  1. Approached three of my four neighbors. Awkward lot where fourth is maybe a 10 ft span so didn't approach them. The longest part of the shared fence neighbor refused to even discuss how to think about splitting the cost. Every other one was fine to split 50/50 for their side of the fence. Still have not replaced it because longest and shared fence neighbor is an asshole so will let the fence fall down before I pay for it.
  2. Not sure if we are SMB but got the Cap One business card. 2% unlimited cash back was key. The limit on the card is garbage. I think we spend $2m a month on it but only have a $250k credit limit. We have been unable to increase it for years but that 2% cash back makes it worth it for us.
  3. Just got the Cap One card too. I got it because it transfer to Asia airlines, and will likely be flying to Asia a lot for personal/ work.
  4. All the neighbors are busy in SF these days. Financial district is depressing but we have stayed in SF the past two summers (~3 months each time) and the place is lively. The city definitely has problems but frankly has become nicer from Covid as traffic is easier and way more clean.

Had psilocybin a couple of times and just felt the world spinning and some magic colors. Friends and wife enjoy it more than me but they do it for supposedly medical reasons (e.g. depression). I only do it for a good time - We no longer drink any alcohol, and I just take edibles (THC/CBD) weekly if I want to relax. My only problem with gummies is the wide range in the way it makes me feel as I don't know the different brands yet.

Have had multiple friends do it - In my limited knowledge, the drugs help but would recommend having a guide who helps you as you take the medicine. I think the experience is not just the drugs but also the treatment which can include light therapy and discussions about your potential issues. Everyone who just takes ketamine on their own seems to just do it for "fun" with less long-term benefits for "curing" depression. There are a lot of people who provide treatment guides if in states that are legal. Can't help in Texas.
  7. We are fairly low key on weekends. Wife has been sick all week so been trying to keep our distance from each other so I don't get sick. I go downstairs in the AM, run errands, work-out, etc. Around 11, she comes downstairs and follows me around the house all day. I move rooms to read, clean, whatever and shortly afterwards she follows me. Even when I take the dog outside, she follows. just now - she asks me, "Can I get some alone time?" me, !@$!@$!@, you are the one following me around the house!
  8. I actually had great experience and prices with Geico...Train wreck of experience with travelers for rental homes. I found just shopping around 3-5 places is enough to quickly find who has decent rates. State Farm is a dumpster fire on rates.
  9. I agree and love the Subaru's we have test driven. It is the most logical choice. It is purely an ego item that I rather have a Porsche, et al. Would have already bought a Subaru if you could get a decent upgrade on the interior.
  10. Leaning towards Macan. I wasn't looking to buy via Autonation and know that is problematic but seems like a good price! https://www.edmunds.com/porsche/macan/2020/vin/WP1AA2A58LLB05703/?radius=100 Too bad the dealership has NO clue what options are in the car. When I tried to test drive it, the car was out of gas and said it would take hours before it could have gas...
  11. Loved the Volvo CX40 we test drove today. Audi Q5 was nice but damn if I am over Audi "quirks" Looked at Mazda but frankly just ego about driving a Mazda. Just feel dumb driving a Mazda to our winter, ski house. I'd lean Volvo if the ratings of the car weren't so poor and seems as much if not more reliability issues as Audi. I have had no issues with my current Audi except stupid design choices.
  12. definitely! test driving this week and next. not pressing but ready to buy if we find the right fit. given my likeness to move to pacific northwest, it is fitting!
  13. Currently have an Audi S4. It is 5 years old and works fine but looking for a car with a little more space given the amount of cross country driving we do. No kids, just pets. We want a bigger car but not an SUV. I was thinking a hatchback but all are so ugly. Must have all wheel drive as likely buying a ski house next year so will be our car for winter driving and daily errands. We likely buying my fun car (old school porsche) but looking for something practical but nice. Budget is flexible and like the Porsche Cayenne but worry about cost/ maintenance. Frankly, we are really cheap so don't like spending money so think Subaru Crosstrek but meh on it. Any other suggestions? Must have: All wheel drive Not an SUV (small suv may be ok) Space for cross country driving is key Sporty and nice so no Honda, Toyota, etc
  14. DM - I am about to hire an associate from <bulge bracket bank> and there is a 50% chance that he doesn't take the offer. At the very least, I can point you toward some startups that are looking for finance analyst.
  15. roomba or bust! we tried Eufy but honestly roomba is just better.
  16. I actually think if the WSJ articles hadn't broke the story that the company would have likely folded and nothing happened. Too many companies claim being a startup for not complying with regulation.

  18. Protested my house with eh results. Rental homes got zero reduction even though all houses are exact same in format, size, and zip code. One house came in at $100k more in value...
  19. The Big Guys pay all the insurance premiums tho.
  20. But but you told me it was just a liquidity issue not a hole in their balance sheet!
  21. Eh, the AT1s based in Swiss law were very explicit on ability to wipe out these bonds above equity. Too bad people didn't read the fine print.
  22. On the totally making shit up at this point scale, I think the political blow back of "saving" SVB has made it impossible to save First Republic. The FDIC has to let it fail.
