Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars

If we somehow we get Anthony Hill, Baxter, Cook to commit in the next month, people are going to want to jump on board. -
Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars

So our potential class on offense is looking like: QB: Arch RB: Baxter, Wisner WR: Cook, Niblett, MHP. I would hold off on taking any more commitments here. Get Peyton/Eli make a few phone calls with Arch to some 5 star national recruits and you’re going to get everyone’s attention. This class can be sick at WR. Keep recruiting Hale and Pettaway though the end and see who else calls OL: Stroh, Chatman, Cojoe. I would keep going after Heard and look nationally. TE: Randle, Shannon, and put the hard sell on Duce Robinson. Who knows, maybe he wants to catch passes from a Manning. Regardless of who ends up in this class, the offense is going to have some big time players. -
Solid addition to Burrell. I think if we can lock down the edge guys and close out with Anthony Hill… this will be a a hell of a class on defenses.

Buying a New Vehicle in this environment
victory88 replied to Royalfan5's topic in Business and Markets
It's a black 2015 Mercedes CLA 250. Has a little under 80k miles on it. Interior is spotless. Back bumper has a little scrape that really isn't noticeable. We didn't care to fix it since it's not all that noticeable but easily can be touched up. Was going to tell the buyer we'll knock off a bit off the price incase they wanted to fix it themselves. Kelly Blue Book said 18k. Dealership is offering us 12. Carmax 15. Haven't tried Carvana yet. My friend said they got the best offer from Carvana. Might try that next just to get it off my hands. -

I got a 18-19k Kelly blue book value and comparable vehicles with model and mileage are selling for 23-24k. The dealership offered us 12 lol. I’ve never sold a car so just hoping I don’t get scammed somehow. -

Ordered a car in April looks like it will be delivered 1st week of July. Now if I would stop getting lowballed for the trade in of the current vehicle. -
Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars

Believe it or not, but that’s the perception among almost all the recruits right now. Based on nothing but their 8-4 season, same team that almost lost to Colorado last year. With that said, don’t fool your self. They are recruiting at a level higher than any program right now. Blame this program, the players, the coaches, etc for letting it get to this point. Hopefully we can have a good season, enter the SEC next year, and beat them on the field to change the narrative. The players we brought in offensively this off season is a step in the right direction. I have no doubt we will recruit at an elite level on that side of the field. I have serious doubts about our defense and our ability to get impact players there. Let’s see… -
2022 Summer Season: Flavor-Aid (Strength: Prison Wine)
victory88 replied to BurntOrange&White's topic in Football
I love it. I’m hoping he has a killer year and heads to the league. If he wasn’t made out of glass, I would use him like Alvin Kamara. He was the best RB on the roster his freshman year and looked better than Ingram as a true freshman in practice. With his running ability and ability to catch, he would be so dangerous in the backfield. I still think Hall, if he can live up to his potential, would be a much better fit and deep threat in the slot. He’s got NFL size right now. With that said, I’m loving where this WR roster is. We went from a bunch of spares to a group with elite physical ability. -

So I'm very curious to see how Ajiye Hall does this summer and fall. I know some posters here basically implied not to expect him to contribute or even be on the roster long term but this is a guy Sark needs to get in the starting line up asap. I'm a huge JWhit fan but I think you're really going to stress defenses if you have Worthy and Neyor on the outside with Hall in the slot. Those 3 guys are 4.4 or faster. Neyor and Hall have size to go along with speed that make them huge mismatches. Hall was a guy beating 1 on 1 matchups against the Bama DBs during their spring and he was wide open on a lot routes against UGA in the championship game.... as a freshman... -

Yup, not sure if he was the guy but I assumed it was Kerstetter as well. Basically implied that the veteran OL was complaining about the workouts. -

Yup, they will obviously scheme help on his side. The question, can the other OL hold up with their matchups… -
No, I’m simply thinking of how we can create our best defense based on our 11 best personnel. I’d go with 4-2-5 nickel or 4-1-6 dime look and try to keep those DL and DBs on the field. I’d keep our edge guys and LBs off the field. If we’re going to be facing air raid teams, I’d prefer Heacock’s or Orlando’s dime look instead of a 3-3-5.
-
Honestly, we just need to get the best 11 on the field. 3-3-5 is going to be a stupid fucking scheme once again when we have no LBs. I remember Elko basically running 4 DTs on their line a few years ago and we laughed but they were stout against the run. Seems like we don’t have a single pass rusher. This is what I would do. DE- Collins DT- Murphy DT- Sweat/Coburn DE- Ojomo/Ovie LB - Ford LB- DMO Nickel- Barron CB - Watts CB- Jameson S- Cook S- Crawford Those are probably the best players on this team. Just get them on the field. We absolutely should not be seeing any edge or additional LBs on the field until they can prove they can actually make an impact and not be a complete liability. Collins, Murphy, Sweat are probably our best pass rushers despite being interior DL. Just get them on the field. That would be a big ass DL and most offenses would struggle to run against them. On passing downs, pray you can cover long enough on the back end for those guys to get to the QB.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2023: Strippers, Monkeys, and 5-Stars

Right after Owens committed to Texas, his dad did an interview and flat out said that it's early and that Reuben would be taking his officials and his recruitment is not over. This would be his potential 2nd commitments before his senior year. It's pretty obvious what will be the deciding factor in this recruitment. With Bijan poised to have a monster year, it really should be quite easy to sell a 17 year old to come in. I'm not worried at all and honestly, they should be going all in on Baxter. The sell should be... get a bunch of usage, get prepped for the NFL, and oh yeah... drive a lambo while you're here. Oh yeah, you may also be hanging out with the Manning family while you're here. -
Looks like some people are so used to the 260 lb OL Herman liked to recruit that we’ve forgotten that football is a game of moving people. Give me the 350lb behemoth. We’ve already seen what our current small OL looked like again Arkansas. Flood likes bigger guys for a reason. I think it’s probably easier to get a guy like Cam Williams to lose weight than get a guy like Karic or Majors to put on weight.

