  1. I keep hearing this...what do you mean specifically with regard to football? We swung for Urban Meyer, he didn't buy. So we got Sark and MOST of what I've seen on this board and elsewhere has been optimistic on him up until this point. We spent zillions on upgrading facilities, new SEZ, locker rooms, workout rooms. We have one of the highest paid assistant coach pools in America if not the highest. We fire our coaches after 4 years even with all that support if they don't demonstrate meeting our standard. What more from the AD specifically are you looking for, and what is the AD not doing for football that they should be?
  2. I'm not ready to bail on Sark yet. Losing isn't a sin but looking flat bad while doing it is. I read his face last night as surprise and shock that Card wasn't performing up to his practice level. As we got further and further in the hole he looked dejected. Everyone expresses emotions outwardly differently but some fire is what the fans want to see and you wonder if the team could have used some of that as well. But scheme can only address so much. We are really BAD on the O-line. Lots of reasons in this thread: poor coaching/development, bad recruiting choices, laziness and lack of motivation on the players part once they get on campus. Maybe it's a combination. I'll throw out another: Texas HS football. The basketball on grass RPO game that's out there now doesn't develop linemen as road graters. Do the o-line players at Wisconsin, Bama, Georgia come from RPO HS programs? I'm actually curious. Also, Casey wasn't that much better than Card. He had the benefit of 1) Arky had backed way off into prevent D and were conceding everything to kill clock including allowing him to run, 2) some drive extending penalties, 3) zero pressure because we were going to lose anyway. Yes he was better but it was moving from a QB who is 40/100 on Madden to one who was 53/100. If we had started Casey we might be one touchdown closer in the final score but we still would have lost, badly.
  3. Worse than Rout 66? Worse than the string of 50-point shellackings that OU put on us? Worse than losing to Kansas? I can think of many, many worse losses than this.
  4. OU is going to run for 700 yards on us with some new midget
  5. Meh, it was fine. I'd rather have a backup that gets meaningful game reps and it's not like Sark put in Casey after Card went 3-and-out on the first drive. Card is the starter and that's obvious. I trust Sark to make the right call to have an effective QB position, and not just assume it's to "appease Thompson."
  6. Ah yes I wondered when the Tribune and NAACP were saving their hit piece for...makes sense it's right after our first game. Although they would have much preferred that it came after a loss than a win. This doesn't hit nearly as hard when the team stayed for and sang the Eyes after the game, sorry y'all.
  7. Huh...so why sell them at the game then lol
  8. Dumb question: we got a couple of those Texas Yeti tumblers @ the game yesterday. Are we able to bring those back in for future games (empty)?
  9. I wouldn't say terrible, but it could be better. They've dialed back the ads in the past few years...I refer you to the Taco Bell GONG and that stupid fucking weatherman.
  10. Is there any reason that my wife and I should have our tickets on each of our phones, or just put them both in mine?
  11. This is hilarious and should be posted everywhere.
  12. I'm also curious about how CLEAR works...I have CLEAR and use it at the airport but do you need to go to a certain gate to enter via CLEAR at DKR? Or is it at every gate?
  13. See: every Derka thread ever? 😂
  14. First, I'm not a far-right-winger. Not even close. IDK and don't care about Hunter Biden, I never watch Fox News (I read RCP, Politico, The Hill, WSJ, NYT, CNN, etc) Second, it's not about "mean words." It's about wasting time and energy attempting discussion and getting back low value. What's the point?
  15. Kinda illustrating my point. I did forget about the 3rd dismissal technique after 1) you're wrong/uniformed, and 2) you're stupid, we also have 3) you must be a simple troll. Are people actually trolling? Uhhh, it's a message board, so of course. But let's also not pretend that isn't a common dis-engagement and dismissal method for viewpoints that the group doesn't want to discuss or acknowledge.
  16. It's not the negs that make CR bad. It's not that fact that it's left-leaning. It's that if you deviate from the left groupthink, the pile on begins that not only are you just wrong but you are also stupid, or incapable of critical thought etc. There is no recognition that a different viewpoint could potentially have reasoned thought behind it, or genuinely held convictions. The only reason to think differently than the group must be that you are uninformed or dumb. There is no third option. Any suggestion of critical discussion about backing up the logic or reasoning behind a position is met with some variation of "why should I even attempt to justify my undeniably correct position to someone so stupid, lol." I ducked out of CR for this reason, what's the point in even trying to have a discussion? Sad.
