  1. I have mostly stopped reading politics and political boards because of the level of stupidity. The mental gymnastics by Trump supporters especially in finance, wall street, bankers, etc is mind numbing stupid. They are going to crash the economy and there is no 4D chess. It is all just stupid and unplanned. Only coherent policy position is full on corruption.
  2. tesla buys solarcity feel to it. clearly there is massive fraud here but well self-dealing then you can hide a lot for a long time.
  3. Our policy of isolation even with aid, will result in the world being more violent.
  4. There are good legal ways to prevent litigation risk like telling your team where you are going and just posting lots of jobs in new role so your team applies vs poaching. It is very normal and well within the bounds of professionalism to raid your old company for talent. Just do it legally.
  5. Wage pressure is down but inflation "expectations" is up due to policy uncertainty. The challenge imo is we are moving into self-fulfilling prophecy with recession and inflation. Everyone expects it so it becomes true.
  6. Glad I don't listen to shaggy right wingers on investing advice. Made so much money being long Meta. Lots of bloat in MAG7 for headcount and plenty of people will work for that level of compensation
  7. took tomorrow off. hell yeah!
  8. Yeah, you don't need to wade into politics to see that the administration is willing to tank the market and economy for their ideology.
  9. hahaa. our family advisor on trust, etc said we should budget about $20m for a home in Atherton...I was not happy he said that.
  10. Set up family trust, wills, etc. Legal fees are expensive for what we are doing (e.g. QSBS). Selling part of the company so we can take some cash out of the business ($10m-$30m). Hopefully, buy a new permanent home but wife just said she wants to live in NYC this fall.
  11. i still use turbotax which my wealth manager laughs at me about. think GS and MS private, wealth management. my finances are SO simple so why pay more money for nothing incremental. with that said, i have to use a CPA next year has most of my assets are being moved into trust, etc for estate planning.
  12. i moved to cash in feb 2025. looking and feeling pretty fucking smart.
  13. The vail park city situation is a complete disaster. A good portion of the people I meet on the lift at Alta have had to buy day passes at Alta or other areas and consequently double paying as no one wants to ruin their vacation. Vail rightfully is super fucked as they should pay their people more.
  14. If Ds had any balls, they would rat fucked this so easily.
  15. PEO. if you need full HR software, big fan of Justworks.
  16. Not tax or legal advice. Value the business next to zero. Divorce the wife, then sell the business and profit. Lots of SMBs are looking for CFOs with your type of background.
  17. i used to read them in my capacity for M&A. i regularly read them for competitor analysis in my capacity as CFO. it is mostly to understand a companies priorities and performance not investing. companies are very explicit about their plans and vocal so you don't have to dig far into financial reports. if you are investing, banker meetings are best but not available for majority of the public.
  18. is this were all the energy guys live for easy access to strip clubs!
  19. Money isn't a concern... Sadly, we just hired an exec that lives in Katy so want to stay close to west side as I will likely be meeting with that new hire weekly.
  20. Long story short, we have to move back to Texas for 4-6 months this year for work and family reasons. Likely just rent a fully furnished house. I grew up in the ex-burbs of Houston and have a house in Austin. I haven't lived in Houston proper so vaguely know but don't really. What neighborhood should we live? Requirements: Near-ish airport Large house not condo, town-house, or apartment Near restaurants (love eating out) Closer to west side ideally Wife doesn't drive so ability to uber places is key We don't have kids but will likely be traveling to Austin monthly so why I prefer west side. Price is very flexible.
  21. Get a legit CPA not some online sales and use tax company.
  22. Got a foot plus a day after we arrived in the valley while over 2 ft in the mountain. Great experience.
