Burnt Ends

  1. For those that are plugged in, how does Texas approach this. Do we put an offer and let these guys leverage it from their next visit or do we tell them to visit, get the best offer and we’ll match/beat it?
  2. Up until this last year, we did not have to spend on OL bc we returned almost all starters 2 years in a row, almost all of whom were drafted and are in the nfl.
  3. yeah, he left us on a cliff hanger there…
  4. huh? Looks like they are planning on revamping the OL. They are saying that they are looking for a stud RT and will move Baker inside. That doesn’t sound like a coach that is doing jack shit on OL. Same coach that has had every tackle he has coached drafted and will have another top 15 draft pick on Goosby. This year sucked to start but it’s looking like they are going to load up on OL. Bobby keeps repeating himself that Texas is going to spend a lot of money and they are not being “penny wise”. I’ve never seen Bobby talk like this. He either knows which players are coming or has been told how much they are going to spend and is giddy about it.
  5. I’m not saying go get him at all costs. That’s the narrative from Bobby and the other media outlets and it makes sense. Why is the analysis a lot more nuanced? Looks like they have cut a lot of bad money off the roster, are graduating key pieces that tied up big dollars and probably will have large corporate NIL backing for next season. And I don’t have to pay for Coleman. Lucky for us we have the biggest college football brand and I’m sure there a few corporate companies that will shell out money for the #1 portal prospect to be in burnt orange. We may not get him, but it won’t be because he had to choose between him or another guy. From the sounds of it, Sark is about to spend some money. Enjoy it…
  6. From what Bobby is saying, I don’t think you should just pencil in Mosley at WR3. They are talking as if we are going for 2 WRs in the portal to start to pair with Wingo.
  7. Why are you assuming we can’t get a stud WR like Coleman and 3 great iOL? Interior guards are not going to cost you a mil. We already have premium positions like QB, LT (assuming Goosby is coming back), Edge locked up. Guys leaving like Hill, Baxter, Moore, Manny are going to free up a lot of capital. Bobby has repeatedly said that the staff is looking to win a championship next season and that if we land a guy like Coleman to not assume we won’t be looking to get other high caliber players. I don’t think they’ve invested this much in building the core pieces in Arch, Simmons, Goosby to now penny pinch. Sounds like we are going push all our chips in the pile for next year. If that means Sark and Cooper Manning need to make a few calls to stroke the egos of a few donors to get another few mil to get these guys to build around Arch and Simmons, then that is not an unrealistic reality. We are maybe the best situated between donors and corporate NIL to fundraise with a Manning at QB.
  8. There are 3 brothers. Neto, I don’t think had much of a choice. Zina and the walk-on bro are staying it looks like .
  9. Coleman is going to get drafted in the first round whether he stays at Auburn, goes to Texas, Bama, aggy. He would instantly be our best WR, even if he drops a few balls. I hope to hell we sign him. The handwringing about passing him and using the funds to get other WRs is a stupid fucking take. You don’t get a trophy for best value and best contracts. Ohio State didn’t bargain shop when they went to go get Caleb Downs and Judkins. Next year is championship or bust. We’re going to lose Arch, Simmons, Goosby, Wingo, McDonald, and a lot more talent next year. It will be rebuilding more for a year or two after. All or nothing. Go get Coleman, Brown, Baugh/Lacy, and anyone else that we can. Stack this roster bc we have a loaded schedule and will need the depth and NFL talent to make a serious run. 2026 is not the year to penny pinch considering what it took to get Arch, Simmons, etc.
  10. lol…. I am actually a bit hurt about jaggy entering the portal. Whatever… bye.
  11. We need two NFL caliber RBs and two NFL caliber WRs. Clark has had 1 good game against a Michigan team with no coach. I don’t care to put our eggs in his basket. If we are serious about making a run in Arch’s last year, we need to get 2 stud RBs. We’ve done it before with Bijan/Rojo, Brooks/Blue. We also need two stud WRs like we had in Worthy/Mitchell and Bond/Golden. If they roll into next year with just 1 RB and Wingo and company, you can pencil in 2-3 losses again.
  12. You can probably get some bad ass WRs in the 500k-1 mil range to pair with Wingo, Mosley, Livingstone, and the young guys. Use that extra money for other needs. But hell, if they have money to throw around for Coleman and he wants to come here, I'd be happy as hell.
  13. Fasusi is getting abused:
  14. It’s not that complicated. Muschamp is considered one of the best DCs, if not the best. He’s also an elite recruiter and player will run through a wall for him. While PK is good, Muschamp gives you a chance to be great. I think this year was a wake up call for Sark. Keeping PK would have been the easy move. This move to Muschamp tells me Sark wants to win a championship. Also, I consider PK to be one of the best DCs to come through Texas. With that said, his secondary was some of the worst in Texas history as well. You cannot just be a DC that calls run defense and not know how to tie on the back end or elect not to put any effort in recruiting. That’s not going to cut it when we are trying to pass UGA and Ohio State. I’m super thankful for PK but I’m also ecstatic we have Muschamp. Now if we could get rid of Orphey and Chris Jackson. Flood doesn’t deserve his job but I’m not banking on that one considering Sark has been tied to him since his days at Atlanta.
