  1. Skepticism is certainly warranted anytime a story comes from anonymous intelligence sources, just as with the Hersh story. Putting that aside, you have to realize this isn't some rogue substacker. There aren't intrepid reporters at the NYT freely bucking narratives. This didn't slip unknowingly past the editorial team. This is what was meant to be released to the public. Quite intentional. Now, why would the intelligence community want to cast any doubt on the story that Russia blew up their pipeline? The whole mainstream media has been on the same page to this point. That's the big question, because that's all this story accomplishes. To me, there's no reason to do that unless it really wasn't the Russians. Personally, I doubt it was a ragtag group of paramilitary divers or some shit. I suspect we'll learn more soonish.
  2. Let's not go sucking each other's dicks just yet.
  3. Why leak any story that it might not be the Russians unless it really wasn't them? No one mainstream was questioning it. Only an evidently discredited old journalist asserted otherwise. Again, I'd love to know why this is coming out now.
  4. No. Not especially. But we do know that this pretty much excludes Russia as the perpetrator of the sabotage. I'd love to know the reason why this story is being released now. Anonymous intelligence sources, through the NYT. We also know that this was an incredible example of the groupthink that has taken over this conflict. Simply stating that you question the original official narrative immediately led to being told you're "carrying water for Russian bullshit" amongst other insults. No critical thinking at all, just reactionary. All those quotes I highlighted were from just one of our esteemed, know it all posters before the thread was locked.
  5. My oh my how the turntables. @bernorange Too bad this was so certain that the thread was locked. Of course this is just a partial story leak. We'll see how it evolves.
  6. Regulation was always coming, but a full on blitz is happening. I'm sure the speed of it has nothing to do with the Chairman of the SEC meeting with Sam multiple times. Or his testifying as a kind of expert on Capitol Hill and Maxine blowing him kisses.
  7. Austin based guys. OOF FTX really screwed everyone. Got the ball rolling on the crackdown. Why? Embarrassed regulators and legislators.
  8. This sounds like the regularly scheduled offseason post where we hear about how the team physically looks different after the offseason program. It produced nice gainz.
  9. I'm curious how this kind of role is referenced within the program. I doubt they're like, Dameyune is sticking around, he's in charge of the bags. Is he their "closer" wink wink?
  10. Evergreen post here. https://wtfhappenedin1971.com/ This is one of the worst posts in Surly history. Congrats.
  11. As MD said, he could still have ADD but perhaps not the hyperactive kind. Does he lose things a lot? If he has trouble with focus that could explain why he lashes out with kids at school. He loses track of conversations, or mishears things and then gets mad. My son from a young age has always done better interacting with adults. I think it's because adults are generally more understanding with kids and take time to communicate with them. Peers on the other hand have less patience. If you can't keep up with the back and forth then poof they're gone. My son also tends to gravitate to kids a couple years younger than him. I think that's because they look up to him and seek out communicating with him, as well as his relative immaturity. You might've seen that with your son. No matter what, I would agree that the focalin has to go. It seems like you're taking the correct steps. It's not uncommon for it to take time to figure out what's going on. These kids all live somewhere on a spectrum of behavior (not just the autism one). One last thing, be aware that throughout this process there will be times that you think you have it all figured out. There will be times that you think he's never gonna be fine. Good days, bad days. For the kid, and also for you and your wife. You just have to keep working with/for your kid every day. I'm pulling for you.
  12. Nice strawman. Here's what we're actually doing. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/10/07/biden-issues-new-rules-to-cut-off-microchip-supply-to-china-00060948 The aim, the agency said, is to “restrict [China’s] ability to obtain advanced computing chips, develop and maintain supercomputers, and manufacture advanced semiconductors” used in military applications. The actions represent an escalation of American efforts to curtail Chinese technology development. While previous U.S. policy sought to keep the Chinese generations behind American tech capabilities, security officials now seek to bring Beijing’s technological capabilities — particularly in artificial intelligence and supercomputing — closer to a standstill. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/12/us-chip-export-restrictions-could-hobble-chinas-semiconductor-goals.html “Semiconductor production is a hyper globalised supply chain. Being cut off from this engine will mean that Chinese companies must ‘reinvent the wheel’ domestically. China’s semiconductor industry will need much higher capital and talent infusion to absorb this shock,” Kotasthane said. And I'll add we just removed a lot of the talent. It will take them years to adapt. We've turned the screws on them, big time. How will they counter?
