...ok these aren't at BB) and online from multiple distributers. With those options, I can get a price way below MSRP. These are positives when buying especially if I ever to need to replace a unit or add to the set. I looked at the Ascend Acoustics website and they seem fine, but I'll admit the 1990 website is a bit of a turnoff. Also, I have never heard of them so I am a little trepidatious. I'm not ruling them out, but I'm not sold yet. SVS subs get a lot of love on avsforums. I do appreciate all the responses here, I've already saved hundreds by not buying things I initially planned on buying (receiver and wireless sub) and focusing on the right things (getting matching center and left/right speakers). I'll keep reading through avsforums. It's making more sense. Thanks for the strong advice.
  8. 2.5% decrease in derkaville
  9. This. This is good stuff.
  10. Yeah. Someone in a Klipsch Facebook group explained it a little more. Im now leaning toward selling the Polks and getting a center and a couple of bookshelf speakers, the smaller klipsch RP250 center speaker and a couple of RP150 bookshelf speakers and pick up a sub down the road.
  11. I lost the MCACC mic when I moved. Don’t want to replace unless I really need to. Sonically mismatched? I didn’t know that was a thing. I guess I get it but the Polk speakers seem pretty good. Would they be terribly mismatched from a Klipsch RP-450c center speaker? Yep. Been poking around a little. There is a lot going on there. I feel like I need an interpreter
  12. Buck Naked performance boxer briefs
  13. I haven't found the perfect pair yet. I started with Hanes/fruitoftheloom/dockers/gap cheapo boxer briefs. I thought I found an answer to the "best underwear ever" with ex-officio givengo but ended up with jock itch. Then I tried MeUndies. I have tried den of thieves, champion performance stretch, champion power cool, champion lightweight mesh. and hanes comfort cool breathable mesh. The two mesh styles seem to be the most comfortable and breathable. Den of thieves wasn't bad. A lot of the above had that nylon rubbing sound when I walk (around the house) in just my briefs. I have some duluth trading company boxer briefs on the way.
  14. I think I am going to start with the klipsch RP-440 center speaker. Then look at a sub, maybe the Dayton mentioned above. I'm still considering a wireless setup for the sub and placing the sub near the back wall as I don't have a lot of room near the TV/Receiver or along the sides. of our room. I'll watch for a steal in the Frys flyer on a receiver. Probably a Denon with the latest capability for future proofing. I'll keep running the Polk Monitor 70s until they can't keep up. Thanks SurlyMafia
  15. Ok, I was concerned going cheap would be regretted but it doesn't seem like anyone swears by an expensive option. I'll find one through vipon and try it out. I think I'm going to grab one of the flat ones so thanks for that.
  16. Anyone have one they like? Any to avoid? What features are important? I travel mopac or /ih35 daily and the quality of commuter recklessness is increasing.
  17. Yep. This was a thing when I was an undergrad. Loved it
  18. Do what she’ll do. Ask her three closest friends and her coworkers how much their husbands paid. Add 10%. The old old saying was two months salary. I’ve heard 6 months. That’s some reality tv bullshit or something.
  19. Thanks. I might do just that. Focus on a center and a sub. Upgrade the receiver later. I was thinking Klipsch since I’ve had good luck with their computer speakers in the past and they seem to have consistently good ratings. Any others I should look at?
  20. I was thinking ~$500 for receiver upgrade and another ~$500 or more for additional speakers.
  21. I’ve got a Sony 65” tv hooked up to a Pioneer VSX 1020 hooked up to a pair of Polk Monitor 70 (bi-amped). I use those with AT&T U-verse; AppleTV; PS4 and a rarely used Panasonic Blu-ray player. I do stream Vudu and Netflix through the TV. I haven’t run out of HDMI inputs. So that isn’t an issue. Is it worth upgrading the receiver? It isn’t WiFi enabled so I guess I’m missing on some functionality. I don't have a way to run cables to rear speakers and even if I had rear speakers I don’t have shelves to put them on and not interested in wall mounting or running cables through the walls. I am interested in adding a center speaker and maybe some small front speakers and maybe a wireless sub (I assume that exists). The living room is near the back porch so I would be interested in setting up a set of wireless outdoor speakers in a second zone suggestions for for a recover and speakers? Budget $1000.
