  1. I mean, I think that could be inferred from a body language perspective alone. At least from the game I was watching. Regardless, I don't think it's so absurd or divorced from reality to be comical to even type as it would be a very rational and human emotion to feel after being robbed by the single worst call of the replay era, in a close game.
  2. I think you are overreacting on this thread today, but gotta give credit where credit is due-- this is a very funny post.
  3. I've read they are dead-bolted inside and cannot be let out without someone doing it for them, so in the chance that they are on the surface somewhere floating along (which is a decent chance) they will still die if not found. Horrible.
  4. Narenda Modi vising Biden this week for a state dinner. It's pretty deft and artful how India is able to play nice with both the West and Russia and China, juggling all the balls in the air, while growing their GDP and economy at the same time. Modi is problematic with his ties to Adani and there are some anti-democracy accusations (mostly around media and censorship), but when I ask my Indian friends they all seem to like him because he is strong and aggressive versus being servile and taking a backseat to Europe/US
  5. Was reading more about the charger situation with EVs, now that Ford, GM and Rivian have all made announcements of their agreement to adopt the Tesla standard, and I have to admit it's a pretty savvy move to hedge against the future in which Tesla will not be the market leader or as high-margin profitable. While looking altruistic and green (e.g. we just want EV's to succeed, so use our superior charger a la open sourcing the EV technology in years past) he gets these large legacy automobiles to standardize on the Tesla network. Right now the Tesla network is right now a positive differentiator but in logically looking out to the future, only having access to Tesla’s network will be a negative lock-in. By making the Tesla charger the North American standard, Musk is paving the way for a nice “gas station” business controlling a big chunk of superchargers that, by virtue of being first, are in prime locations.
  6. Lost in the emphasis and inspection of the home plate part of this play is just how freaking beautiful that assist was from Jankowski. Picked the ball in a fluid motion with momentum ready to throw, anticipating a play at the plate, and threw a beauty on target. Sucks he got robbed of an assist because that's a major league play.
  7. I get your point, but I think you are being too harsh. Even for the most prosaic and professional players (and we got to witness one of the most mentally strong and professional at-bats with Simien getting screwed on the strike zone and working a walk and not letting his frustrations get the better of him, just a few innings before), there is an emotional element and a "tilt" as they call it in poker, that can happen to rattle you. The Rangers in the top of the 9th were clearly rattled and put in a pressurized situation where they knew they had to score to extend the game, whereas if the call wasn't botched, there is less pressure and emotions and frustration coursing through the dugout, that who knows what changes. So I'm okay with saying the umps gave the ChiSox a W whereas I wouldn't go so far as to say the umps cost the Rangers a W. There is a slight distinction there. Regardless, I have not seen one reporter, outlet, pundit, or professional defend this replay in the slightest, so I think at best we can get an apology and move on, and if not, it's 1 of 162 and this team under Bochy will move on and remember this and I hope Bochy gets Jankowski and Heim a nice steak or an extra helping of ice cream next team dinner.
  8. Never read any detail about the suicide (manner, mechanism, etc.)-- why are they being so HIPAA about it versus other infamous people who do it?
  9. Agree with everything up to the last point-- too derivative and too "Soprano's". I think Hader wins an Oscar at some point in the short to medium term-- for director or actor. He flat out had a coming out party with this show.
  10. The stakes were high for Elemental, Pixar’s 27th feature film, made on a $200m+ budget. But if you’d taken a look at the TikTok consumer sentiment index — known more widely as the comments section — the outcome here might’ve seemed pretty obvious. Top comments on Elemental’s recent TikTok ads, viewed by millions, include negative reactions like: “The Disney magic is fading away.” “Can’t wait to not watch this.” “It’ll probably make, like, $20 at the box office. $21, if they’re lucky.” By that measure, Pixar won the lottery this weekend — but by other measures, Elemental failed to build chemistry with audiences, opening to $29.5m at the box office, below analysts’ modest expectations. While other recent animated films, like Universal’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Minions: The Rise of Gru, have posted record results — $1.33B and $939.6m worldwide, respectively — Pixar has struggled to heat up. Elemental’s opening was Pixar’s second-lowest ever, after Toy Story’s $29.1m in 1995... until you adjust for inflation. Today, Toy Story’s opening would be worth ~$57.6m, 98% more than Elemental’s. The studio hoped Elemental would be a rebound after Lightyear’s box office disappointment, and a momentary high note after Pixar laid off 75 people in May amid Disney’s wider cuts.
  11. Jung mad about that error. Jung make baseball pay.
  12. Officer Burger from Super Troopers with a monster K in a big situation. You love to see it, meow.
  13. Maybe it's because I was peak Rangers fan when he was a 19 year old wunderkind and he flashed mega leather at short during those glory years of 09-12, I think of him as a perpetual smiling guy and Beltre's little brother. Thinking Elvis is in his mid 30's is weird.
  14. I noticed Semien ignored him too lol.
  15. C'mon Zeke Duran!
  16. After he hit that last single I had to go online and buy a #20 jersey. On a team with a lot of likeable players, he's my guy. It feels like a lifetime ago, but Elvis Andrus was my favorite Ranger for a long time-- weird to see that he's still in the league and a White Sox.
  17. Ezequiel Duran is my favorite Ranger.
  18. I almost said OKR's, but they are really probably MBO's.
  19. So true. We have Nemo and Cars in the Tahoe for the TV's and can watch on repeat until we get tired of it and all the recent (last 5 years) hits have been Illumination/Dreamworks.
  20. Meg and Harry were cut in large part to Spotify pivoting away from their big bet on podcasts, mostly. Keep in mind that M&H didn't hit the KPI's needed to get the full $20mm payout as well. https://www.wsj.com/articles/meghan-markles-archetypes-podcast-at-spotify-wont-be-renewed-44311f4f?
  21. Thanks for this. So anything in Sec. 5, Row 1 should work for what I'm looking for?
  22. Question for you Rangers OGs. There were seats in the old stadium (Ballpark in Arlington) called the commissioner seats. They were close to the field, row 1, by the on deck circle. What is the equivalent in the new stadium? Looking to buy some seats when I get to town end of the month. Edit to add, here is a link of view of old seats: https://aviewfrommyseat.com/venue/Globe+Life+Park+In+Arlington/Commissioners+Box/
  23. I think it's the music. Pixar, unlike most Disney movies, don't have huge, memorable (and billboard topping) original songs which anchor a lot of the littles to the movies for repeat viewings. Let It Go, Talk About Bruno, etc.
  24. I don't know if it was because last year was unseasonably hot and horrible, but this year's watermelon season is amazing. Last year, no matter which watermelon we bought-- from a variety of locations, storefronts, markets-- grown in Mexico and U.S-- and both male and female, all were just meh. Weak crop. This year I've had 7 or 8, from a handful of places, and every single one slaps. Rich, deep red, juicy and sweet. Go get you a watermelon and cut that bad boy up if you haven't already! Also, obligatory:
  25. 1) I assume Ayton will be moved because he's unhappy, the Suns hate him, and rumors have circulated widely for weeks/months now. Granted, it could mean nothing and he returns because of value. 2) If you take the argument that the dead money shouldn't be included in the payroll, then you have to cede that the only reason the Bears payroll is as low as it is, is because of the mismanagement or bad luck that has them with a crap ton of dead money and forced them to have such a low payroll. Which also explains why the sucked so bad last year. But regardless the team still cost over $200mm, it's just a lot of that was sunk cost and not attributable to the players on the field.
