  1. Nope. Sitting out a drive is fine; and if they choose to stay in with a cramp and not tell anyone, their own coach will see them getting burned and sub them out. Does concussion protocol encourage players to play concussed?
  2. trump_wrong.gif It's maybe 10% bad_ceos. The other 90% is automation and globalization aka people in another country willing to do your $100k+ (when you include cadillac health insurance) union job for $0.10 on the dollar. Most CEOs who don't respond to that market pressure don't last long as CEOs. Also investors tend to like companies who stay in business and make profit for their investors so, fiduciary responsibility and all that. But you knew that already. Unless the goal is: "a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of Communism." per Oxford
  3. "Austin is typical big ciiiity with big ciiiiity problems! Nothing to see here!"
  4. I just binged it on a business trip this past week. Really, really well done. We've seen the "super hero grows old" troupe with Logan, but this is a new spin on it. The casting and editing is really good, the guy they got for Homelander plays his part well - every scene with him feels like it's on a knife's edge, like he could snap at any moment and kill everyone in the room. He plays the sociopath really well. Elizabeth Shue is hot. Starlight is hot. Maeve is old-hot. They changed some stuff from the comics but it's already been renewed for season 2 so we'll see where they go from here.
  5. AKA "Doing their job" Although I'm sure many would have preferred if Bernie had an uninterrupted 30 minutes to espouse on the utopia that America will be with open borders, free everything, and no tradeoffs!
  6. ^ this You are vastly over-estimating: The competence of the IT team at your old company The amount of time they have to waste on am employee who left months ago The idea that they even still monitor your email address instead of routing it straight to the trash like a normal company That even if they did monitor it, that they would do something with it That LinkedIn's security system wouldn't make them login again from a strange computer, like happens on Facebook, Google, office.com and most other enterprise-focused sites That even if they managed to login that they'd click through LinkedIn to your InMail That they would have the context to understand what someone wrote you in that InMail That they would forward it to their legal/HR team That their legal/HR team wouldn't immediately pitch a fit that someone violated your privacy That legal/HR would actually take action against you ...and the list goes on and on. Chill out, have a beer, get your new job, make money, ignore bitches. /applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  7. It's late but she'll be @ the Avery Ranch ampitheather at 6p tonight as part of her kick off roadshow if you're in the area and want to meet her.
  8. I went to Donna Imam's congressional run kick off this morning in Round Rock. She's running as a D for TX31, which covers Williamson and Bell counties, currently repped by John Carter (R). He won 50.6%/47.7% over MJ Hegar (D) in 2018. MJ is running for Senate this time around versus Cornyn, so it's an open field for the Democrats, and there are several already declared. I know Donna personally from working with her over the years and from a non-profit that I started which she served as President of after I stepped down. She and I aren't really aligned closely on policy, Donna is more left than I am, but as a person she is really impressive, smart, and a good leader, the kind of person who could make a positive difference. In other words, I have no idea why she wants the job If you're in the district, and into this kind of stuff, here is Donna's twitter and you can follow and meet her through there, she's approachable and practical, much recommend.
  9. Saw it today and really enjoyed it. Not a cookie cutter romcom, had some really interesting elements. Even Ed Sheeran was tolerable playing himself - not great but it worked. I like that the main guy actually felt some guilt and they played off that. One reviewer I read was speculating that this sets up the universe of "missing" stuff, so they can revisit it with other characters...which I'm sure they will ruin by playing the one-trick pony too much.
  10. From a politics/optics perspective, Beto could have easily destroyed Castro the other night if he had been quicker on his feet. After Julian started to hammer him, all Beto really needed to do was pivot to Spanish when replying to Castro, say something about immigration and then end with “Si, Julian?” ...then watch Castro blink and fumble. He didn’t use one of his biggest weapons.
  11. "I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit...It's the only way to be sure." "Seventeen *days*? Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen hours! "What are we talking about here...pussy, right? Let's face it Harry...the Vette...get's 'em wet!" "Rosebud"
  12. It's out of character because of what we as fans built up in our mind about his character, and what we wanted him to be based on Robinson and Duncan's personality. He was going to be the next torchbearer, the silent assassin like Tim, etc. Who knows what his real character is because he never showed us, he never talks. All we really know is that he is a gym rat and is insanely skilled and physically gifted. My guess is that he lacks confidence and because he lost his Dad early that had a big impact on him - so he leans really heavily on his uncle, and comes from a world that taught him not to trust anyone and that most people were not looking out for him or his interests. So he reaches for stuff he can control and ignores the rest. That comes off as aloof but its what he knows. He didn't know jack about San Antonio or have the benefit of our history as fans to know how well we treat our players - so when his uncle (who probably does have other motives) got into his ear about how "The Spurs are screwing you, they're out to destroy your body and rush you back, they don't give a fuck about you," he went with the voice he knew and trusted. I have nothing to back all that up, just gut, and Occam's razor. I flip back and forth on him. Respect his skills and thankful for his contribution here. Mostly disappointment for what could have been. And a healthy dose of "fuck you" for quitting on his team, abandoning his teammates when he could have supported them, and mostly for tanking his trade value and burning the place down on his way out. He was really steered wrong on that choice - but he's about to win it all, so maybe he was crazy like a fox. Still, fuck him.
  13. I buy mine from Electric California. I'm pretty sure they're not Luxottica and they have quality stuff.
  14. Just came to say fuck Kawhi, he's a quitter, fuck him. He didn't even bother to sit on the bench and support his teammates. Fuck him.
  15. The only poetic justice at this point would be if Kawhi breaks his ankle in the 3rd quarter up 20 and the Dubs come back to win the series
  16. I'm 9/10 with technology and 4/10 with a wrench. I can build a computer from scratch and configure a database, but while I understand most of the mechanical systems I just don't have a ton of hands on experience with them, so my confidence isn't as high, although I can follow instructions as good as anyone. Is there an old shop manual for these somewhere? Mostly I want an experienced wrench to give it a once over for stuff I won't know to look for. I think the fuel pump was swapped out for an electronic one during prior work. Going to have to look around and see...
  17. Unfortunately no fender tag, it was taken off in prior work. VIN is BP23G0Bxxxxxx
  18. So this beauty is making a new home in my garage starting today... It's a '70 Cuda, sort of. It's a BP not a BS, so technically it's a gran coupe (top trim line), but it started life with a 318, I think. Now it has the 383+727 transmission. Pistol grip console shifter, rallye gauges and that awesome plum crazy purple. Someone before me went a little wild w/ the decals, it has both the AAR and the hockey stick. Obviously not number's matching perfection, but I didn't really want that either, I wanted something I could drive and enjoy, not a museum piece you only admire in the garage. @Mother mopar do you have a good Mopar mechanic or shop in Austin I can take it to for a check up and tune? Fuel pump sounds a little wonky, and I'd like to change all the fluids, etc. Eventually it's going to have to get a Vintage Air a/c or something like it so I can take it out between 9a and 7p.
  19. Just checking in before game 1 to say “Fuck Kawhi” !!! Fuck him so hard. I hope the GSW win in 4 by 100 each game.
  20. I travel almost every week for work and have a regular driver that we use. They show up with their SUV or town car and take me and pick me up and bring me home. I've used them 100+ times and they've never missed and are good people as well. Send a PM if you want an intro...
