  1. Holeeeee shit...do you even KNOW what anti-racism means? Here's a hint, it's not what you think it means. Do you agree with Kendi's pro-discrimination approach? Do we need more discrimination? And the anti-racism solution, again per Kendi (NOT ME): Are you in favor of a constitutional amendment enshrining WrongThink?
  2. You're being either disingenuous or too literal. Of course no one is teaching the "5 tenants of CRT" to elementary school children. Just like you teach addition and subtraction to them before they get to physics, DEI is the vehicle operating under the framework of CRT. There are many examples posted upthread and elsewhere...
  3. CRT and DEI are definitely related. If you believe the problem as framed by CRT, then DEI is a tool to resolve the problem. I'm definitely against CRT and think it frames the problem far too simplistically. However I'm open to the idea that CRT has been driven far past its original intent by those who would push for DEI. In fact I think we need to break DEI apart, I believe if you were to survey Americans you'd find wide acceptance for Diversity and Inclusion. Equity however is a far different story. By simplifying differences between people to their race and racism alone, and creating a framework that Kendi proposed above to create equity is so far beyond most Americans' thinking. Most people will hear equity and think "equality" which is probably the intent. But it's subterfuge for a much different intent of amplifying the culture wars and drive redistribution and discrimination (again, not me saying it, it's Kendi). If we require redistribution to advance as a society, let's do it up front as reparations, not under the covers as "equity."
  4. I never said it was unbiased, of course it is; we all are. What do you disagree with now that you've pointed that out?
  5. Critical Race Theory may have started in academic circles but it has grown far beyond that, and is now being used (daresay stretched?) as justification for lots of policies, training, and jobs. CRT advocates might not like it to be pointed out but it is highly reductive (everything, ev-re-thing is about race & any differences in outcomes between races is a result of racism on behalf of whites). And yes, at its core it is about redistribution and power, just like <gasp> Marxism, but under a new name. The Courage of our Convictions from the Manhattan Institute Of course if every difference in outcome is the result of racism, then equality of opportunity is insufficient. We need equity, which sounds very similar but is very, very different. In other words, we need equity of outcomes. Because, if you're white, anything you have is the result of your racism, any hard work you've put in is a distant second to systemic racism. DEI is the response to the problem-framework CRT poses, and in practice looks like this: So CRTs lapdog of DEI are at their core reductively sorting based on race and not individual, and "anti-racism?" That means active discrimination, just toward whites. It's not me saying this, it's Ibram X. Kendi, CRT advocate, from his book How to Be an Anti-Racist: That's pretty informative to me. Equality of opportunity, bad. Equity of result, good. White mean oppressor and BIPOC means victim. CRT is the diagnosis and DEI the cure.
  6. Yeah but that’s 99% on kawhi and 1% on PATFO. That said PATFO has fucked up since then with a lack of clear direction and shooting for the 8 seed.
  7. Hard to believe a team that relies on long 2 point jump shots is struggling in the playoffs! Did not see that coming!
  8. We’re getting out hustled. Defense optional. And we are passing up wide open 3’s in favor of contested 2’s. So…same as all season long? I haven’t been able to watch because youtubetv doesn’t have Bally sports…
  9. I'm also LHAB so I got the email as well, he's got a good background. Assume he wouldn't be in that role now if he wasn't in alignment with administration on the EoT. One can hope...
  10. You can definitely hear Buffy's voice in True. Whedon has a knack for writing self-destructive, quick witted, me-against-the-world heroines. And for sexual harassment, apparently. Too bad, its entertaining but take out his writing and I think it gets pedestrian quick.
  11. It's a small electric pusher fan on the front of the radiator that's connected via relay to the a/c system...I'll see if I can grab some pics for you
  12. Ah I'd have to ask the shop on that, I know they pressurized it to spec but not sure about ongoing pressure measurements. The engine however was overheating even with the a/c off; the Mopar 383 just runs hot! Lower t-stat, better radiator, shroud, header wraps, tuned TBEFI made it better...just money...<cries>
  13. It actually cools off now when the A/C is on, because we have a supplemental electric fan that kicks on w/ the a/c system. Not sure what refrigerant is in the Classic Air systems, but they're modern so I'm sure it's up-to-date w/ current regulations and technology. Not sure on head pressures, the engine was just rebuilt by a reputable rebuilder and I have all those stats somewhere but there were all in spec. Putting the shroud on really helped a lot, as did wrapping the headers. It hovers around 190-200 in normal driving now, might go to 210-215 at a light but usually not beyond that.