  17. eh, Mack is that ex where you had some good times for sure, but what you really remember how she burned the house down on the way out. I'll give Mack some credit for 2005, mostly for recruiting (not just Vince but that whole team was fucking stacked). Game day coaching was never Mack's thing anyway so it's not like he was some X's and O's genius who out schemed USC. He also made demonstrably bad hires in his assistants, was waaaay too loyal to GDGD. "Getting out of Vince's way" is the bare-fucking-minimum for a generational talent like that. Sorry, you don't get extra credit for that. If Mack had left after the 2009 loss, he would have a completely different reputation in the Texas fanbase. He'd be venerated, people would have wished for him to stay, he might have that statue someday. Instead he's the guy who couldn't take the loss, then got lazy and complacent, cratered the program's recruiting and put us back into the wilderness that we're still trying to get out of. He didn't do it alone, Deloss and the BMDs helped but he did his part to fuck us hard. His shit talking us after the fact and on the way out hasn't helped either, he's acted petty and jilted. So fuck him.
  18. Should be the motto for whatever site is Surly for Ole Miss
  19. Let’s get the usual tropes out of the way: - Austin isn’t big enough - not enough corporate sponsors - Cowboys will block it - Longhorns will block it - city council will block it - no good Stadium location
  20. You will like the fit. I’m on my 4th pair now, the runners are a little chunky but really comfortable.
  21. Titty babies now whining that the TXOU move should bork the 12-team playoff: https://247sports.com/college/texas/Article/Anonymous-Power-Five-ADs-worried-SEC-dominance-College-Football-Playoff-Texas-Oklahoma-leave-Big-12-expansion-168464576/?fbclid=IwAR03kLx39qt3T1x9qZazeXBJ0qLYZ91yNewlfbGU9fctx4bCISIZhnk8QK8
  22. Email from UT President Jay Hartzell. Someone needs to educate him that there is no such thing as "Texas Aggies." Dear Longhorn Nation, I am sure many of you have been inundated with news and speculation about the future of UT athletics throughout this long week. While I wanted to address the stories sooner than now, I needed to wait for our Board of Regents to weigh in on any conference actions. Today, our Board of Regents met and gave unanimous approval for one of the most monumental moves in our storied history. I am thrilled. It’s official! The University of Texas at Austin will be joining the Southeastern Conference in 2025. Throughout the week, you have probably heard references to the “changing landscape of collegiate athletics.” Recognizing this reality, and with a commitment to position the university’s tradition of athletics excellence for generations to come, Board of Regents Chairman Kevin Eltife, Athletics Director Chris Del Conte and I made the decision to look beyond the expiration of our current media rights contract with the Big 12. We asked the SEC to consider allowing our historic programs to compete in their unmatched conference. We are honored and grateful that they welcomed us. During the past quarter of a century, we have enjoyed so many memorable moments in the Big 12. Our players, coaches, and alumni will be forever grateful for the fierce competition and glorious championship moments we experienced with our conference peers. Looking ahead, I know many will be most excited about the return of time-honored rivalries with the Texas Aggies and the Arkansas Razorbacks, historic series that have given us some of our most exhilarating athletics moments. We will also be able to continue our rivalry with the University of Oklahoma, another key benefit to this transition. As our Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte explained, “This will be the best move for our student athletes, as they will be competing on the finest stage in collegiate sports. It will allow them to play in the best time slots on the largest television networks, give them unmatched visibility and prepare them for a potential future in sports beyond UT.” For now, our programs will focus on competing and winning in the Big 12. When our current contract expires, we will make the transition to the SEC, and I am confident that the level of competition we face in every sport will further inspire all of our sports teams to perform and compete at the highest level. I extend a debt of gratitude to the SEC and to you, Longhorn Nation, as we celebrate some of the most exciting news ever announced from these Forty Acres. Our most exciting sports memories are ahead of us. Hook 'em, Jay Hartzell President
  23. TBH I understand the bitterness. I'd be that way too if I were an ISU booster. I feel the most sorry for ISU, TT, and actually KState...those are programs that were trying to get it done but their geography and circumstances of alumni base aren't big enough to support what their most ardent fans want. Texas is doing what's right for Texas, but that will screw some of these smaller programs that we have formed some fun series with. I don't blame them for feeling screwed, except for Baylor, fuck those guys.