  15. So Bobby made a comment in today’s coffee and football that guys like Smith, Filsame, Phillips, Zina, Terry, maybe I missed another name or two are taking the next steps in practice. Then he said he would be shocked if 1-2 of those didn’t leak into the portal. Thought it was interesting.
  16. If Gerry and CJ are right in that Texas did not want to pay Lefau then they must have a replacement lined up in the portal. If not then, seems a bit wreckless to part ways with a 2 year starter that has played well in big games.
  17. He has played very well at times and also some had some bad moments. I remember more good plays than bad personally. he was by no means was he a weakness during his time here. None of the guys behind him could beat him out so I'm not going to pretend like Barnes is going to get reps and be better right off the bat. I could also see a situation where Atkinson is more or less penciled in as a starter and perhaps the staff prefers Smith at the same position. LB was a big strength this year with Hill, Lefau, Smith, Moore, Spence. Now we're left with Smith and Spence and neither were full time starters to go with some talented young guys. The position is definitely a question mark going into next year.
  18. lol… Searles has been good everywhere he has been and has been dominant on the lines at UGA. Why would he come back here? Most of the board complained about him while he was here and left after 1 or 2 years? Most people don’t go back to an employer they failed at when they are at the top of their career. I’m very disappointed in the O-line but Flood has earned some leeway considering what he started with. With that said, if Sam Pittman would join, I tell Flood see ya later.
  19. Okay lets compare for fun. Worthy: Freshman- 62 rec, 981 yards, 12 TDs Sophomore (broken hand)- 60 rec, 760 yards, 9 TDs, 1 passing TD Junior- 75 rec, 1014 yards, 5 TDs, 1 punt ret TD Wingo: Freshman- 25 rec, 472, 2 TDs Sophomore- 50 rec, 770 yards, 7 TDs Draw your own conclusions.
  20. My mistake, I didn't consider Vandy a big game. I'd like to see that type of play against tOSU, UGA, ou's DBs. While great on offense, their defense isn't their strength. Luckily he was able to high point a pass from Arch with no one within 20 yards of him against aggy. When I see him mossing UGA's DBs like Golden, I'll consider him a WR1. Those are the types of WRs we need for next year.
  21. Yes, I remember Worthy having drops, he also played with a broken hand. Even then, he did not have anywhere near the drops Wingo had. Comparing them is dumb. Worthy hit damn near 1000 yards with freshman year, 800 his soph year, and had a solid Jr year with all the talent on that team (AD, and JWhit). He made big plays in big games against Bama, ou, etc. He's also been a starter on a playoff team his 1st and 2nd year in the NFL. Wingo is not that. The aggy game is the 1st time I remember Wingo making a big time play against a top 10 opponent? I'd prefer not to put all our eggs in his basket and get a proven WR in the portal. I also want to clarify, I want Wingo on the team, but not as WR 1. DM Jr can get fucked in the portal. Dude had 1 Td until the Arkansas game.
  22. I'm pissed but I feel for Miami fans. Given the head to head with Notre Dame and being left out with the same record is beyond stupid. What is the fucking point of even playing the games if you won't account head to head. Same reason I think it's laughable that we are behind ou, aggy and Vandy in some polls. All 3 of those teams likely have 4 losses if they played our schedule. We were in control of all 3 games yet we are ranked behind for losing to the #1 and #3 team in the country. If teams were to play on a neutral site amongst the top 12, Texas would be favored in against all the teams outside of 4-5 teams. Miami should 100% be in front of Notre Dame. At the end of the day, they beat them and that supersedes any other stupid metric or eye test when records are equal.
  23. Let's not compare Wingo and Worthy. No one wanted Worthy gone bc of his play. It was his social media BS and constant threat of transferring that had fans sour on him. Wingo is all potential and extremely inconsistent. He has dropped too many passes in crucial games in crucial moments. He is soft fighting DBs and rarely fights for the ball making contested catches. His route running is poor. He is fast, that is is elite trait. I'm not saying I want Wingo gone but I would not be happy if he's our WR1 going into next year. We need consistency and a guy that we can turn to when the game is on the line. AD Mitchell made game winning plays. Golden made game winning plays. If it's 4th and 15, how confident are you that Wingo makes the play? Given that next year is the year before we rebuild again in 2027 on the O-line, QB, and defense, we need guys at WR, RB, and TE that can help us win a title.
  24. WR and probably a contributor day 1 in some form. He is elite!
