  1. And just like that, Bayou goes down with the Saints. I'd have made that pick too if I hadn't burned N.O. earlier We could have settlement today - I have Packers and TexasGary has the Colts.
  2. They haven't faced a d-line like Auburn yet :eyeroll:
  3. Not applicable here, but CFP does give every player $2,500 for friends/family expenses to the semis and championship. I know last year Rose Bowl was not a CFP game - just pointing out it's not like players are totally shut out at the top level. I suspect tOSU knew this might take a little time, thus they get through the Wisconsin game and try to get it resolved during the bye week. NCAA being what it is, process took a little longer but they have Maryland and Rutgers coming up so who cares.
  4. I'm pretty late with this comment but the animated story for "All is Said and Done" on the Sturgill Netflix is intense. Probably derivative of a bunch of Mad Max type plots we've seen before, but the story and visuals are kept so simple as to really hit home. I really liked the whole feature, it's barely over a half-hour and blends music and action beautifully.
  5. The battle shall go on...glad I can't pick Seattle again
  6. Bayou wins the pot if Tampa upsets Seattle, otherwise all three move on for another week
  7. That's two cold turkey references in the vegan thread I used to be addicted to cold turkey, but I quit. That's right, I... (h/t Z.Galifinakis)
  8. I was up to around 5 days vegan a couple years ago and now it's more like 2-3 days, combined with more emphasis on fresh, local meat during those meals. One thing that tripped me up was going too much towards the Impossible burger or Quorn chicken nugget type meals...they tasted great but I would get bad indigestion if I went more than a couple days on those meat substitutes. Mixing those with salads, black bean bowls or other dishes helped. But honestly mixing in a normal but fresh meat dish has been the best thing.
  9. Three different picks (Saints, Rams, Vikings) and no one got clipped this week. On we go
  10. I don't feel great about this one. Eagles are old, broke down and slow. All our injured guys are sitting out except a CB who won't make much difference. All the Cowboys injured guys are playing except a CB they won't need against our slow receivers. Maybe if Amari is only 70 percent he'll only be 7 yards behind the secondary and we can run him down inside the 10 and your kicker will clank some chip shots off the post.
  11. Phillies doing second interviews with Showalter, Baker and Girardi over the weekend It feels like paint-by-numbers ownership, and I get the impression the GM is just along for the ride here. But Kapler managed every game like MacGruber after the "10 seconds!" yell. I guess I'll welcome a retread and take our chances with whoever. I hate Showalter's politics but no need to go into that, and I'd still root for the team of course.
  12. I'm not exactly confident in my picks, but I favor just letting it ride as intended for the single winner.
  13. Down to TexasGary, HornontheBayou and myself. If I read it correctly, Dunkin dies with the Chiefs never having used the Patriots. Would have been a nice set-up for him with NE vs NYG this week.
  14. Apology letter: “We apologize to anyone who was offended by the Snoop Dogg performance at Late Night. We made it clear to the entertainers’ managers that we expected a clean version of the show and took additional steps to communicate to our fans, including moving the artist to the final act of the evening, to ensure that no basketball activities would be missed if anyone did not want to stay for his show." Sneaky acknowledgment they knew it could be offensive to those midwestern moms (and/or racists)
  15. SMU was waaay short on one of those 4th downs - maybe the TV line was wrong? Either that or the booth was asleep Looks like they're letting students on the grass hill which is a great move. Used to just be a handful of kids rolling around Are we a Boise loss away from SMU controlling its destiny for the Cotton Bowl? Looks like AAC champ would outrank App State

Vol Calls with Pruitt is tonight at 7 pm CT if anyone wants to ask a question. I'm guessing they'll screen callers even harder than usual for this episode.
  17. Dolphins have a bye and then face Redskins so that's interesting. Definitely some other teams collapsing though.
  18. Pretty sure JHawk acknowledges they cheat, and worried about this exact situation, going back to Shaggy days
  19. Appreciate Self and Long saying "respect the process" and "confident in our process" instead of Trust the Process
  20. Ideal bagman doesn't even go to the games or have any interaction at all with the head coach. But I know what you mean. Someone needs to point the bagman in the right direction and arrange for him to get the money to hand out, which was probably Townsend's thing.
  21. Don't forget Larry Brown is available The texts may not be legal trouble but common sense says they are enough for the NCAA to extract some pain on KU. Logical conclusion is fire Townsend now, push for NCAA title while case plays out, Self takes NBA job in summer 2020 and new coach gets a stress free year to reload the program with maybe a couple scholarship losses.
  22. I'd be shocked if Self leaves. Maybe asst coach Townsend gets sacrificed before the season as a compliance gesture. But no reason not to make an all-out run for the trophy while everything unfolds with the case. Us against the world motivation. Loaded roster this year, Final Four at the Alamodome where they won it last.
  23. The two 20+ spreads this week are teams I've already burned 😠
  24. Newcastle open the scoring at Anfield