  13. Silvergate is a big deal. Bank a ton of the crypto sphere. Your link wasn't working for me. Here's another with some more background. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-03-02/silvergate-sinks-to-record-low-on-review-of-going-concern-status?leadSource=uverify wall I'm surprised things haven't dumped more. It kind of supports the idea that forced selling this cycle is really done. We'll see.
  14. Shit if the yield on a 2 year treasury is 4.9%, what's the draw to investment properties of almost any kind? If you think rates are going to stay elevated, then capital appreciation will be somewhat limited, unless I'm missing something. Maybe not for the young hustler or smaller entities, but Blackrock et al will be less driven to run rental operations. That's a lot less money sloshing out there in market. 4.9%, headache-free.
  15. That point comes from Fox News? Yeah woohoo how'd that work for Japan?! Come and get some! It worked out poorly for Japan obviously. It wasn't great for anybody. That wasn't the point. Some people here speak with such certainty about what will happen because they think they know what's best for these countries or what motivates them. When countries feel cornered they'll act in ways that others might feel is reckless or irrational. I'm not just talking about the CHIPS Act. We also recently repatriated a large portion of the skilled workforce from their onshore semiconductor industry. Basically kneecapped their operations overnight. Chips are up there with energy and food for things that large economies and militaries must have. So I don't think we should be surprised at anything honestly. I'm not even against these moves. It may be go time for us against China. I just hope our leaders are thinking more seriously about the consequences of our moves than some posters here do.
  16. We've had good luck with it. He's been on it for years, with minimal issues. He eats less at lunch than most kids due to it, but we play catch up at home with dinner. From what I've heard from other parents, ADD med tolerance is really just so specific to each kid. A lot of med tinkering happens with a lot of these kids. The only other med we personally tried briefly was the patches, but he had bad skin reactions to them.
  17. IF the 4 year cycles continue then 2023 would be analogous to 2019. BTC performance in 2019 +95%, actually was much higher mid year BTC performance so far in 2023 +40% I still think 30K is quite possible by EoY.
  18. First of all, I'd like to say I'm sorry that you're having to go through this journey. Even the people that get good results for their kids will tell you it fucking sucks. Not that it's hopeless or anything, but that it is SO hard and stressful. If you have the means, it really makes you appreciate it because the costs and hoops you go through add up. If you don't have the means to do everything, then it would make it even worse. We were also shocked by the number of kids that need help. Our son was first flagged by us around 3 years old. The usual stuff. Meltdowns, speech delay, difficulty with transitions. We got him assessed and put in ABA therapy pretty quickly. Speech therapy, occupational therapy. We did diet changes like you've probably already tried, vitamin regimens. I feel like they all probably helped in their own way, but it's kind of hard to pinpoint what worked best. We really threw the kitchen sink at his issues. Fortunately, he progressed enough to go to kinder on his own and he's been in school since then. He did get put on a small dose of focalin in the first grade, but he's stayed on the same dose since then. He still has problems with emotional control. He cried at school much later than a typical kid would/should and that led to some bullying problems over time, but he's in 8th grade now and doing well. He's the school mascot and excellent student. I do wish for his sake that connecting with peers was easier, although most times he doesn't really seem to care. One thing that the first doc told us that has rang true is that his emotional maturity lags his age. She said at the time it would be 2/3-3/4 of his age. Has seemed about right. Anyway, I'm venting. I owe all his gains to my wife. She did a ton of the legwork since I have a demanding job. You're going to need a strong partner. This stuff will strain you both to the max. You haven't posted on this thread in a while, so I'm hoping things are going well.
  19. A pretty eye-opening thread on South Africa. Was not aware of how badly things had deteriorated.
  20. Behind a paywall, but no one should be surprised by Binance shenanigans. If Binance fails, it would be big blow to crypto space. Don't leave coins on exchanges.
