  1. I think the freshman Cole Chamberlain played some first base in the Orange-White game. Any updates on the fall practices or on some surprises by any of the old or new guys?
  2. That is about when I saw him pitch there. One year I lived in the same apartment complex with the San Antonio Dodgers. The management required them to all live in the same place. The only one I really talked to was the catcher at the time (don't remember his name) and I don't think he ever made it past AA. That was a fun team to watch back then.
  3. I thought Sark was going to update us on Fall Baseball.

    RIP Pete Rose

Saw him play with the Reds when I was young. He earned his nickname. RIP
  5. Saw this at another forum- Victor Coronado of Lutheran South Academy. I did not recall that he was a commit. Perhaps the new UT staff had something to do with his new commitment. His PG score is 9.5 and he appears to have converted to 3B and also pitches. Big kid with good power. I checked and could not find that he had committed to Texas State.
  6. I checked Faltine's stats again. His batting average is still bad and he strikes out almost half the time. He has been pretty consistent in that since he turned pro. As I recall, he set the UT single season record for strikeouts and hasn't been able to improve on that. His move is from A to A+, where he was about 2 years ago for awhile, so there must be a need for a body in Dayton. He is such a good infielder if he can improve his hitting his chance of moving up to AA or AAA will drastically improve.
  7. Just saw that Detroit is calling up Ty Madden. His first call up to the bigs I think. 🤘
  8. FIRE SHLOSS FOR NOT BEING PRECISE!
  9. When will Fall ball start at UT?
  10. Winfield batted .216 with 1 HR for Cotuit this summer. He only had 51 at bats for some reason and hasn't been with them for about 2 weeks now. Belyeu batted only .222 with 2 HR in 54 games with Cotuit, but he played earlier with Team USA.
  11. Well, they still rank us 19th. I had no idea where we might be ranked with all the changes that have occurred. I definitely feel good about the coaching changes. There appear to be some big improvements in the pitching staff but I am not sure if we have quality Friday and Saturday starters yet. Relief help may be good but let's see who falls out as a closer. I am still worried about 1B and 3B, but there is potentially some good talent on the roster now.
  12. Note that the other thread indicates that Jalin Flores is coming back. I saw that on another forum too. Great news.
  13. Jared made a nice jump up from the last draft prospect ranking I saw. Good luck to him. He will be missed.
  14. I looked up the Rodriguez commit and he looks really good. Interestingly, he is ambidextrous and even has a glove that can be used either way. He is a switch hitter and good from both sides. He has played some first base and plays that left handed. Sounds like a really good pick up by Schloss.
  15. Good question. That statement said Gasparino was coming back to Austin to work on his hitting but did not elaborate. I don't know the rules about coaches interacting with players in the off-season when it comes to actual coaching. I would think he needs to tighten up and shorten that swing a bit. We had way too many guys this year with high numbers of strikeouts and Gasparino led the pack. Tulo needs to work with them on anticipating certain pitches, seeing the ball spin better to identify pitches, and doing a better job of protecting the plate with 2 strikes by swinging at close ones but not chasing balls way out of the strike zone. Many of them tend to chase pitches starting outside that wind up being curve balls so far outside that they are basically unhittable anyway. I know that big leaguers can have the same problem, but it seemed really prevalent among UT batters this year.
  16. Don't know if Liperfido's circus catch was posted here, but check it out. https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/astros-joey-loperfido-catch-twins-19558030.php https://www.mlb.com/video/luis-contreras-in-play-out-s-to-willi-castro
  17. Regarding Gasparino, his stats were posted above and they were bad. As stated by Torre "Probably for the best. He was hitting .083, 24 ABs, 12Ks, 1 HR. Needs to get in the cage with Tulo." I had checked on him a day or two before he was released and his stats were about what Torre posted.
  18. Cade Fisher had a 7.13 ERA this year. In 59.1 inning he gave up 67 hits (.282 batting average), 6 homeruns, 29 walks, and struck out 76. He hit 13 batters, only had 3 wild pitches, and no balks.
  19. Hope he does well. 2024 was not a good year for him.