Texas v. Alabama (Sept. 10) on Fox. Probably at 11 am
victory88 replied to Jive Turkey's topic in Football
This team needs to show up prepared this summer if they want any chance to win this game. Bijan and Rojo need to hold every player accountable and set the standard of what’s expected this summer and fall. Fuck Bama, I’m still pissed about 09. That putrid aggy team beat them last year. We have enough talent to score on them and we still have some damn good athletes on defense in Collins, Sweat, Overshown, Murphy, Watts. Crowd needs to show up and this team and these coaches need to prove they can take the next step. Hopefully these guys put in the work this summer. -

Fuck, more depressing than the 11 am kick off is seeing the 1st and 3rd game are on the LHN. -
Same bro, my stonk portofolio is down about 70%. Granted they were all aggressive plays. My hope was one would hit and I would potentially have big gains. So far, just keeps nose diving, I went into with the mindset to at I’m gambling with the money but looking back, I should have just taken a nice ass vacation instead haha

He was returning kicks the year Bama won the title. He's clearly an athletic freak.

I honestly have no confidence in PK. That Arkansas game basically showed me that this guy is in way over his head. He has no idea how to defend big 12 teams. I don't think he even knows the strengths of his own team. He seems to have one scheme and if we don't have the players for it, he seems content on trying the same shit again. He let Kansas score 50+ on us at home. We did absolutely nothing to improve our pass rush. Literally the exact same players. We did nothing to improve our LB corps. Our safeties this year are guys that couldn't beat out BJ Foster and a converted WR. Any DC will probably tell you the easiest way to defend an offense is to have a big lead and you can make them 1 dimensional. We had multiple big leads last year and PK blew every single one of them. I've seen a lot of bad defenses in the last 10 years at Texas and he was by far the worst. Worse than Manny Diaz, worse than Todd Orlando, worse than Vance Bedford. I fully expect him to be fired midway through the year and Patterson to take over. I really hope I'm wrong...
-
Dude, that WR room honestly was worse than our OL. Outside of those 2 names, one whom can never stay healthy, we had a group of guys that can barely find power 5 landing spots. The only one was Marcus Washington who joined a 3-9 team. That entire room was full of barely division 1 talent. I cannot believe how bad the last staff were at both evaluation and developing. That’s what you get for bringing group of coaches that had 1 year of success at UH, most of whom had never even coached at a power 5 level. Rant over. I love this pickup. If he stays healthy, he can make plays. Great way to add depth with guys that aren’t going to completely bog down your offense if you need snaps from them
-
For those that are worried about the OL. Banks and Campbell are the type of recruits that Bama, UGA, LSU fight over. Thank goodness for horns with hearts, having Flood, and great timing with Cristoball leaving Oregon bc those 2 are going to be starting by mid season.
-
Really hoping JWhitt can stay healthy because he’s pretty damn good when he plays. Will never forget his brother calling out aggy for trying to buy him during his recruitment. Dude switched to RB when the coaches asked him to. He always reps the longhorns well. Would really like to see him have a great year and go to the NFL.
-
Coleman was an absolute terrible recruiter and a bad coach as well. He developed 1 player at KSU a long time ago and somehow managed to get promoted from analyst to our WR coach. Herman is a damn moron for promoting him and I still question how Sark thought it would be good to retain him but let go someone like Hutzler.

Ooof. That is tough man. To lose your front teeth, especially at that age can be traumatizing for a girl. Not to mention the bullying as well. Right now options are going to limited due to her growing and changes in bone and teeth over the next few years. Short term, tell them to create something temporary for her like a clear retainer (similar to the invisalign trays) but with resin teeth in there. The other option is like a partial denture to wear but those tend to be more noticeable and she will probably hate it. We have to basically wait till she's 16-18 years old before the final treatment. Right now, I would see a GOOD periodontist to consult to see what they can do to preserve, graft her bone so she hopefully has enough bone to place implants when she's 16-18 years old. Not sure a periodontist what they will say as 12 years old is pretty young for grafting procedures but I would at least have that conversation. Long term, the best option is to place 3 implants and 3 crowns and shape the tissue around them if possible. That will yield the best results and best long term option. That in itself will be 12-15k for 3 teeth. If implants are not an option, they will need to place a ceramic bridge. For a bridge, you need to cut away adjacent teeth to connect the bridge. It's also a good option but the downsides are you will be cutting away potentially unnecessary tooth structure on the neighboring teeth and the bridge long term will probably need to be replaced every 10-15 years. This option will probably range 5-8k. All of this really depends on the condition of her remaining teeth and bone. Sometimes orthodontists can place an appliance with teeth temporarily while we wait till she's older. This is a tough situation man. Me and a group of doctors here in DFW did a pro bono case for a 16 year old boy that had his front teeth knocked out at age 9 from his abusive dad. It totally ruined his confidence. He started getting in trouble and went to juve for some pretty serious crimes. Anyways, we restored his mouth when he was 16 and you saw an immediate change in his perspective a demeanor . Kids get bullied a lot with this stuff. With everything said, I would see a dentist that has experience with restoring implants in aesthetic areas like the front. They should have working relationships with good specialists that can tag team the case. You should see a periodontist for her implants/grafting rather than an oral surgeon as they tend to be with manipulating soft tissue in aesthetic areas where as oral surgeons generally will just hack everything with little regard to what it will look like when it's healed.
