  1. I think part of the point of still having testing/protocols is so that the self-interested players and coaches don't spread COVID to unvaccinated workers at Omaha hotels, restaurants, etc. The first group used "personal choice" not to be vaxed, the other group is rightly worried about getting fired for missing work, haven't been told how simple the vax process is, or simply can't afford to miss out on the paycheck if they get symptoms from the vaccine.
  2. Something is off with that latest twist. You shouldn't have four vaccinated people testing positive out of 30ish samples. I don't think that is happening anywhere. It could be PCR tests picking up old COVID, but even that is really unlikely assuming they were vaccinated weeks ago. If true, the NCAA needs to reveal the test results (with no player names attached) because that would be an important scientific trend. But maybe it's just disgruntled bullshit from NCSU sources.
  3. Bowlsby always goes that extra half-step with his quotes, throwing shade on East Lansing. I guarantee you if #4 Iowa State has to face #12 Miami in Tampa or something, he'll do a full 180. (EDIT: I read it wrong, 6 vs 11 would be in Ames. But point remains
  4. Yes, about 7 episodes in. A review I read before starting implored viewers not to binge and I agree. Each story is pretty heavy. I haven't looked up how true to reality the plot is, but in terms of day-to-day slave life, it sure feels authentic. Joel Edgerton and Thuso Mbedu are outstanding.
  5. This gimmick didn't work, but Embiid's obvious love of early 2000s WWE is always entertaining
  6. That's not an easy voting process for most blacks, Mexicans and poor folks. Don't call people lazy when you have no idea what they go through day to day. A huge amount of people can't get even 30 minutes off their job without getting fired. And/or have no means to get to any polling place regardless of district.
  7. Aggressive lineup by Pep. City has been much less vulnerable to counters than in past years, I assume mainly due to Dias. But this group is very offense-oriented so we may see some chances for Chelsea.
  8. Whether you're following the Austin homeless situation or just curious, this is a non-scientific first person description of homeless life in Colorado. Very easy read, and I learned a ton despite living in high-homeless-populated cities my whole life.
  9. RE: Pulling out of the Legends Classic -- it's probably moving to Newark.
  10. I think they will split into teams among the 30 players, but also play various international and other non-NBA pro teams. Seems like an American Idol type thing where they are competing against each other but all strengthened by being part of the OT brand. I like that they aren't exactly taking aim at the G League or the NCAA. Sure, some marquee players will go to Atlanta as opposed to one-and-done at Kentucky or wherever, but it's not like UK fans will notice. And the G League will remain a place for NBA teams to stash their longshots.
  11. Good job above explaining the small northeastern town layouts. It's definitely believable to never encounter a family that lives like two miles away for generations. The metro area has millions of people, they might talk and act alike but don't necessarily go to the same schools, churches, bars, etc.
  12. Yeah, Wizards vs Nets could look like G League games if the players were world class...good luck betting the under totals

    2021 FA Cup

Is there a standard for when the replay is frozen for the offsides checks? I mean if it's called so tight on the back end, like a tiny shoulder lunge, how do they know exactly when the ball has left the passer's foot from such a distance? I'm pretty far along by now in my soccer watching, but that rule still bugs me especially now that VAR has shown what a crapshoot it is.
  14. They've done the Kennan game show where no one can guess what's wrong with the picture a few times, and I think also his Reese de'WHAT classic film show. For Kate, there's the alien abduction trio and the late night drunks at the bar (been a while for that one, I think). But no one has really had a a recurring sketch persona that has stuck in many years. Modern tech allows us all to get what we want from SNL. I love it but can't imagine devoting 1130-1 am sitting and watching it.
  15. I agree the plot is stumbling towards a pretty common "meh, that was OK" movie territory. But it's still a good watch, there are no wasted scenes or eyeroll dialogue.
  16. Hell, even 2012 did it better. Day After Tomorrow would be a best picture candidate next to Greenland. Not that I was expecting much, but it was quickly obvious they weren't gonna stretch the CGI budget. Lots of distant shots of destruction, like it would be playing on a little TV in the room. I fast-forwarded through almost all dialogue after the first 30 minutes or so
  17. Show has been really good imo. I'm from Philly and now live here as well. The accents are pretty accurate, but not EVERYONE talks that way all the time, even in the small towns. This is also true:
  18. Chelsea with two important head to head wins over City recently, they'll be confident going into the CL final. Pep had an odd lineup out there today, and the guys victimized most on the two goals will not likely be on the pitch in Istanbul.
  19. This is what I've been thinking for a while. I understand not putting firm plans in place when there are still medical crises popping up around the country. But at some point, a lot of venues will be able to go from 0 to 100 percent right away. Why would they and the bands pass up good money? I'm mainly talking venues smaller than 5K or so. Those that survived this long will surely do whatever it takes to put shows on quickly. Unless there's some Live Nation fuckery going on where they actually want venues to fail and won't allow bands to book yet.
  20. LOL, I heard that Latino bit too...amazing how we probably would have thought nothing of it a few years ago (maybe one year?) Pep needs to get DeBruyne off, the ref is agitated and don't want your future in his hands
  21. Oh my - ESPN's 86th prospect watching picks in the 180s go by
  22. Still 20ish minutes, probably gonna be a few more quality chances
  23. Too high for a header, too far ahead for a sliding kick. But the keeper had to worry about both, and it just spin in
  24. So far, this looks more lopsided than a typical City hit-the-wall-in-the-UCL game. They don't usually have so much trouble just getting possession and making a pass or two. I'm sure they'd have taken 1-0 even before the game started, but it's not gonna stay that way unless they figure some shit out.
