Nice day so far for NK
-
Unfortunately, I’m middle aged so I know about the stupid opinions of young people. I think you should step outside of the UT bubble and realize many people will say the song is racist regardless of age that are not tied to Texas. I love how passionate our fan base is and this university really prides traditions which I love, like keeping our uniforms the same for the most part. But I simply don’t see us on the winning end of this. Sam was born with burnt orange and stood by the song. What happens if our team leaders Bijan or in the future Malik Murphy sit out games in the future and this thing snow balls? Hartzell is already putting out comments about our fan base not being racist because those emails only make us look bad. This is from a small news paper and OTL show that few people watch. When this hits bigger news networks or game day features it, just get ready for more embarrassment. It’s going to get changed whether we like it or not. And as racist as Alabama is, they aren’t in the news... we are. It’s already being used in recruiting against us from these schools.
-
Just based on my views from speaking to my younger siblings currently enrolled and my younger cousins currently enrolled. Lastly, I want to be clear. I don’t think the song is racist in the present or that anyone that chooses to sings it is racist. BUT... it is absolutely not a good look for this university because there are elements to the song or where it was first performed or where the lyrics stemmed from that can be tied to racism. It makes us look really bad regardless. Let’s just hope CNN or anyone else doesn’t show our black face minstrel shows and talk about how the song had ties to it and that our alumni are forcing our black students to sing it. It’s heading in that direction and the ESPN segment did not paint us alumni very well... I sang the song at every game. I never missed a football game and attended almost every basketball game. I don’t really care about it but I know it may mean more to others. This is going to get messy and I just don’t see how it’s not going to get changed or removed.
-
Just saw this on ESPN. I said this when this whole ordeal first started. It is only a matter of time before this song is replaced. People outside of the UT alumni bubble view the song as racist. The majority of current students view the song as racist. It doesn’t help when they show emails of our old white alumni basically threatening to pull donations and to tell the “blacks” to go elsewhere. This whole thing is a giant shit stain on the face of the university. I personally never thought the song was racist. I educated myself about it. I’m not black, so I’m not going to tell a young black student or athlete how to feel about being forced to sing it or being forced to stand and have old white people sing it to you. Just replace the damn song before this thing keeps snowballing and a national news outlet features it. It’s a damn song... who cares. It’s also being used by every school to negative recruit athletes about coming here. It may not matter to us alumni, but it could matter to a 17 year old kid.

All Encompassing Mortgage and Real Estate Thread

So I'm looking for ways to passively invest some of the money I've saved over the last few years. My brother in law to be has been making a killing off of buying and selling apartment complexes. I know nothing about this space. He's fuck you rich. I have a bit of money saved for my age but no where near what he's worth. I would like to become fuck you rich but that won't happen doing what I'm doing currently. I had mentioned to him that I was looking to invest a little bit of money in real estate so he gave me an opportunity to get a tiny tiny tiny bite from his next project. It's a 175+ unit mid rise apartment complex in affluent neighborhood in Houston. It's 93% occupied and rent is $150-200 below market value. It's a nice property. They're expecting to make little touch ups, raise rent, and sell in in 7-10 years hopefully. He's saying to expect 3-4 x ROI. Has anyone invested in real estate acquisitions/deals like this? I was hoping to invest part of my savings that I have sitting in a savings account, maybe 100-150k worth, into this but I have no knowledge of this space and I have no idea if this is going to get flushed down the toilet or not. If he loses a 10 million+, it a dime in a bucket for him. If I lose 150k, my wife is going to kill me. He has a team that basically does everything for him and he just sponsors these deals. For you guys in this space, please educate me about this, if it's worth investing if the funds are there, or should I run and put it into another investment vehicle. Thanks in advance, I just would like to educate myself more. -
I listened to Darius Terrell on one of the podcasts and he implied that this recruitment isn’t over. He spoke to Rueben’s dad who said they will still be taking all of their official visits and that it’s early. I’m not sure if it was CTJ or someone else that said Rueben’s dad was running his recruitment that Rueben was getting sick of it and shut it down. Looks like dad doesn’t want it to be over just yet and is leaving to door pretty open to other school. Just my interpretation after listening to his podcast. As long as we win, he’ll stick it seems... if we don’t win, it’s going to be hard to hold on to him.

