  1. Not pretty, but it's a win. These Ks are killing me. We don't want another season like those 104 by Faltine. How about someone emulating Tony Gwynn who averaged just over 20 Ks a year for 20 years and had a stretch of 5 or 6 seasons in a row where his strikeouts were in the teens. Ok, he was a freak but it would be nice.
  2. Lou Gehrig played at Columbia.
  3. We have three guys that are on pace or better than Faltine's strikeout record (104) from a couple of years ago.
  4. No, but more than yesterday.
  5. I never tried that and don't remember seeing someone do that in particular. I did drop a knee to block first base when runner's were diving back. It worked pretty well. I played 5 or 6 years with a left-handed pitcher who had an incredible move to first. We picked off a lot of base runners.
  6. I missed this the other day. Thanks for the post. I have been checking the lineup everyday for changes, but have been concentrating on the new players to see if numbers have been assigned to them and if any have been dropped. I must have scanned too quickly to miss Polk and Powell not there and paid no attention to last year's returning people. I don't think Bertsch saw any action last year so he should still have 4 years left. Werchan and Cummings didn't really seem to pan out so that is not too surprising if they were cut or just left. Walker Polk was an interesting possibility but did not have great stats before he transferred, just reasonable, and probably wouldn't see any playing time.
  7. Thanks for that info Hookem2147. Regarding the progress pitchers in rehab are making, what pitchers are actually part of that group? I don't necessarily mind that there may be future bunts, but I hope they still continue routinely practicing how to bunt. It is amazing how bad some guys are at bunting and if they are the ones that you need in the 9th inning as he suggested you might as well forget about it.
  8. That timeline seems like what has happened before, but I still feel sorry for them if they are only notified once the semester ends. That gives you about a month to make contacts at other schools, apply to the school, and prepare to move somewhere else. It also seems like that are a lot more people on these tentative rosters for the fall than there used to be. Perhaps I just wasn't paying that much attention before.
  9. He must have been talking about a different Kenny Baker.😁
  10. When will the roster be trimmed? I checked today and it is still over 40 with no changes. Looking forward to the season. We have full weekend tickets for the showdown in Arlington.
  11. I think the freshman Cole Chamberlain played some first base in the Orange-White game. Any updates on the fall practices or on some surprises by any of the old or new guys?
  12. That is about when I saw him pitch there. One year I lived in the same apartment complex with the San Antonio Dodgers. The management required them to all live in the same place. The only one I really talked to was the catcher at the time (don't remember his name) and I don't think he ever made it past AA. That was a fun team to watch back then.
  13. Wil the game be televised?
  14. I thought Sark was going to update us on Fall Baseball.