  14. The B1G is strong right now but the PAC and the Rose Bowl have never been weaker. Now is the time to strike, with the PAC missing the playoffs for half a decade or whatever it's at now.
  15. I'm not, read my OP where I specifically said that it didn't need to be. I just think the right range is 12- or 16- not 8. But I'd take 8 over 4. And the shitty bowls can stick around too, even as they become less and less relevant with opt outs and whatnot.
  16. I'd still take a 16-team CFP with actual stakes vs. two 6-6 marginal shit teams in a meaningless bowl.
  17. Except when they're not...sure Bama and Clemson will curb stomp anyone. But someone like Fresno State has a history of upsets and OU has a history of choking, so...
  18. Maybe. We don't really know b/c it doesn't exist yet. Holding up #1 Alabama vs. #16 BYU or Cincinnati is probably a blowout but at least it's two ranked teams. A #7 Florida vs. #8 Oregon would be pretty good. Regardless at least both games have implications for the round of 8 vs. the bowls which have zero implications beyond a trophy no one cares about.
  19. The Cloud Key has a hard reset you can do to regain access to it... The CK is just a mini-computer for hosting the controller. It can provide logging of metrics like wifi data over a longer time and remote access. It's not mandatory, you can run a UniFi setup w/ the controller software on your laptop just fine, you just have to leave that software running to log stuff. If you're just setting configs every so often you might not need it. What kind of access controls do you want to put in place? You might want to look at something like a PiHole, it's pretty fine-grained control from a DNS level. It's not infallible, if your kids are tech enough to hard code their own external DNS server they could bypass it but you can use it for getting rid of ads or blacklisting certain types of sites.
  20. This doesn't need to be a bowls vs. expansion discussion. We can have both shitty bowls AND the expanded CFP. If you love the shitty bowls with 6-6 teams, if they can still survive with their shit teams, games, and business model, and you're willing to watch their shit product, go for it. The issue is that the bowls have been standing in the way of CFP expansion by throwing money and influence at teams and playing on nostalgia for the old days to keep their post-season shit on life support. The "moar football" crowd is the clear minority as the rating show, otherwise we'd be watching the XFL in the Spring, because moar football = moar better, right? Nope, people want quality games and compelling matchups. Not meaningless "reward" games that are little more than participation medals for 6-6 teams where any player of note has opted out.
  21. Fuck ND. This aint the '60's and '70's anymore. Nobody gives a shit about ND and the only thing that has kept them quasi relevant is having their own LHN on NBC. Their days of being the fly in the ointment of realignment and the playoffs are numbered. Join the ACC or GTFO
  22. No one - NO ONE cares about the bowls, aside from the dudes in sport coats with the bowl patches on them. You think a team gives a shit about the Gasperalla Weed Eater bowl? The only reason the bowls have lasted this long is their ability to get TV-contracts and money to throw at the schools. Guess what? That's done. Because the marquee players have figured out they don't need the bowls and are opting out. When you get Florida in a 2nd-tier bowl game without their big players, that bowl is even more meaningless and will affect ratings and money. Incorporate the bowls in the the expanded CFP where possible. We can have our Round of 16 game Sponsored by the Cotton Bowl/Outback Bowl, etc. Make the shit bowls and offer or tell them "good luck going alone" because they'll be selecting shitty bowl teams after the cutoff line of 12- or 16-teams for the CFP. The bowls are just such a shitty, good 'ole boy system that exposes the total hypocrisy of the University Presidents' and anyone who says the CFP will "devalue the regular season." Like, oh no we can't go to Mobile Alabama for the get-shit-on-your-face bowl, nooooo...blow it up.
  23. Did anyone do the sale at the team store today? I wanted to get down there but couldn’t.