I figure raw is used to describe someone like Jaqindon Jackson who has talent but has never been coached up to play the QB position and needs to be molded basically to play the position. Murphy is inexperienced in varsity football. He’s played and been coached QB his whole basically. Not that I think Mike Roach can evaluate but he said he was quite advanced with his mechanics and throws when he went to see him out in 7 on 7. Dude was consistently making NFL throws and putting the ball on the dot. It’s why all of the evaluators have him in 5 star territory without much game film. I thought I read here that Sarks system is very QB friendly in the sense that the QBs don’t have to think too much when making their progressions. I trust Sark to coach this kid up. Just need to get our O-line to be able to protect because Murphy’s feet look slow.
-
Yeah, I wouldn’t consider Maalik a project exactly or raw. He’s been coached by some of the best QB coaches/trainers since he was in middle school. He’s got a cannon of a an arm and accuracy is one of his strengths. He won the most accurate QB award at one of the camps on the west coast. He simply needs more game reps. If he plays well in his limited season this spring, he’ll be a 5 star QB. Outside of Ewers, most QBs don’t have an arm like he does.
-
The problem isn’t that he decommitted. No one will blame him for that. He immediately flipped to tOSU. That’s fine as well. Here’s where the issue lies. From my understanding from what was posted on various boards was that Sark had given him multiples chances to flip and was basically told he’s sticking with tOSU. Since then, we seem to be picking up the best skill players and got ourselves a 5 star QB that is very well liked by his peers. Sark has had a relationship with Murphy’s family for a while. I think taking Ewers commitment will probably make Sark look very bad in the eyes of a lot of west coast recruits, trainers, and coaches. If Ewers is indeed getting cold feet (who knows how true this is), our coaches will need to weigh if it’s worth the negative effects of it at this point. Another consideration would be if we have an average season due to injuries or a coaching transition, Ewers has already shown he will bail immediately. I’m interested to see how this plays out but either way, we’re going to be on the winning end with whomever we take at QB.

It’s an interesting cycle for Texas DL. You have a stud in Bear that straight up got bought by UGA. Too bad Sark and company didn't have time to get into that recruitment. You then have the elite DL that has sooner parents and that will be hard to win. Then we have the kid whose smart and wants to play at Stanford. Outside of tbat, you have Ross from Northshore and that should be a recruitment we win but with the limited options, he’s probably going to get a lot of attention from all of the regional schools. I think the talent is great at the top but it’s not a deep year in my opinion.
-
Lol, Ewers probably got a taste of the cold weather he’s going to play in for 3 years. Plus, Sark is putting together a group of WRs and RBs in the 2022 and 2023 class that’s going to be best in the country. Too bad he’s going to have to watch Maalik throw TDs to all of these skill players while getting crazy pussy in ATX, living in a badass city, with badass weather while also having the advantages with NIL that Texas is about to lead the country with. Enjoy burning couches...
-
Okie lite or Ohio state? If it’s osu and Ewers is showing interest in us, I’m conflicted. I’m sure it’s eating Ewers up seeing Sark clean up the best skill players in the state and our recruiting in general. I’m sure this is probably what he had envisioned when he first committed here. If he wants back in, what do you do here? I’m pretty damn high on Maalik and recruits seem to naturally gravitate towards him. He also has an elite arm but is inexperienced. In addition, Ewers has proven to bail if things aren’t going completely well. He’d be a guy to bail and flip elsewhere if we didn’t win big.
-
If Harold Perkins some how commits here, it will answer the question if Texas is playing the game. I hope we are and I hope we do it dirtier than every school out there. Fuck these other schools.
-
Between Bijan, Blue, and now Owens. I’m not sure if Texas has recruited the position any better in a 4 year span since I started following recruiting.

I bought this tv as well. Best gaming tv. Best tv in general in my opinion.

Hell fucking yeah Sark! Hook em!

Jester is a fragile bitch/2022 Uncommitted WR Evan Stewart

Sorry, I have Cards years mixed up when he started. But my point was that we took his commitment when he had little film at QB. I remember he was playing WR prior to his commitment and people were having the same discussion. His commitment was purely based on projection based on his performance in camps and what his coaches were saying. I think right now, we’re in similar situation with Murphy... he had yet to play his junior year. Anyways, my buddy that coached against Card in high school said he’s one of the best QBs they have faced. He thinks he wins the job this summer and thinks he’s going to be a great QB here. -

I remember there being plenty of discussion here with people worrying about Card not having much playing time at QB and that he mostly played WR until that QB that went to tOSU graduated. I’m sure he had quite a few series as a back up and even a game or two as you stated. My point was that people have the same concerns about Murphy who also has limited tape until now at QB. -
I just talked to one of the staff members on the Westlake football team that works with Klubnik. Said he’s not a fan of him. Said he doesn’t work hard in the weight room and practice and that he’d be a poor leader for whichever school signs him. Called him a “pretty boy” and said he wasn’t tough. The same guy was on a support staff at a big 12 school for a few years. I was surprised to hear that. Figured he’d be full of praise considering they just won the title. Figured I’d drop that in here.
