  1. No shit. Here’s the play by play. I said there’s a link between our increasing sanctions and countries looking for ways around dollar system. You said muh tinfoil hat. Yellen said there is a risk there, but essentially that it’s a long shot. You, missed the point. There are a couple things she missed though. I guess she misses the irony of citing the importance of our rule of law when what we’re talking about is an unprecedented set of sanctions and freezing of a massive amount of assets of a country. And I saw the justification for it. I just question how much other nations see us freezing sovereign foreign reserves and say, “See look at their rule of law. How reliable.” That’s the other thing she misses. It’s not Russia or Iran we should be worried about. It’s the rest of the world that sees it and starts to think about their options for hedging or avoiding that risk.
  2. Have the bank that holds your employer’s funds bailed out.
  3. Whether anyone thinks it was justified or not, the freezing of Russian central bank reserves is going to have predictable effects. I think this is part of what we’re seeing. Even some of our closest allies (like France) are publicly attempting to hedge their exposure to dollars and the US financial system. It won’t all happen overnight, but these moves are going to continue.
  4. This letter is from before this murder, but someone from Surly needs to tell the mayor of SF that her crime numbers are lower than many and in fact there is not a crime problem in her fair city. The Fed’s have too much on their plate to worry about such a totally normal place.
  5. Our national debt is $31.5 trillion. China holds less than $1T of it.
  6. Who else wanna fuck with Hollywood Colt? Evidently Schulz. Your certainty on all these matters is amusing, especially considering China as a whole is basically a black box to much of the West. Especially to rando internet posters. Do you really know what’s going on there? Of course not. One of the few known things is they take the issue of Taiwan very seriously. Like probably their #1 priority. To me, that means any and all options are on the table for them. Like Russia with regards to Ukraine, they’re likely to go way past what we would think is reasonable or “smart” in pursuing their goals. I hope we’re really prepared to go all the way if that’s what we’re publicly signaling. Our bluff will be called imo.
  7. Wow, this thread is still going strong? Y’all hang on every word or tweet he puts out. Elon buying Twitter broke some of y’all.
  8. “Keeping the US Treasury solvent” is overstating it, but it’s clear that asset price inflation is useful for keeping deficits in check. Another reason to expect to see it come back.
  9. Saw a news report while at work interviewing member of House Intel committee discussing leak. Starting to think it’s more likely to be legit leak. It is curious how apparently the death figures had been manipulated though. I would like to know the legit estimates.
  10. Looks like the “credit crunch” that people were worried about is happening.
  11. This fits even more when consider the overwhelming confidence in the “team” is coming off of an embarrassing loss the prior “season” in Afghanistan.
